Yes, Disney has given us a new, extra tragique look at Aladdin. Check the responses under that tweet, it is pure GOLD.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?
The tweets are simply fantastic:
Here's my humble contribution:
Speaking of horrific...
Not only did Malek winBAFTA but he did this. What world are we living in where he is gonna win an Oscar?!
Sean Penn wrote a whole open letter supporting Cooper. I don't think this is gonna be enough. I think I need Penn to go to all the Academy members' houses and start boozing and chainsmoking in there and threaten he won't leave until they vote for Cooper.
At least Sunday was a good night in one regard - as Gagawas accepting Grammy for Shallow, Cooper was accepting BAFTA for best original music.
In a shameless attempt to bribe me Jason Momoa, my sun and stars, is now presenting at the Oscars.
No, I will not yield. I will not watch you rob poor BCoop blind.
Not even for love.
NOT EVEN FOR LOVE!
Another week, another bad idea from AMPAS. Even Cuarontrashed them. I swear this ceremony is already exhausting and it hasn't even happened yet.
Here's a bit of a blast from the past with Jim Carrey explaining the importance of cinematography.
Honestly I am just so puzzled. Why the hell would you want to make the ceremony shorter?! 3h is long anyways! If someone is going to watch the Oscars they will regardless of how long it is. It's one in a year kind of event! FOR FUCK'S SAKE what is wrong with these people?!
The most horrific part of the award season is here. The ballots.
"Almost everyone admitted that “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a guilty pleasure to watch, however, as Rami Malek turned in an Oscar-worthy performance as Freddie Mercury. (All 20 people I contacted said Malek had their vote for best actor.)"
New season of Veepwill premiere on March 31! Finally!
Trailer for The Hustle with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. Hathaway's accent is very amusing but I'm sure we are in for another incel meltdown since this is a female-led remake of a male-led movie.
New TV spot for Us. Hopefully I will remain spoiler free. It would be wonderful to watch a movie and for once not know what happens. I have a serious spoiler addiction so I cannot remember when is the last time I experienced something like that.
Here's trailer for Ma. Please God don't let this be my future.
Hey speaking of trash Affleck brothers, Ben went on Kimmel this week to confirm he is no longer Batman. Kimmel....the puppet for his awful buddies. Always there when they need to show up to make an announcement.
And here is the new trailer for Triple Frontier which he is in but so is Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal so hopefully they will salvage this.
Trailer for Long Shot with Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen. This looks so sweet and charming!
I was not that excited about this movie but after seeing the flood of individuals who may as well write autobiographies (that no one would buy) entitled "Life with a micropenis: It's hard because it can't get hard" hating on this movie online just because it is led by a woman I am absolutely going to pay money to see it and support it.
Fuck you, losers.
Also this is the most brilliant thing I've seen in my entire life:
The cast for Kingsman prequelis absolutely insane. Tom Hollander! Matthew Goode! I hated the last movie, I swear it's so bad it actually ruins the first one, but that cast is shockingly awesome. Also it's lovely that Gemma Arterton is gonna be in a high profile movie, she's a curvy beauty and she deserves to be in more movies that people will actually watch!
They are making an Aquaman spin-off focusing on the Trench. Well....I'd rather see this than Steroid Cavill in another Superman movie, so go for it, I guess.
Concept art for unused scene from Aquaman. Ugh, I want more!
God I hope he is referring to some hardcore porn he will star in.
EDIT on Friday: Well, he kinda was. Jason joinedDune!
He is gonna be Oscar Isaac's right-hand man.
Just writing that sentence made me climax.
I sure do hope this will not bomb like Blade Runner 2049 did. The last time Jason wielded a sword he also showed his ass (in Conan) so...fingers crossed and SEE THIS ONE!
And let's talk about what I watched since last RF:
I rewatched Neighbors and it's such a funny movie. Seth Rogen is consistently hilarious and Rose Byrne was actually my supporting actress winner that year. Oh no, Assjuice!
Neighbors 2 wasn't nearly as funny as the first one but it had nice pro-feminism message. Also I did appreciate Efron dancing like a total slut.
Whewww.
There's a scene where a bunch of young girls throw him out of the house.
Yes.
Because THAT is something that would happen in this scenario.
They would totally not have an orgy and bang him until they all die.
Oh, I apologize did I actually type that?
WELL I MEANT TO.
Tag. That was a nice little movie in spite of having one of the most annoying actors ever - Ed Helms - in it. But seriously, WHO would run away if Jon Hamm was chasing them?
Keeping up with the Joneses was fun but really forgettable. Gal Gadot walks around in lingerie, though, so some of you - and by that I mean Mario - may want to check that out.
Yes. She is talking about THAT part of her in that gif.
Aaaaanddd.....Mario is dead now.
Overlord was pretty good. It was such an obvious concept (Nazi experiments) and yet I don't remember it being in horror lately. The main girl was really good, it's nice that other than unleashing heinous people with terrible takes on MeToo on the world (see last week's RF for more info) France also gives us lovely young actresses who are hopefully enlightened and not complete morons.
Never fear that I am so appreciative of young Efron slutting it up, because I then watched Road House, from 1989, and this was Sam Elliott (at 45) there:
Let's just say my ass was sweating.
On Sunday I rewatched A Star is Born. I just can't with the fact that a movie this good is probably going to win just one Oscar. I swear to God every time BCoop sang, I cried. When BCoop cried, I cried. When BCoop was hearing that tone in his ears, I cried. I kept rewinding the Shallow sequence and watched it four times.
Fuck you, AMPAS. Just....fuck you.
I hope he pisses on y'all.
I rewatched The Favourite. I still don't know what Weisz was doing in that tea scene. She acts like she knows the tea is poisoned yet drinks it. She doesn't even make my supporting actress line up because of weird stuff like that. Half the time I wasn't sure what she was going for, at all.
I also rewatched Get Out. I liked it much more this time than when I first saw it last year. I'm so dense I didn't even pick up on the fact him picking cotton saved him the first time I was watching it. Rod and Sid were still the greatest part of the movie.
Creed 2 was so-so. It was nowhere near as good as the first one and you could tell it's not by the same director. There were so many clumsy moments like when the Russian crowd was supposed to go wild and they were just politely clapping. What the hell?
Before I go and have a drink and watch Baywatch (don't you judge me!) two things - first of all thanks so much for all the comments this week, you guys rock! and also - once again a reminder to people in our blogopshere who have wordpress - check the spam folder, sometimes the comments go there!
