  • (I have been providing quality content like insane over the last few days and so little interest in last RF?! You guys should be out there spamming the comment section with how awesome Aquaman trailer is and how it changed your lives for the better!)
  • First of all, spectacular poster for Apostle. This is from the director of The Raid movies, starring Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen and that poster is splendid. The word "Netflix" is a huge warning sign, obviously but hopefully, somehow, this will be good.
  • For my rant about James Gunn and Guardians of the Garbage - click here. I wasn't even planning on writing a s separate post about this. I was working on RF draft and suddenly I had 12 bullet points on that mess so I was like well OK, this needs to be a separate post.
  • So again, Sharp Objects recap is coming on Sunday.
  • Early morning on Wednesday there was news that Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Don Cheadle and Tom Hiddleston unfollowed Gunn. Then Evans and Cheadle sent tweets denying they unfollowed Gunn. So they give no statement about whether they are for or against firing but they go on to tweet about this. Seems like Chris Evans is only outspoken when it suits him. Ironic he talked about kicking the beehives because that is exactly what he did with that tweet. Couldn't just tweet "I never followed him". No, boi gotta try throw some shade even though unless he actually gives his opinion on Gunn's tweets he is in no position to dish out sarcasm.
  • I swear Gunn's tweets created a vortex of trash and most of MCU actors are going to fall in it being dumbass celebrities and doing what they do. I was going to rewatch Infinity War this week but decided not to because I am legitimately tired of all these people.
  • Speaking of hypocrisy, Jessica Chastain's new project is this. Now look at this dude's wikipedia page. What the hell is wrong with Chastain and/or her people?! First she claims she didn't know Singer produced Dark Phoenix. Now this?! How incompetent and/or hypocritical is this chick?
  • Now let's dive even deeper into gross because Johnny 9 Digits rolled out of dumpster long enough to throw some trash at Amber Heard. So he is now claiming that she punched him twice in the face. Good. I hope she did, I wish she cut his dick off. Wasn't there an NDA that they cannot talk about this? As in the NDA JK Trash I bait gay fanbase to score points Rowling used as a shield no to take any stance? Oh noes. If Dumpster Johnny is mouthing off then JK surely can be made to talk now?
  • She is such a lovely person I'm sure she has sympathy for abuse victims.
  • Sarcasm sign.
  • I am now purposefully not seeing Fantastic Beasts in cinema. Depp breaking NDA and using that against Amber and his psycho fans (who are by the way mostly teen girls and they are oh so very simple) defending him and lashing out on people is just gross. He ripped clumps of hair off her head, for God's sake. She has witnesses too.
  • This Saturday I managed to see Fallout which was awesome. It's definitely the best Mission Impossible flick. The stunts were insane, the film was entertaining, the cast did a great job and honestly it was surprising how slick and elegant the film was. There were a lot of dream scenes and twists and the music was epic but also stirring and that's why it really feels like a Nolan film, especially with the sheer scope of many scenes and the director's remarkable control over it.
  • Henry"Thunderstruck" (I laughed so freaking hard) Cavill was pretty good but the fact he is reportedly trying to use this as bargaining chip in his negotiations with WB is quite funny. Still, it was distracting how good looking he was. I cannot believe that French policewoman kept aiming her gun at them after he smiled at her.
  • Thank God this didn't happen. Not everything has to be dark and covered with several layers of doom and gloom. I really like Cruise's Ethan Hunt - he is a good guy and he is likable. You need a protagonist like that in spy films like that series.
  • I also rewatched Pineapple Express (Amber Heard was so young there, she looked completely different!) and This is the End.  Which now Netflix took down to put stuff like that apocalypse movie with Louis from Ant-Man. What the fuck, man.
  • So I rewatched Suicide Squad. Why do I do these things to myself?
  • Yesterday I saw First Reformed which was absolutely brilliant and is my favorite movie of the year so far. I will write a longer post about it but see it, it's amazing! All I will say for now is that Ethan Hawke should be winning all the awards for this, I don't care how much Gosling wanders around and how much Cooper sings in their Oscar baits this year.
  • First photo from next Terminator, the only movie with the continuity more confusing than the X-Men franchise. It would actually be better if Cameron directed it. Last I heard he is training children how to hold their breath underwater for as long as they can for Avatar sequels....considering he nearly drowned Ed Harris in the 80's I'd rather he just dropped that insanity and directed this one.
  • Ari Asteris making another pagan cult movie. Here come the nightmares again.
  • Our first look at Tessa Thompson in that next Men in Blackmovie. Also Rebecca Fergusonwas cast in the film!
  • We have our first look at Pedro Pascal in Wonder Woman 1984. We still don't know who he is playing but I'm sure we are all excited.
  • The new trailer for Venom. It's actually even more awful than the last one. But it is awful in an incredible way. In 'can't look away it's so fucking terrible' way. I am actually psyched for this one now, it looks like it may come close to the absolute masterpiece of trashfire that always makes me laugh.
  • I am talking of course about Wicker Man remake with Nicolas Cage. The masterpiece of unintentional comedy. I truly don't think Nicolas Cage in a bear costume running up to a woman and punching her in the face will ever be topped, in any movie.
  • Hardy looks like he having some sort of an episode WHILE trying to re-create his Boston accent from The Drop. He comes off sounding like Tommy Wiseau and fucking hell it's something to witness. The words he says also seem cut from various lines in the movie to form other lines and it is amazing how awful it is. Then there's Sony logo which as we all know spells disaster. Riz Ahmed is on autopilot playing the villain. Shot of sym-bye-ote attaching itself to some dude's junk because why not. Then that hilarious moment Hardy sees Venom's reflection in car window and *puts hand to mouth* like he forgot to turn off the oven in his house or just shat himself. Terrible sound editing - the lines are actually out of sync with actors saying them. Michelle Williams in a wig, running in a sexy skirt, trying to get that CBM cash money. Some kind of CGI mayhem which looks so bad it is almost glorious. And of course instantly iconique "TURD IN THE WIND".
  • Turd in the wind, you guys.
  • I have been singing "Dust in the wind" replacing "dust" with "turd" all week long.
  • Another horrific photo of Hardy as Al Capone. Why.
  • Here's Hardy trying to bring back the hot on the cover of next month's Esquire --->
  • Tom, we saw you pick your nose. It's over, man.
  • The Megmarketing campaign is pretty awesome.
  • So they are making that Fox News movie with Charlize Theron. First the news broke Kidman joined the cast. Now Margot Robbie also joined. There's something as too much beauty. And that movie is going to be it.
  • It has been confirmed that Suspiriais over 2,5h which from what I heard it's really not a good idea. The script was not that lengthy so unless they added a lot of stuff while shooting not only is that thing getting booed in Venice but there will be walkouts too. Also it is now practically confirmed that Tilda Swinton plays three roles in the movie.
  • Has there ever been a horror movie as anticipated as the sequel to It? The cast is absolutely terrific. Here's Sophia Lillis and Jessica Chastain on the set.
  • We had heatwave here this week so I'll cut the pervy part to minimum. But it was another difficult week for my ovaries - 1,2,3,4

    Sharp Objects 1x04 Ripe

    (spoiler-free!)

If Sharp Objects is like an acid trip, this last episode was the peak of it, so far. Halfway through the season we are deep into Wind Gap dysfunctional ways, stuck there with Camille. And with each episode we find out more and more painful things about her.

This week we got to see more of Adora too. Still nursing that scratch from the rose bush (and when Camille says "it's only a scratch" Adora hisses "to YOU"), Adora only livens up and puts on charming facade when Chief Vickery pays her a visit. He comes over inquiring about Camille and asking Adora not to host the annual festival event. Adora has him wrapped around her finger so much that even when she openly threatens him, he is simply charmed by her.
Meanwhile, Camille is still mad at Amma for her rude behavior. Amma wants to make nice but Camille is focused on her investigation. She meets with detective Willis and shows him the crime scenes in Wind Gap. Turns out over the years there was a lot of death there, all women. Some of them suicides, some of them murders. Camille tells Richard and the audience disturbing stories which paint the picture of a place where women are used, abused, hurt and sometimes even killed.

We also go to that creepy shed we saw Camille think of several times. Turns out not only is the shed the place where the girls that were murdered went to play, but it's also the place where boys "had their way" with girls. Camille essentially admits that she was raped by five boys in there and gets very defensive when Willis offers her sympathy. It's very clear that Camille was raped but she was telling herself a story, ever since that happened, that she wasn't and she wanted it to happen. It's one of her many ways to cope. To lie to herself and to stifle the truth.
Then we get a scene from the book where the two finally get intimate - the placement of that scene in front of that traumatic shed was not the greatest maneuver. Anyways Camille obviously doesn't take her clothes off and just takes Willis hands and guides it. As she climaxes she thinks of the blood, of the shed, of death. It's so clear how much her trauma affected her. We see heartbreaking moments with young Camille in this episode, so beautifully played by Sophia Lillis. The episode's most shattering moment comes when she comes home after getting raped, on her birthday and approaches the birthday cake, closes her eyes as if she is thinking of a wish but doesn't blow the candle, knowing it won't come true.

When Camille comes home, she is ambushed by Adora who was sitting in the living room. They have another unpleasant chat in which Adora manipulates, blames and taunts Camile. Adora even tries to make Camille think she did something one of the dead girls did - cut her hair in act of defiance. Camille looks like such a helpless girl whenever Adora's viciousness strikes with full force, particularly now. Adora tells her she "smells ripe", basically calling her a whore and turning a happy sexual encounter she just had with the detective into yet another trigger. It was difficult watching that scene, with Camille being so utterly destroyed and Adora at her utterly merciless. Also I don't recall seeing the word "ripe", the episode title on Camille's body unlike with previous words/titles. Perhaps that is because Adora's viciousness was as sharp as the blade.

Not only do we see more flashbacks showing that after Marian's died Adora was never there for Camille - Alan showed her more affection getting her a birthday cake - but she blames her own daughter for everything. It even gets to the point where Alan is growing increasingly tired of Adora's shit. He is listening to music, drinking and finally snapping and joining her in their bedroom in the end.

Adora's another soulless deed this week was firing John from the pig slaughterhouse. John goes drinking and Camille is already there and they talk a little. John reveals to her that Amma knew the dead girls and played in creepy shed too. Worried about her step-sister's safety Camille storms out of the bar and drives around looking for Amma, she even hallucinates opening the door to the shed and finding Amma's corpse lying there. Meanwhile, Amma is skating through town with her minions with cars following them around, one of them stopping right in front of Amma as the episode ends.
There were two extremely cryptic and interesting moments in this episode - first when Camille bites into Willis' shoulder and we immediately cut to Alan, inside the house, and we see a bite mark on his hand - a bite from when he bit his hand last episode, but still a very interesting editing cut. We also saw John's girlfriend noticing and then frantically cleaning a blood stain under his bed. Sure, it could be pig's blood considering where John used to work. But it doesn't have to be.The show just keeps throwing suspects at you. It also keeps adding conflicting information about those you may suspect - turns out Amma was the one separating the girls whenever they fought, to prevent anything bad from happening. We also see how disgusted John's girlfriend is with blood so she probably couldn't bring herself to pull a person's teeth out.

The episode also featured a guy, who I suspect, was one of the boys who raped Camille, now all grown up. It's Amma's teacher. We saw him before - at Natalie's wake and storming out of the bar when Camille entered. The episode also gave more details about Camille's boss - we saw him undergoing a chemotherapy. And the music game is just so strong, now adding The Doors to all that Led Zeppelin we already got. And then there's thisApocalypse Now reference. Oh and Beth Broderick, in the brunch scene. As in Sabrina, Teenage's Witch's Aunt Zelda.

    On the next episode....

1x05 "Closer" - Despite a potential serial killer on the loose in the community, Wind Gap residents gather for Calhoun Day, an annual southern-pride festival hosted by Adora (Patricia Clarkson) on the grounds of her house. As Amma (Eliza Scanlen) and her friends act out a traditional play depicting the sacrifices made by the wife of a Confederate soldier, Adora shares confidences with Richard (Chris Messina) that may impact his relationship with Camille (Amy Adams). Written by Scott Brown; directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.

    (spoiler-free!)

This week in Sharp Objects we saw the event that was only mentioned in passing in the book, here expanded to the entire episode. And what a fantastic idea that was. Calhoun Day, Adora's pride and joy, provided a riveting look into the inhabitants of the town and the biggest dose of humor in the show yet.But there was so much heartbreak too.

The entire town is on the edge because Camille just published her article, writing that police believes the victims knew their killer. Everyone assumes it's either Bob Nash, the father of murdered Ann or John Keene, the brother of Natalie. Camille's boss calls her and wants her to write more but the second Camille tells him how hard it is for her to be back in Wind Gap he tells her that if she wants to come back she should. I am so grateful for that kind character being in the show. He is the most decent person there and it's such a silver lining that there is someone in Camille's life who genuinely cares about her. Camille's demons are probably never going to be defeated but Frank insists on telling her she is doing amazing job and he is proud of her in every conversation they have, which is something we know her own mother never said to her.
Each episode Adora finds increasingly more horrible ways to be awful to her daughter and because of Patricia Clarkson's acting and Adora's sneaky nature you never know whether she even understands how terrible she is. When she sees what Camille is wearing to the party she demands her and Amma go and buy new clothes. In the clothing store Camille is handed revealing dresses by the shop girl and she is obviously uncomfortable. As she is changing, someone takes her blouse that is hanging on the door. Camille asks for the long sleeved dress she chose but hears no answer. She grows incredibly worried and starts pleading for Adora to take Amma to the car, while Adora pretends she doesn't understand why Camille is so upset.

Camille comes out, full view of her scars. Both Amma and Adora are stunned but Amma is also visibly saddened being hit with the representation of her sister's suffering (Eliza Scanlen's acting is really wonderful in the show). Camille throws the dress in Adora's face. Adora seems shocked by the extent of Camille's self harm and Camille remarks that Adora wasn't there "at the end". Adora doesn't acknowledge the fact that Camille no longer cuts herself and instead of offering some sort of support and saying that Camille overcoming that was an accomplishment, Adora says it doesn't matter now because she is "ruined". Considering that one can imagine Camille's cutting is also amplified by her getting raped, in an subconscious effort to make herself less "beautiful" and appealing to men, it's a particularly evil and heinous thing to say.
Adora and Amma leave and Camille goes back into the changing room letting out a blood curdling scream. Adams yet again excels in bringing the most memorable moments from the novel to life.

Back in the house, Camille decides to leave and packs things up. Her and Amma share a sweet moment when sympathetic  Amma comes over to talk to her and offers Camille a long sleeved dress. I think because of Amma Camille is having her first positive experiences in this house ever since Marian died. We get to see the flashback of young Camile, Marian and younger Adora before the photoshoot. Adora is concerned with appearances and scolds Camille for walking into the room with her shoes covered in mud. We then see present time with the framed article, Adora and Marian there, but no Camille.
During Adora's big event we get to see the side of Adora we only saw a glimpse of last week when she was charming Vickery. Adora looks stunning in her intricate dress and she is extraordinarily pleasant and witty towards her guests. That's not to say the women of the house don't engage in manipulation - when Camille catches her mother looking at her she puts her arm around Richard's in the act of defiance.  For all of Camille's suffering and her tears she still has so much fight left in her. Adora then gives Richard the tour of the house, talking about splendid ivory floor made out of the tusks of elephants before they became endangered. but she still manages to seep poison into Richard's ear calling Camille a delicate rose, but not without thorns.

And then there's Amma, pretending to be showing her friends her dollhouse, when they were in the house to take ecstasy. The drugs take effect in stunningly directed sequence where Amma is playing the part of a woman who refused to give up the soldiers' whereabouts and was violently raped and burnt alive during the war - this is the event that Calhoun Day celebrates, which says it all, really. Amma begins to experience the bliss of drugs but she still wants the approval of her mother - Adora, who is watching her daughter re-enact the events, with pride, which is disturbingly comical, considering what those events are - and is jealous of Camille and Richard striking a genuine bond and Richard stealing Camille's attention from Amma.
Finally when Bob Nash attacks John Keene Amma freaks out and runs. Was it just the drugs? Or did she desperately want the attention back on her? Amma did look genuinely scared in that moment. Her escape of course sends Adora into hysterical panic with Alan trying to calm her down (Adora's despair is so incredibly over the top it is actually hilarious, same as her constant complaining about that rose thorns cutting her hand, you'd think she was shot!). Richard and other men, with Camille in tow, run into the woods to look for Amma. Camille has visions of her sister Marian, which guide her to the shed of horrors where she finds scared Amma.

Camille brings Amma home and Adora immediately takes care of her daughter, babying her. Then Adora invites Camille over for a drink at veranda. She talks of Richard, telling her that he will find out about her when they get close and Camille tells her she won't get close. Adora says she wants to apologize for that.  Adora made several references to Camille's father in this episode, saying he was cruel and cold (we know very little about Camille's father both in the book and so far in the show, Camille's disturbed state is only made worse by the fact she doesn't really know where she comes from).  When Adora tells Camille that she apologizes, and when you think maybe Adora, thankful for Camille bringing back Amma is going to say something nice to Camille, it turns out that what she is apologizing for is never loving Camille.
Camille, distraught, drives in the rain to Richard's motel. She walks in and immediately starts kissing him and the two have sex with Camille refusing to take her clothes off. The look on her face is absolutely haunting - here she is once again struck into the bottom of despair by her own mother, reaching for whatever love she can find. We see the word "closer" carved into her body before the episode ends.

Also I need to give the shout to out to the brilliant Elizabeth Perkins who plays Jackie, the sassiest person in Wind Gap. I have a feeling Jackie's role is going to be expanded in the show and considering how the show adds to the book and how gossipy her character is perhaps it is through her that we will find out the truth about Camille's dad. Also she remarked that the Preaker girls love a man with the badge - so perhaps Adora really is having the affair with Vickery, as some viewers suspected after last week's episode.
    On the next episode....

1x06 "Cherry - Adora (Patricia Clarkson) provides Chief Vickery (Matt Craven) with a key piece of evidence in the Ann Nash murder case. Richard (Chris Messina) probes for details about Camille’s dark past. John’s (Taylor John Smith) girlfriend, Ashley (Madison Davenport), looks to make news for herself. Amma (Eliza Scanlen) bonds with Camille (Amy Adams) during and after a wild party. Written by Dawn Kamoche & Ariella Blejer; directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.

  • I give you the dumbest thing the Academy has ever done. This is a disgrace. Not only is it clearly just to give Black Panther something, because God forbid give it anything else, but honestly...this is the Academy Awards not freaking MTV Movie Awards.
  • And that 3 hour telecast? It already makes me so mad that the people who win in editing etc. aren't given enough of time to do speeches when 'important' people like actors are, now it is gonna get worse. Relegate them to commercial breaks....how utterly disrespectful.
  • I really detest Academy's bias against CBM. It's laughable Logan only got one nomination, it still got applause during the announcement because with their bias it was quite the accomplishment. Now they are just confirming it - it's like saying blockbusters are worse and cannot compete with 'real' films in one category.
  • For fuck's sake. Let's just have Meryl Streep tattoo Kimmel's ass on television live, because clearly it's all about the ratings, huh?
  • Funny thing is that Disney is probably behind all of this.
  • Speaking of disasters over at Disney:
  • Bye, bitch.
  • Not only is Bautista so ride or die for this dude, which I can maybe understand since he gave him his big movie break and maybe was super cool to him but what the hell is up with ordinary folks acting as if Gunn personally rescued their own mothers from a burning building? You really wanna defend someone who made "jokes" like that? Who cares how long ago it was or who dug them up. I personally don't know a single person who made a joke like that even once. Again, if a dude in his 40's chooses to, for whatever reason, make a 'joke' like that he should be prepared to face the consequence.
  • Also, seriously, do we really think Disney fired him, in less than a day since that scandal blew up, a dude who made them so much money, over some tweets? Not only was that swift, but Gunn made one statement and didn't say anything since. Isn't this suggesting there is more public is not aware of? I'm not saying he actually did something to a child but anything criminal or even unsavory they are worried that will be dug up if the light is shone on him long enough.
  • What the hell, Marvel? Is he the only goddamn director in Hollywood who can direct this?
  • And then there is this - Disney is working on the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. So what is going on here? Because if Depp is coming back then this is some weird duality - tweets are a no-no but pulling your wife's hair out of her head and beating her up is cool?
  • Fortunately, Depp's recent movie is unsurprisingly trash and was pulled from theatrical release, so at least that's one down.
  • Meanwhile, Henry Cavill is becoming more and more desperate throwing ideas around as he is in the process of negotiations with WB for the next Superman movie. He is now saying he would like to play the lead in Netflix's The Witcher
  • WB is not taking the bait. They literally just announced Supergirl movie. I cannot wait to see what Cavill does next to try to get them to pay him more money.
  • BossLogic did a fan art of Cavill as Geralt and it's hawt. I actually want him to do this. That sex scene on the stuffed unicorn from the game? Come on, do it.
  • Oh no, so sad. It's just awful, isn't it? *sarcasm sign*
  • Bruce "I'll do anything"Willis.
  • Here's the photo of Margot Robbie in this Tarantino shamefest. She looks like herself and everyone is going "oh my God, she looks just like Sharon Tate! Give her all the Oscars!". Gurl what?
  • What the fuck is that? Poor Keira
  • Gal Gadot on the set of Wonder Woman 1984.
  • First we had speculations Dark Phoenix will be shelved, now we have amusing news it's undergoing reshoots.....three months of reshoots. The budget is now over 300 million dollars.
  • There is no way Feige wants this group of rejects (minus James McAvoy) to migrate to MCU. I imagine The Disgrace of House Stark, Floppy Miguel and The Falsely Empowered One knocking on Feige's door to bring him candy and teddy bears and beg him to take them in and him shutting  the door in their faces.
  • And yet Chastain still didn't say a word.
  • New picture from A Star is Born. There's probably gonna be a new trailer soon and I just cannot imagine them topping the first one. It's the greatest trailer since the first trailer for Logan.
  • In very important news, Hugh Jackmanwent to the beach
  • Ugh, adorable!
  • And here's that wig of horror in a new picture from The Front Runner:
  • Apparently Idris Elbamay be the new Bond. But this is what's really important here.
  • More horrific images of Hardy as Al Capone, at that point it's like a weekly nightmarish occurrence that we see more of this and we're disgusted. That guy's face in the background of the second picture says it all.
  • Speaking of Hardy, ladies and Gentlemen I give you the one true turd in the wind:
  • Give the woman an Emmy.
  • If you aren't watching the show, do because once the final episode airs everyone is going to be talking about the twist.
  • Fantastic interview with Jean-Marc Vallee about the show.
  • And here's incredible interview with Kathleen Turner, the level of shade and sass here is amazing.
  • New TV spots for The Nun (1,2) and new still of fearless Taissa Farmiga facing the demon:
  • The one true supreme Jessica Lange is coming back to American Horror Story. Sadly Angela Bassett is not gonna be in this season which is such a waste. But Taissa Farmiga and Lily Rabe will be back. And for the very first time in AHS....Joan Collins!
  • New picture from Suspiria:
  • And of Dan Stevens in Apostle, easily the winner of the best poster this year:
  • Over the weekend I did very valuable things. I organized my closet and decided it's just pointless and I need to buy a second one. I also watched not one not two but three Nicolas Cage movies.
  • And one of them was actually freaking awesome. Drive Angry starring Cage and yaaaas queen slay Amber Heard - it was a total blast. At one point of it Cage was banging a waitress, while he was wearing suit and sunglasses and smoking a cigar. And that's just the beginning of the scene. Also Amber dragged a naked whore who was banging her boyfriend out of the house and punched her in the face. It was amazing. And Wiliam Fichtner is such a brilliant and underrated actor. Watch this one, it's so much fun!
  • Then I watched both parts of Ghost Rider. The first one was just boring and the second one was an impossible mess. But it did have this scene which made it worth seeing.
  • I started Mindhunter which is amazing. I saw 4 episodes so far and I cannot wait to see the rest, what an insanely gripping show.
  • Brand new still from Aquaman:
  • Netflix is adapting another Stephen King's story - In the Tall Grass
  • With Patrick Wilson.
  • Yeah, that's enough for me to watch.
  • See, I knew I was in trouble when Jason was there at the Con yet it was Wilson who made me laugh the hardest. Then I went oooh I never finished Fargo 2 so now I'm watching it.
  • Then I remembered his ass in Little Children.
  • And that's the romantic story of my crush.
  • And now he is gonna get lost in the grass.
  • I'm trying so hard not to explode with puns.
  • ...
  • .....
  • .......
  • I wish he got lost in my grass.
  • (I really tried to hold it in, but couldn't)
  • Still, his part is probably gonna be really small since the novella is basically focused on only two main characters. It's quite disturbing, think mother! meets Signs.
  • There's also this
  • "Wilson will play Edwin Layton, the rear admiral in the U.S. Navy who was a key intelligence officer during WWII".
  • "REAR admiral"?
  • LAWD.
  • The man signing up for something entitled "In the tall grass" and another project where he is playing "REAR admiral" is just deliberately provocative.
  • He is in Poland a lot because his wife is Polish so I need to like....go out more? Or hide immediately.
  • Getter informed me his wife's sister, also Polish actress, is married to Scott Foley. There's also another Polish actress Colin Farrell knocked up.
  • I've got nothing!
  • I should have become an actress and get to USA on a raft or something, no matter what.
  • My God. I now want to bang the majority of Aquaman cast members.
  • *collapses*

    Sharp Objects 1x06 Cherry

Two episodes left and the things on Sharp Objects are figuratively and literally spinning out of control with our protagonist losing her grip on reality and responsible or sane behavior more and more the longer she stays in the town and the closer she gets to her sister. This episode brought a fan favorite scene - the party Camille attends with Amma. And as all the previous episodes, it did source material justice.

At the beginning, we are back in a motel room where we are treated to yet another strategically shadowed shot of nude Chris Messina. Camille gets up and leaves after their brief exchange and quick kiss. This episode on a whole seemed like a very rapid cool-down of their relationship. You see Richard here is one of those guys who pose as not an asshole but really are one. Sure, he is not a rapist or a killer but that's not enough for a gold star, Dick. Richard starts asking questions about Camille, even visits her rehab and then tries using drunk Jackie to give him some answers.
But Jackie is a pro and gives him nothing, in fact it's him who reveals to her that Camille's roommate in rehab killed herself. I don't know if this leads anywhere in next episodes, but I am hoping we are getting the last scene between Jackie and Camille from the novel. And yes, the police work in the town is still really wonderful. In fact, they get a big break - but of course not because of anything they did. Someone on Adora's hog farm calls in to report they saw a bike of Ann Nash' being dumped into pig shit....by John Keene.

Adora gets a call about it and heads to the spot, lying to Camille that she has to run the errands in the pharmacy. Camille, when she finds out what her mom's trip was about, is furious. Adora throws more passive aggression her way and then uses Alan to inform Camille that she is no longer welcome to stay in the mansion. Up until that point I think everyone either suspected or liked Alan for chilling with his music and not paying attention to the messed up stuff happening around him. But now that we had Alan tell Camille to be nicer to her mother and stop telling Adora of the dead girls which we know Camille didn't do...yeah we all don't like him, don't we?
That's not all of the weak men we saw this week. Camille visits Ashley who has John Keene properly whipped and wrapped around her finger. Before she gets into the house she sees Amma hanging around the house in a provocative manner, hitting on and insulting John at the same time. Ashley offers Camille lines about how the murdered girls were angels which Camille quickly realizes is lies.

Thankfully, we get a sweet moment with Frank checking in on Camille and his wife talking to her as well. Camille also gets support from a girl she used to know in high school - perhaps the most unpleasant thing in this episode, worse than distant mothers and messed up teenagers are the scenes where Camille attends the party thrown by her former cheerleader-friends. They are completely different than she is, the kind of women who only care about their husbands and kids. They inform Camille how much more understanding for pain they have because they are mothers.
    Those bitches, man..

I'm actually hoping they change things around from how they end in the novel and someone sets this whole place on fire because - get this - one of the guys who raped Camille, another weak guy currently occupying the hellhole that is Wind Gap, and who has some delusions about not being a pig, no offense to pigs - corners her during that party to apologize for raping her. Camille, still in denial, leaves him in that hallway with his bullshit excuses.
Later, as Camille is getting her usual vodka, inebriated Amma and her friends run into her and convince Camille to join them for a party. Amma even gets Camille to do drugs. At the party John and Ashley make an appearance and leave after people get uncomfortable around John but not before it is implied Natalie bit off part of Ashley's earlobe. Ashley tells Camille to ask Adora about Natalie.

As Camille starts feeling the influence of drugs, Amma drags her out of the house and the two rollerskate around empty Wind Gap, in part dreamlike and part nightmarish scene. As they arrive to the house they collapse on the grass and we find out that Amma would like to live with Camille and she hates life in Wind Gap. The two start spinning around and Camille has flashes of all the dead girls - Marian, Alice, Ann and Natalie. After they fall on the ground, they get up and go to Camille's room and collapse on the bed, with Adora lurking near, peeking inside. Suddenly someone grabs Camille's hand, gently. In the mirror's reflection Camille sees her dead sister, telling her it's not safe for Camille there.
With only two episodes left it seems that we should be getting the reveal of the killer next episode, but who knows. There's only a handful of things that are left to happen from the novel and despite this being the 6th episode there's still a lot of foreshadowing and clue throwing to do. The show already set up the twist beautifully but they still need to portray why the killer murdered the girls which so far wasn't hinted at.

The rollerskate through town scene is my favorite in the show so far. The camera work was stunning as was the mix of several different songs playing in the scene. Once again Adams knocked it out of the park - we understand Camille's irresponsible actions, she wants to feel like she has a sister again and she is taking any joy she can find. The chemistry between Adams and Scanlen is just lovely and while Amy makes Camille more likable than she was in the book, watching Eliza is as if complicated and fascinating Amma stepped right out of the book. This girl is going to be a huge star.
    On the next episode....

1x07 "Falling" - Camille (Amy Adams) crosses a line in her investigation of the prime suspect. Richard (Chris Messina) coaxes Jackie (Elizabeth Perkins) to offer up info about Marian Preaker’s death. Adora (Patricia Clarkson) takes pains to keep an ailing Amma (Eliza Scanlen) under her roof and in her care.Written by Gillian Flynn & Scott Brown; directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.

  • Oh, Adora.
  • I'm very happy for Samantha Robinson, even if it is this movie. Now let's just get Anna Biller a new film
  • Mark Walhberg, everyone.
  • Oh, what a surprise.
  • Of course Bautista made it worse. This hardly caught the fire in the news and this dumbass retweets it to his million of followers.
  • Yesterday the news broke that Disney won't back down and Gunn is not coming back. Will someone check on Dave? He must be taking this so hard, poor thing.
  • Chris Hemsworth's birthday brought a lot of hilarious social media posts with it - 1,2,3
  • And here's the new poster for Bad Times at the El Royale
  • He is shirtless front and center.
  • That's just good marketing.
  • Lord and savior legend and my captain oh captain James Wanhelped direct The Nun.
  • Here's new poster for the movie. We are 3 weeks away and still no new trailer so the marketing is really...what's the word...interesting. Here's scary new TV spot.
  • And another one.
  • Oh, Idris.
  • It's been a while since I brought something this amazing to my readers.
  • Ladies and gentlemen....
  • ....I give you...
  • POOPGATE.
  • First of all, I love that out of all the pictures of Boo they chose the one where she looks like the sasssiest diva that ever sassed.
  • Second of all... Are we sure Depp didn't shit the bed himself and just... forgotten?
  • Third of all, I actually don't even know what to say here. I have been dealing with divorce cases for years and never have I ever witnessed someone accusing a spouse of taking a crap in the bed and the accused blaming it on a dog.
  • I can't even.
  • People are debating the poop sizes on comments sections now. Good God almighty.
  • I think it's clear - the side we should be on? Boo's.
  • Also where is Pistol in all of this? Is he thinking of legal strategy of how to get Boo out of this mess? Maybe it was Pistol who shat there and Boo is taking the blame? Will they appear in the court? There's just so many questions here.
  • Also I found out the dogs are with Amber now so thank God for it. She seems....relatively more stable of the two.
  • Meanwhile, it looks likeBrad and Angelina are just few steps away from accusing each other of crapping on furniture like degenerates.
  • Here's new picture of the cast of Wonder Woman 1984:
  • I don't know know what the fuck is happening here (apparently this), I just know that this picture is HILARIOUS.
  • They all look like they are on drugs, each on different one, with Pine clearly having taken something defective.
  • Look at his face! He looks like he was rescued from drowning!
  • Another new picure from Apostle, this time with first look at the amazing Michael Sheen:
  • New trailer for Widows. This is much better than the first one.
  • Oh, but that doesn't meanNeeson is not gonna do trash anymore.
  • The film has Neeson playing a character named Nels Coxman, and really that should be all you need to know. But if you want more info, here goes: Nels Coxman is “a local snowplow operator recently named Citizen of the Year of his small Colorado ski town for keeping the roads open through the winter. Nels’ quiet life with his wife (Laura Dern) abruptly spins out of control when their son is unjustly murdered by a local drug cartel. Taking the law into his own hands with only the tools of an outdoorsman and snowplow driver, Nels sets out to find those responsible but inadvertently ignites a gang war that threatens to engulf the town – unless he ends it first.”
  • Good God ,so much here:
  • - Laura Dern in another thankless wife role, are they kidding?
  • -"UNJUSTLY murdered"
  • - "with only the tools of an outdoorsman and snowplow driver" - looool
  • Sounds gloriously stupid, cannot wait. I bet when he gets off snowplow there's gonna be at least 15 editing cuts.
  • Here's Tilda Swinton in new picture from Suspiria -->
  • Bradley Cooper is out there already promoting himself to multiple nominations for A Star is Born. I just need him to say he was tricked into singing that petition to rehire Gunn and we're all good.
  • Hardybased his Capone voice on Bugs Bunny.
  • Yep. This is the thing that has happened.
  • "he plays me a clip of the raw footage on his phone,” Esquire reports. “Sure enough, he  sounds like the cartoon rabbit with a severe case of vocal fry.”
  • Jesus Christ, man.
  • Do me a favor: watch this - 1,2, - you won't regret it.
  • Jason went to the beach:
  • There are NO WORDS.
  • No, really, THERE ARE NO WORDS.
  • Here's new merchandise from Aquaman:
  • That tiny one, last row, second character, that's apparently "Princess Scales".
  • I have no idea who that character is but all I envision is a sassy underwater Lyanna Mormont.
  • I just can't stop laughing at this. From the man who brought us Lipstick-face demon, Valak and Annabelle...comes Princess Scales!
  • Also look at Orm's smirk.
  • *meows underwater*
  • I finally made some edits from Aquaman and of Aquaman cast. Patrick's face here, my God:
  • Also the swivel thing!
  • Can they please stop being so goddamn precious?!:
  • Seriously, this cast is adorable
  • Well, other than Amber possibly shitting in the bed.
  • I don't think I can get worse.
  • But I'm sure....I will.
  • Why are they allowed to take pictures like this?
  • Watch this, it's amazing! Wan is probably the most likable director out there. And Patrick's flirting is way too much. I almost drowned in my own sweat watching this.
  • "BOOberry". Oh good God. We have a boo name here.
  • He cute!
  • He kinky!
  • My livetweet of Stretch needs to be seen to be believed.
  • And the one for Insidious.
  • And the one for Bone Tomahawk.
  • Then I saw The Commuter. That also got out of hand.
  • I also rewatched Little Children but didn't livetweet it, fearing for my followers' well being.

    Sharp Objects 1x07 Falling

    (spoiler-free!)

The penultimate, stunning episode of Sharp Objects set the stage for finale particularly for the confrontation between Camille, now barely hanging on, having lost everything with only her desire to deliver justice and protect Amma remaining, and Adora, who we all saw for the monster she truly is, in ways that book readers might not have expected.

This episode we finally found out the truth or at least a part of it - Adora has been poisoning her daughters. She is the reason Marian died. She is poisoning Amma. And she wants to poison Camille. Camille kept resisting her all those years, a main reason why she is Adora's least favorite daughter and why Adora never loved her. The nurse who took care of Marian explains to Richard, sent there on a tip from Jackie, that Adora has Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a condition (that we also saw in last year's Phantom Thread) that causes her to poison her children in order to be seen as a noble caregiver by others. As someone who read the book twice I cannot help but feel that the reveal was anti-climatic for the viewers unfamiliar with the story and the scene with the nurse should have come after Camille has her montage of memories near the end.
We see Adora trying to take care of Camille in the beginning of the episode. Camille gets away. She goes to Amma's room and Amma is all docile, playing off her hungover as being sick for Adora's sake. Amma plays Adora's game allowing Adora to make her sick, echoing what we heard from Amma last episode that sometimes when you let someone do something to you, you are doing it to them. Camille tells her not to do that and leaves.

To make some really bad choices again.

Camille wants to get a quote from John so she tracks down him in a bar. The two talk, laugh and soon end up in a motel together. John starts undressing Camille and reading her scars out loud, moving her to tears. Camille hasn't been touched like that in years and while it's clearly wrong for her to be sleeping with a main suspect who is about to arrested, and a teenage boy, she takes that one chance she has to be seen and fully loved, unlike with Richard. And of course as always when Camille experiences joy, she will have to pay for it.
Richard bursts through the door to find Camille in bed with John. John gets arrested by Vickery and even he withstands judgment of Camille, but not Richard. He starts insulting her and he calls her a slut and a drunk who had "one bad thing happen to her".

OK, back up just one moment, Mr. Shadowed Penis.

You just read through Marian's medical records. So you can probably imagine what it was it like living with Adora as her mother. You also know Camille's roommate committed suicide. "One bad thing"? A "slut" A "drunk"? Mr. drinks in a bar and goes to rehab to find info about a chick he slept with once and knows for a few days instead of looking for a killer of little girls?

    FUCK OFF!

It was just heartbreaking seeing Camille beg this complete douche for forgiveness.
Yet Inept Dickie Boy still leaves Marian's file for Camille to find. What the hell is happening here? He is a cop. Why isn't he arresting Adora? We also saw him go to the hospital and check Amma's records so he knows Adora is also poisoning her youngest daughter. The police in Wind Gap is just beyond incompetent at this point. In the book it was Camille who talked to the nurse so it made way more sense. It's a bizarre and unnecessary change in the adaptation, one that I cannot understand. The way it goes in the book is that Camille starts putting things together - her mother being bit by one of the the girls, the fact that she keeps 'taking care' of the girls - and she tracks down the nurse. Then she goes to Richard and finds out he was already suspecting Adora because of James Capisi's story about Woman in White etc. So why the change? I love Flynn but she does those things. Like with Scoot McNairy's character in Gone Girl. In the book there is no sob story about him being on sex offenders registry and being unable to find the job, it only appears in the adaptation. Why another change to prop up the male character, Gillian? WHY?

Camille finds the the medical records and reads through them and then rushes to Jackie who confirms her worst suspicions. There's a moment where Jackie comments how bad her bloody marys are but Camille still drinks them - interesting reflection of Camille being so conditioned into thinking she has to take what is offered, seeing how rejecting what her mother was offering her caused her rejection by her.
The fact that Jackie knew that Adora was poisoning Marian is more spelled out than in the book where Jackie simply tells Camille to get out of that house. Here Camille is mad at Jackie for not doing more and storms out, leaving devastated Jackie behind. I hope this is not the last we see of Jackie.

Now Camille knows. It is her own mother who killed Marian. Camille has a breakdown in her car (beautifully played by Adams!) and calls Curry tearfully shouting that it was her mother who did it. Camille imagines Adora as Woman in White, thinking her mother killed not only Marian but also Ann and Natalie. Camille starts thinking back on events and remembers a chilling moment when she saw her mother bit baby Amma's cheek, causing her to cry. Curry tells her to fly home immediately but Camille hangs up, determined to go back and rescue Amma.
This episode also dropped a bombshell that wasn't in the book by implying that Alan is well aware of what Adora is doing. He thinks of happy time with Amma, dancing with her and he tears up. We also got few interesting developments with Vickery - Jackie kept teasing him about "other girl", the lyrics of the song he listens in the car talk of "cheating". Richard actually manages to be semi-competent for a moment and asks him about how Marian died and Vickery immediately disregards that as gossip. But perhaps there is hope - last we see him he sees Amma's friends skating. They tell him Amma is sick. He repeats "sick", perhaps the truth about Adora finally dawning on him.

The episode ends on the montage of Camille's dream of looking inside Amma's dollhouse (which opened the episode), Alan tearing up, Camille arriving home and Amma, defiant, with a crown of flowers on her head, looking at Marian's urn. There's also a very nice little detail in the last frame, someone on reddit pointed out to me - the painting on the right? The girl in it waves her hand, as if she was saying goodbye.
There's so much left to show. There are literally 10 pages left in the book but they are so packed with information they could easily do two episodes out of them, but unfortunately it looks like the finale is only 49 minutes long. I am not sure about some of the changes they made from the book already, all of them in this episode. Hopefully they do the novel justice with the ending. My one wish? That we get Adora's diary entries. That was the most disturbing thing about her character for me.

    On the next episode....

  • With the things I watched and read this week I really feel like Rust Cohle.
  • PSA: Sharp Objects finale has post credits scene!
  • New poster for Widows. It's not bad but it's kinda disrespectful to Coon and Weaver to not feature them like that. Not to mention they did Jon Bernthal dirty and didn't even feature his name on the poster.
  • We have our first look at the reunited witches on the set of AHS: Apocalypse.
  • Connie Britton and Dylan McDermottare also returning for the new season.
  • For the love of God, someone save that cat.
  • Oh and she also joined that Tarantino's mess. Nepotism is also present.
  • Here's picture of Nicole Kidman in her new movie Destroyer. She looks like regular, human woman in her 50's. Everyone looses their minds about the "transformation". Relax, it's just Kidman without make up. Though, admittedly, she looks better than me and I'm 28.
  • Creepy trailer for Hold the Dark. I read the script this week. It's utter nonsense. Good atmosphere and one really outstanding scene but I kept reading hoping for good conclusion and it was just awful. One of those times when you really wish the story was stronger because everything else looks good.
  • Ed Harrisis gonna be in Top Gun sequel.
  • New poster for The Favourite.
  • Before we start laughing here's garbage take of the week. This is one person, not the movement. And what she has done is awful. And the fact she shifts the blame to someone who is dead is also gross.
  • Ben Affleck's stupid antics strike again.
  • He is also back in rehab, apparently because of Jennifer Garner who personally drove him there. How strange that this is happening right before her new movie is opening.
  • Strange indeed.
  • An end of an era - the next season of The Big Bang Theorywill be its last. I feel old (has it really been 12 years?!) and quite sad. I know a lot of people hate this show for some reason but I really like it, I saw all the episodes and I always have Comedy Central on and reruns air all the rime.
  • Let me kick you when you are down - not only is TBBT 12 years old....we just celebrated 20th anniversary of the premiere of That 70's Show.
  • New trailer for Suspiria which teases THAT highly unpleasant scene. I have no idea how they will stretch that script to 2,5h....cinematography looks fantastic and this is Yorke's score, isn't it? Sounds terrific. And they are still pretending Tilda isn't playing that dude even when we hear clearly her speaking as him....that's dedication.
  • New pictures from The Nun:
  • And this, if you are in the mood for shitting yourself.
  • We now know how that "What happened to poor Chris Pine that he looks so traumatized" Wonder Woman 1984 cast photo ended up online and the explanation is hilarious.
  • I think maybe Chris watched truly crappy trailer for his next movie and hence his expression:
  • I am absolutely cackling about whatever it is on Kick Ass' head in Outlaw Kingtrailer. Sweet lord Jesus what is that? The film looks cheap as hell too, not even Stephen Dillane will manage to save this thing. I will obviously watch this since it's gonna be on Netflix also I never turn down the opportunity to make fun of Kick Ass. Honestly between the wigs, the accents and at that point straight up horrific "Netflix original film" slogan, this has no chance of being good.
  • Also I will see anything on Netflix which was proven again by me watching the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie this weekend just because I was already in bed and had the remote nearby.
  • I actually laughed during several moments.
  • I hate myself so much.
  • But I Imagine Javier Bardem hates himself more. Or at least he should because he was terrible in that movie.
  • Also my good Lord what is it with this franchise and casting those bland boys? There really aren't any vaguely charismatic actors under 35 years of age in Hollywood?
  • I mentioned nepotism.
  • I mentioned stupid.
  • I mentioned bland.
  • So, ladies and gentlemen, here's Scott Eastwood!
  • Still, to end this portion of RF on positive note - Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, everyone (1,2)
  • On Monday I binged the entire season 1 of The Sinner. See this is what happens when I have a day off. Well, it wasn't a day 'off' I took a personal day because I wasn't feeling well, but still, I started watching this in the evening, boom! Entire season finished in a day. The rest of the week I've been coming home so tired I didn't watch anything.
  • Let's start with what's most important and that's - what on Earth has Bill Pullman done to his face? Dude looks like he is always smirking. He is out there investigating a murder and he looks like he took happy pills and is getting laid while watching Paddington. Just pure joy, man.
  • The show has great premise, Biel is really good and the 7th episode where it all comes together is amazing. But it's more Prison Break than Sharp Objects. It's kinda cheap, the production values aren't great and there are some huge plot holes. Still, it was very entertaining.
  • Mindhunter, which I finally finished, shockingly isn't much better. Unlike The Sinner, thanks to Fincher, the show has style but the overall structure of the season was poor. There are many great scenes but the protagonist and his insufferable girlfriend are not interesting. You kinda watch it for the killers, not the heroes.
  • Not only did I watch two The Conjuring movies late on Saturday (livetweets - 1,2)...
  • ....but like a total moron I gifed that.
  • To be fair it was for a noble purpose and to raise awareness on twitter and tumblr that Bonnie Aarons who plays the Nun also played the bum behind Winkies in Mulholland Drive and this moment here where she peeks from behind the column reminded me of that.
  • This got no likes and no retweets so I scared myself for NOTHING.
  • Look:
  • Look how cute Booberrry is.
  • Jason about wearing iconic Aquaman outfit - "I feel like a ’59 Cadillac -- like an El Dorado -- got the wings on the side, a little flare off the calf and my nine-pack, which I don’t really have."

    Against the Crowd 2018

Dell is hosting his super awesome Against the Crowd blogathon again and I decided to participate. Here are the rules:

    1. Pick one movie that "everyone" loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of 75% or more on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it.

    2. Pick one movie that "everyone" hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of 35% or less on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it.

    3. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies.

Who can forget my previous entries - 20172015 and 2014. Last year I was blessed with a movie I violently hated in Baby Driver. Now, there is plenty of movies I hated this year and last but somehow when coming up with the film to hate on this week when I wrote this Call Me By Your Name, which Dell himself trashed and A Quiet Place which I personally trashed already and has 95% on RT (what the FUCK, man) escaped my memory. I was going to go with Arrival but I am supposed to give it another chance so I didn't choose this one. I was also considering defending the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie but I'd rather eat my own shit than defend anything with Depp, so here we are.

I remember being mildly annoyed by this film but now that Joss Whedon was confirmed to be a pig and Scarlett Johansson is progressively becoming more and more of a piece of trash with, it seems, every passing month and still remains the highest paid actress in Hollywood somehow, I decided to just go ahead and pick this one. When you see a score like that for something this messy and forgettable you really have to wonder if Rotten Tomatoes doesn't put an effort to keep Disney happy. A nonsensical, boring and utterly misogynistic (who can forget Black Widow declaring she is a monster because she cannot have children?) movie that has no business getting majorly good reviews. Quicksilver shows up to quip and die, Scarlet Witch sports absolutely horrific accent and James Spader is utterly wasted. The only redeeming thing about this movie is Chris Evans chopping wood. MCU's worst effort here. Not just forgettable like Doctor Strange and Homecoming, but also offensive, stupid and overstuffed.

Shockingly, not many movies with Jason qualified for this blogathon. I've seen almost all of them and there is no way I can sit here and defend Wolves with a straight face so Conan the Barbarian it is.

Jason shows his ass in this. Also it's really not that bad.

The movie, I mean. Because the ass is God tier.

I could write more but this should be enough for you to see the film and understand that 23% is way too low.

    Such sights.....should be celebrated.

"A child weaned on poison considers harm a comfort.”

A crucial line from the novel didn't make it into the last episode of Sharp Objects, a finale that mostly delivered and majorly surprised. And thus all of Gillian Flynn's books have been adapted (and yes, what as shame it is we didn't get Dark Places adaptation that was worthy of the novel). I've gotta say that as wonderful as Fincher's Gone Girl was Jean-Marc Vallée really did wonders here, even though you still wish for more of the scenes from the book were featured on screen.

The episode begins with a chilling dinner scene in Adora's house. Adora is celebrating that John Keane was arrested while Amma is dressed up as Persephone with giant crown of flowers. Adora checks Amma's temperature and begins to lead her away to give her 'medicine' and Camille pretends to be ill to allow Adora to focus on her and spare Amma.

Camille and Adora bond in a twisted way - Camille finally allows Adora to 'care' for her and finally feels loved by her mother even though she knows she is poisoning her. Only in the world from Flynn's books such scenes are possible and actually feel realistic and touching. Adora shares a story about her own mother leaving her in the woods and you almost feel sorry for her. Turns out women have been hurting women in this family for generations. What chance did Adora really have to ever be a good mother without having maternal love in her life? And with all the pressure that is on women, particularly in Wind Gap, not becoming a mother was never a choice.

We also see short scene of interrogation of John Keane as well as Alan and Vickery having a small confrontation. While all of this is going on Richard begins wondering where Camille is, finally arriving to the house where Alan lies to him that Camille is out, proving that he indeed knows that what Adora is doing is wrong.

Camille gets worse and worse but uses her remaining strength to tell Amma to get Richard. In these moments Camille is willing to die for Amma because she believes it's the right thing to do and since she finds comfort in hurt and doesn't value her life at all it seems like a fitting end for her, at least in Camille's mind. Amma doesn't go, though, so stuck in the sick ways of her family. As Camille lies on the floor, close to death and hallucinates her sister Marian we see police lights outside revealing that - in departure from novel that I really liked - Curry, Camille's wonderful boss, came to Wind Gap and led the cops there.

Curry embraces Camille and Richard, horrified, sees her scares. Vickery talks to Adora and the cops find the pliers. Adora is arrested with Amma crying after her. Camille and Amma are taken to the hospital. When they are putting the needle in Camille's scarred arm she smiles slightly, not caring anymore who sees her scars. She is just so relieved it's all over and Amma is safe. Richard comes by to tell them that Adora was using rat poison and anti-freeze, among other things, to poison them. He also apologizes to Camille.

Then we see a wonderful, wordless montage in which it is revealed that Amma is now living with Camille and has befriend a neighbor, Mae. We see Adora pleading 'not guilty' in the courthouse. Then we see Camille bringing Amma to talk to Adora in prison, Adora and Amma tear up and touch their palms on the glass. Jackie comes over too and says hello to the girls outside but there is palpable feeling of distance between her and Camille, things forever changed now that Camille knows Jackie long suspected what Adora was doing but didn't manage to rescue Marian.

Back in St. Louis Curry reads Camille's article and praises it. In a nod to Flynn Camille writes of 'female rage', something that the writer's books deal with. Camille talks about how committed she is to raising Amma, seeing it as redemption for the sister she couldn't save. Mae is also there at the dinner and two things happen - Camille notices the writing on Mae's hand, much like Camille's own fixation with words. Also Mae talks to Curry about journalism. Both of those things upset Amma who wants to be the center of attention. Still, all those scenes lured you into the feeling of safety mostly because Adams and Scanlen have such wonderful chemistry and really seem like real sisters.

And then things started getting creepy. Amma asks Camille if she would like her to be a writer too. Camille answers that she just wants Amma to be happy. The next day Mae's mom comes over, asking if Camille saw Mae. She also tells her that Mae and Amma had their first fight. The picture of young Camille and Marian suddenly falls on the floor, as if her ghost was still there to help Camille realize that something is wrong.

Camille finds the mattress Mae made for Amma's dollhouse, thrown in trash. She goes to Amma's room to place the mattress in the dollhouse. She notices that a doll is placed in the dollhouse's window just like Natalie's dead body was placed in the alley. She looks inside and sees a single tooth. Then she looks closer and she notices the floor in Adora's room is made of human teeth, grotesque replica of Adora's ivory floor. Amma shows up in the door behind Camille. Camille turns around, stunned and Amma tells her, smiling sheepishly, "Don't tell mama".
During the end credits we see mid-credits scene of Amma killing Ann with the help of her rollerskaring friends, killing Natalie in the place where Ashley found all that blood under the bed and Amma strangling Mae. Feral, gleeful, violent. The post credits scene features Amma appearing as Woman in White and walking into the forest.

By having this as the chilling last line and by featuring it as the last moment of the show, with sprinkled nightmarish flashes of feral Amma depicting such glee in killing and showing such primal rage Jean-Marc Vallée did the unthinkable - in the adaptation the twist hits you as strongly as it does in the book. The twist in the novel is featured in the very short epilogue, reason for that is that Flynn's editor thought if they published the 30 more pages that she wanted to have there originally people would have guessed that the twist is coming. That way you had absolutely no idea. You read that Amma's new friend was killed but few lines later Camille finds the teeth. It's all happening so fast your mind doesn't even properly register suspicion. Even if you can figure out it was Amma you never expect something as horrific as her actually using the teeth like that.
The effect of abrupt horror is achieved here by having this as a very last moment. It's chilling and easily the most disturbing ending in any TV series or a movie in a very long time The flashes of Amma are truly horrific and the last thing we see is the frightening image of Amma as the Woman in White. This is nightmare fuel. Not just because of the way it is executed but because of what it all means - a child, still, so abused that she rebels not like Camille, in self-harm, but in violence and in such cruelty. And she does so with so much joy. And the way Scanlen delivers that final line - Amma reacting to Camille finding the teeth of three murdered girls as if Camille found and F on a test or an empty beer bottle, something that her mother would scold her for. The juxtaposition of the wild anger and of childlike reaction, as if the brutal killings were something trivial, is shocking.

The finale also did such a wonderful job at fooling the viewer - we first see Amma as a victim, as 'princess to save from a witch' but then in the end she is something worse than the witch. After all Adora killed 'through kindness'. Amma is brutal, remorseless and unstoppable. Her reason to kill isn't replicating the floor in the dollhouse - this is what is spelled out in the book and only hinted at in the series - it's her jealousy. She couldn't stand that Adora was paying attention to someone else. And it goes beyond that, as in the book she was planning on killing one of her 'friends' because she was being remorseful about what they have done.
I'm not sure whether Vallée'sapproach to the epilogue is incredibly strange or truly refreshing. He doesn't feature the most memorable things other than the dollhouse horror - Adora's diaries, the last scene of Camille in the bathroom, Amma with hair cut short in her institution. Part of me wonders if Vallée didn't betray Adams and Camille here. Adams was robbed of her biggest scene from the book - after Amma is locked up Camille moves in with Curry and Eileen (and may we all have someone in our lives like these two) and she carves the last patch of smooth skin on her back. Curry bursts through the door just in time to stop her from cutting her face. But still, after that, Camille goes on and says she is leaning towards kindness - yes, that line made it into the show but this is not the last thing we know of Camille, which in the book leaves us with hope. The show left us with horror.

Vallée chose to end Camille's journey by showing us her stunned, devastated, frightened and distraught expression hauntingly portrayed by Adams. The sister Camille saved is a murderer. The wickedness she run from is right there with her. Not only is her mother a killer, her sister is too. The only truly innocent person in her family - dead by her own mother's hand. Another layer to it - for those who didn't read the book, this is the ending that has our protagonist in a room with a cold-blooded killer. I can only imagine some people will assume Amma kills Camille if she tries to call the police. It's not an unreasonable assumption seeing how Amma showed to have considerable strength and viciousness.

But it wouldn't be a right assumption to make. Amma is a child. She got away with murder not because of her actions but because of the people around her who refused to believe a woman would kill. Amma's action are not guided by reason, they are guided by impulse. And for her in this moment Camille is the most important person in the world...well, other than mama.

The one thing that truly irks is that the series abruptly shifts focus - from on Camille and her journey to achieve some kind of peace to Amma and her rage. It's effective and it's jarring, which is exactly the way the novel's ending felt like but it also feels sadistic - Vallée stripped Camille of hope and we, the audience, saw the events through her. In the end we are left with that image of Amma, haunting us. I love it, I love dark endings but I just feel so bad for poor Camille.

I know Big Little Lies is coming back next year and that series was practically wrapped with a huge bow at the end. If Sharp Objects returns it strips that ending from being a haunting, chilling cliffhanger but dammit, if Big Little Lies gets a second season this should too. The information about the characters that is in epilogue alone would be enough for a decent portion of the season. Adams says she doesn't want to play this character any longer because of how traumatic Camille's experiences and life are. Come on, Amy. Don't leave us in the darkness.

Still, if this is truly the end we are given an iconic ending. That line - "don't tell mama" is already a classic and the way that they finally used "In the Evening" (heard from the first time in the very first episode as Camille enters Wind Gap) in all its glory during the end credits - before those flashes of horror came - was superb. And we have Eliza Scanlen on the rise to fame now - that accent she was doing in the show isn't even the way she speaks normally!

With that ending Vallée managed to accomplish something even darker than Fincher in Gone Girl. We were watching a character study only to have a rug pulled from under us in the end, finding ourselves in the middle of a horror, much like Camille. And we learned that the one person Camille wanted to save from the abyss has been in it for too long to be rescued. And just as Camille was out of it, at last, she was dragged back in. Like Persephone forced to returned to the underworld. Like an innocent child taken away by the wicked woman in white.

    Into the neverending darkness.

  • Oh sweet lord...
  • This aggressively hot vision of I wanna be in your cult, sir is from new trailer for Bad Times at the El Royale. That's how you sell a movie. Wet, shirtless, villainous Chris Hemsworth
  • I almost choked on my own drool.
  • So I slave and I slave over my Sharp Objects recap and 2 comments? Y'all...
  • I'm still so creeped out by that ending.
  • And Eliza Scanlen deserves EVERYTHING.
  • Mark my words -Cooper and Gaga campaigning for A Star is Born is gonna be the most entertaining Oscar campaign in a while. Just look at this
  • We have the soundtrack details
  • The movie just premiered in Venice and Gaga showed up to the red carpet in a stunning dress. The film is getting amazing reviews and she is getting raves for her performance. It's gonna be such an exciting Oscar season, just imagine her outfits!
  • That thing is so fierce even Mother Nature is shook!
  • About halfway through the screening of Bradley Cooper’s music drama, the theater was apparently struck by lightning, which blew out the projector bulb, according to sources close to the producers. The delay lasted about 15 minutes. Lady Gaga could be seen chuckling and blowing kisses to the audience as festival technicians scrambled to fix the issue.
  • Finally, the Oscar season WE DESERVE!
  • Not a good day for Ryan Gosling with this and Cooper emerging as the front runner in Best Actor race. Gosling out there pretending to be in space and dealing with Damien from Omen (I'm sorry but this is all I think of when I see Chazelle) and here comes Cooper with his shiny movie where he plays an alcoholic and a drug addict and cries and shouts and sings.
  • Look into his eyes. Look at that thirst:
  • This is by the way also the way I look at that above gif of Hemsworth
  • You know, if Ethan Hawke personally came to my house, took his pants off, took a shit on my carpet and then picked it up and flung it right on my wall like a fucking monkey I'd be less pissed at him than I am now
  • Good Lord almighty.
  • To think a movie is better or worse because of what genre it is or what the source material is or who directed it, no matter how good that movie turns out to be is just straight up moronic.
  • BITCH you were in Daybreakers. Take a step back. No, take few steps back. No, all the way back till you fall down the stairs.
  • Speaking of terrible. Scum all involved. Pure and simple.
  • At least Woody Allen is getting some time-out
  • David Fincher and Taratrash chose the same actor to play Charles Manson in their projects which is kinda cool.
  • After years of being disrespected and not getting paid enough Emmy Rossum is leaving Shameless. Also - that show is in its ninth season?! It's gotta be soap opera on crack by now.
  • First clip from Suspiria. Tomorrow we will have the reactions from Venice film festival.
  • Straight from Venice new trailer for First Man. This one was better than the last one, but still not great. Foy is easily stealing the spotlight here. The reviews are positive but not ecstatic and only the latter kind of reviews would make me excited for this one. It looks like stale, cliche biopic and the impressive technical side is always secondary to emotional one for me. I doubt I will care about any characters here.
  • So Oscar Isaachad a meeting about that upcoming Batman movie. And here come the ridiculous fanboys not fit to lick Schlong boo's boots saying that he is too short to be Batman. Oh, but the creature from dumpster lagoon is better, huh?
  • With my luck they'll cast Oscar as Two Face and wreck his beautiful face.
  • Finally, actual good trailer for The Predator
  • Intriguing first trailer for True Detective 3
  • Boo kangaroo is there for US Open. How can female players even look at the ball under these circumstances?
  • Trailer for The Front Runner and the great first poster. That's the wig of nightmares movie. Hugh is really trying to get that second nomination there and I hope he does because it's an absolute disgrace he got nothing for Logan last year.
  • Schindler's List is getting re-released. Look at that subtle poster.
  • I started watching Killing Eve and the tone of it surprised me so much. I thought it's gonna be dark but it's quirky like some hipster fashion show not a series about murders. It's different but I don't like it, just not my thing. Entertaining, but not the kind of show I would love.
  • I rewatched Arrival. It was marginally less dull than the last time I watched it, but that script is still a mess. That whole thing had holes as big as those damn alien ships and that she speaks to Chinese general plot is so poorly executed.
  • Also rewatched American Hustle. Jennifer Lawrence may have some charisma but it is not coincidental she doesn't have any Oscar vehicles now that Weinstein is out of the game. We all saw the pictures.
  • Bale and Renner are good since they play the only characters somewhat resembling human beings and Bradley Cooper seems to be the only one in on a joke.
  • *Amy Adams screaming on a toilet*
  • Jesus.
  • It was actually distressing seeing her slutting it up after being so sweet in Sharp Objects.
  • I saw Zipper which was pretty good even though it had the quality of low budget porn.

  • So...I turned 29 this week.
  • I am a year away from moving into the woods and becoming a crazy old lady.
  • As opposed to just 'crazy' and 'lady'.
  • Speaking of crazy, Brie Larson tweeted something is coming that will 'break the internet'.
  • Well, naturally people assumed it was going to be trailer for Captain Marvel. Nope. We got the usual EW cover and promo stills.
  • Woman, calm down and tweet accordingly.
  • Where is her neck on this cover?
  • And why does she look like she is about to take a dump?
  • The photos are nice but I am not a fan of this chick. Look at this. Someone said she is the kind of a girl who when asked where the toilet is at the party replies with "I have a boyfriend" and that is so true. I wish Marvel chose someone likable particularly since this girl is about to show up out of nowhere and make the heroes we know look weak.
  • What in the everloving fuck is happening here?
  • Oh my God, it's actually happening. I cannot wait for all sorts of dumb method acting stuff he will do.
  • A Star is Born premiered to a standing ovation at Venice. Gaga and Cooperactually went to the public screening to thank those who attended which was such a lovely gesture.
  • Poland gets this movie on November 30th, 7 weeks after US does. This is absolute torture for me.
  • Here's new sneak peak/trailer for the movie.
  • And another one.
  • And another one!
  • And another one!!!
  • In some screenings of The Nun WB actually added ALL four of those. The reactions to that are so funny.
  • But seriously, what a way to wreck a good thing. These are wonderful trailers but its so obnoxious to play four of them in front of a film.
  • The reactions coming from Toronto today - go through my twitter to check them - are ecstatic.
  • Unless Cooper sexually assaults a cat or something he is so fucking winning Best Actor Oscar. He is singing, he also directed this, he plays an alcoholic, he is doing crazy shit like lowering his voice for the role, the movie is a sad romance that's also a film about entertainment industry and it's gonna be a huge box office hit.
  • Also he is gonna promote that thing till he collapses.
  • This stupid flag controversy about First Man is getting worse
  • You can actually sense Cooper furiously inserting American flags into his movie.
  • New poster and trailer for The Favourite. If Olivia Coleman goes supporting for this then that is the second locked win this year already. Poor Amy Adams. Also that movie of hers doesn't even have a trailer yet
  • Teaser for new season of American Horror Story which premiers this Wednesday.
  • I don't wanna see any headlines about Ethan Hawke unless it is "Ethan Hawke begs Hugh Jackman for forgiveness".
  • BITCH apologize.
  • So Shane Black is kinda a creep and definitely an idiot. This news breaking won't stop him from continuing to feature young boys in his every film because he is clearly clueless as to how bad it looks now.
  • Look at this. But yes, we are getting Kingsman 3, as if there was not enough evil in the world.
  • Just what the hell is happening in Venice?!
  • The responses to this Ryan Reynolds' tweet are brilliant.
  • In a shocking twist, Game of Thrones has the potential to become even worse.
  • Honest Trailer for The Conjuring films.
  • Meanwhile The Nun is getting pretty bad reviews. And rightfully so. The film is really bad. The script had such potential and they totally mangled it. I'll review it soon.
  • Here's the first track from Thom Yorke's composed score for Suspiria. Yes, there are vocals. And yes, this is how this is gonna be in the movie. I can definitely see why many reviews found this jarring, it just doesn't fit.
  • New still from Apostle. Please be good.
  • Goodbye, Black Panther's Oscar.
  • Unfortunately, the Academyis still dumb as hell. I take day off the next day. I sit all night watching this. I wanna see everything, you bastards,
  • Why can't Laura Dernbe the President?
  • This is the funniest news of the week. Cavill is gonna play Geralt in The Witcher. This is hilarious because it means his negotiations with WB to play Superman in MoS sequel and get "A list" money failed. WB was like bitch, you aren't A list.
  • I rewatched all Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Transcendence and Anger Management. Please don't ask me about my actions.
  • I rewatchedVacation. Because of reasons:
  • First time I watched that I actually had to google if that missile was real. Turns out that it wasn't, but I bet the real thing is not much smaller.
  • I also rewatched Snow White and the Huntsman and that livetweet went pretty much as you would expect it to go.
  • At one point of this week I saw this picture --->
  • I don't know what happened next because I fainted.
  • On my birthday I actually rewatched The Cabin in the Woods. God, it's such a fantastic movie. Such an incredibly smart and creative script and the cast is so fun to watch.
  • So remember that Outlaw King trailer?
  • How poor it looked?
  • Kick Ass's stupid wig?
  • Pine's hilarious accent?
  • The fact that this is gonna be on Netflix?
  • Me cackling about it in at least 5 tweets?
  • IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE.
  • That's right, having Netflix is finally going to pay off.
  • Here's Chris talking about it.
  • Also the reviews are pretty good but who gives a fuck with this on the menu.
  • Apparently this particularly Pine tree isn't that big but hey, out of the things getting mentions in the reviews it's getting the most ink.
  • I think we are all thinking the same thing right now.
  • And that thing is - Chris Harmsworth take your pants off and reclaim your place as the chosen one!
  • And finally, Bad Times at the El Royale is gonna be amazing:
  • Katy breaks down A Star is Born trailer which I am unable to watch without crying
  • Alex writes about film commentaries
  • In the least surprising turn of events ever, Mario reviews Slender Man because of course he saw it
  • Unlike Mario, Brittani actually listens to me and ends up not wasting her time and watching good stuff like The Conjuring
  • Sonia reviews Fallout
  • Courtney writes about Legend

    The Nun

    (spoilers!)

The Nun is the fifth entry in The Conjuring universe and unfortunately it's the biggest disappointment in it yet. While not quite awful as the first Annabelle movie, the film is disjointed, boring and makes very little sense. In truth the only people who should pray for forgiveness here are director Corin Hardy and whoever did the rewrites on the promising script.

A priest with a haunted past, father Burke (Demián Bichir) and a novice on the threshold of her final vows, sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.
The film could have been either a serious, creepy horror film (like it was in original script) or a campy horror flick that doesn't take itself seriously. I read the script for it a while back and it's incredible how they destroyed it. It's complete chaos - whoever rewrote it added some camp to it (with only two moments - "the holiest!" and spitting out the blood of Jesus - working, the latter is truly meme-worthy) but a lot of serious moments remained. The result is a complete tonal chaos.

In the original script the story is basically the same but they added so many stupid 'funny' moments like Franchie taking that cross from the graveyard with him. The humor would be fine, if there were genuine moments of tension and terror. Unfortunately, whoever did the rewrites insisted on adding extra "scary" things where they were entirely unnecessary. The original beginning had just the nun who hangs herself, here we had another one and the introduction of the portal right off the bat. There's also ridiculous jump scare added in buried alive scene which would have been great otherwise, especially if it wasn't constantly jumping to sister Irene wandering around the cabin.
There's huge exposition dumps which worked better in the script, where it's some old guy in the village explaining the origin of evil, not an innocent nun in the abbey - that was a nice way of showing how the entire town is haunted with what lurks in the abbey. Everything is rushed, nothing is allowed a moment to breath. And Corin Hardy is just a terrible director - instead of leaving things to the audience's imagination, he insists on showing everything, like with flashbacks to priest Bruke's past and featuring Irene's visions.

Then there's the problem with the rules of the universe being broken - in The Conjuring 2 knowing the name of the demon gives you the power over it, here it's not the case and there's absolutely no explanation for it. Also near the end, since Valak already possessed Frenchie, how can it fight Irene in the very next scene? Very little in this movie actually makes sense and it's such a blatant manner you actually go "hold on, it's so stupid!" as you are watching it.
But the worst part is the impossibly mangled ending. The twist of Frenchie being the man we see in the flashback in The Conjuring is the same as in the first draft of the script, but the original actually had a brand new scene with the Warrens with them walking into Frenchie's house right after he kills his wife. Then Lorraine looks in the mirror and sees Valak.

What the fuck? WB couldn't bring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga to shoot 15 seconds scene? This is strike two. Same as with Ocean's 8 earlier this year the studio seems perfectly fine with doing spin offs but cannot even be bothered to bring the beloved stars of the original to make short appearance. It's insulting to the audience. And the way The Nun ended up connecting to the other films was done in the cheapest way possible - with the film using the footage from The Conjuring 2 in the beginning and then that ending using the old footage from The Conjuring. Oh I'm sorry, I am not being fair. After all, they went through the trouble of recording one new line from Patrick Wilson.
The film is only watchable because of pretty good atmosphere - the cinematography is lovely and Abel Korzeniowski's epic, chilling and tense score is easily the best thing in this film. Valak's design is terrific and for all the digs some people take at it, that it simply looks like Marilyn Manson in drag it's a truly horrifying monster.

Problem is that the demon's actions make very little sense here. Valak simply chills out, transforms into various forms (which really takes the horror away a little bit, as cool as it was to finally see the classic depiction of the demon with snakes etc.) for absolutely no reason and jumpscares at people just for shits and giggles. At one point it starts taunting Frenchie and I was legit embarrassed to witness that.
Fortunately, there's great cast with Bichir and Farmiga having lovely chemistry. Farmiga, younger sister of Vera, who plays Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring films possess same kind of delicate grace her sister has and radiates such light and kindness. I also give props to the film for not going the easiest route and having Irene turn out to be Lorraine in the ending. However the story is so incoherent there are people who are confused and assume Irene is Lorraine.

With the incredible amount of money The Nun is making and the sequel being inevitable, I'm sure they will travel that particular path. But hopefully if they do Vera will actually show up in the sequel in an entirely new scene and not re-used footage and the sequel ends up being an improvement, much like the great Annabelle Creation was.

  • Another great week for Cooper and Gaga this time in Toronto with multiple instances of standing ovation during the screening and of course the dramatic unveiling
  • It was amazing how not only did the movie got standing ovation but Gaga got her own, separate standing ovation during Q&A.  I just adore how all the guys on stage stood up and applauded her. Those are wonderful co-stars. Not scum of the Earth from The Predator (I'll get to that in a bit).
  • I also loved Gagafangirling over Sam Elliott on the red carpet.
  • People talk abut Glenn Close winning Oscar this year. I have barely even heard of her movie. You've gotta be kidding me. If Cooper is gonna sweep, so is Gaga.
  • I am legitimately rooting for her. She has so many weird haters which is so sad because she seems like a very lovely person. Also she really looks fantastic in the role and her voice is incredible. And she has a lot of great things to say. And she stopped to talk to the fans which is so nice.
  • Hugh's a fan too.
  • And so isViggo
  • Here's new poster for the movie.
  • This is all so EMOTIONAL I cannot believe Cooper managed to sit there with straight face
  • This is the dude that cried so hard that security guys offered him napkins after the premiere. I'm surprised he didn't burst into tears in front of them.
  • Gaga and Cooper are going to be on Graham Norton's show on September 28th. And who is also going to be there? Ryan Gosling. I cannot wait for Cooper to talk about his singing and Gosling and myself having violent flashbacks to that ridiculous whistling on the boardwalk.
  • This Predator thing from last week got so much worseThank God for little Jacob.
  • I am no longer Holbrook's fan. These guys are absolutely terrible and I hope their careers go nowhere.
  • You are probably thinking them leaving her during interviews is bad and that this whole situation couldn't possibly get any worse.
  • But in a shocking turn of events they made it worse.
  • At least Sterling had the excuse of not being there and wrote this. Still, he just had to throw in the condescending 'dear'.
  • Holbrook's statement is infuriating - he is lying about Fox taking 'swift' action, he tries to use the victim's feelings as an excuse and he states this is 'new' to him.
  • And then there is this bitch using his wife and a holiday as a shield.
  • This girl has more courage than all of these dudes combined.
  • I am so angry I will go off for few bullet points now.
  • Alfie! Thrones is ending and with it your career.
  • Boyd! How does it feel that you are the lead in this movie yet no one cared about you enough to force you to promote this on Comic Con? Oh and how does it feel that Narcos dropped you but the writers bend over backwards to keep Pedro around?
  • Trevante, you are a disgrace.
  • Tom, you prostituted yourself, so no one expects you to have any shame.
  • And the rest of these 'actors" in the cast -  who even are you?!
  • But amazingly they are not the ones with the worst behavior this week.
  • Norm Macdonald is
  • And then he made it worse.
  • And then HE MADE IT EVEN WORSE.
  • He almost said 'retarded' on live television. What is wrong with this guy?
  • I am so tired of these degenerates offering their disgusting hot takes and then following it with insincere apologies. Take their platform away, cancel their shows. Oh and to the people who worry about them not having jobs? We need people to clean public toilers and pick up garbage off the side of the road and I think Norm, Roseanne and Louis would be fantastic choices for that. I think cleaning feces and picking up used condoms is what they were destined for.
  • Moving on....
  • That new Sabrina show looks really good!
  • Yeah, bitch! Aaron PauljoinedWestworld season 3.
  • The reviews for Life Itself are absolutely hysterical. Look at that tweet.
  • Poor Isaac. He keeps starring in terrible movies and even if he manages to be in one that isn't bad few people actually go and see it.
  • Also during TIFF we got this gem of a quote from Steve McQueen. My favorite was someone on reddit asking "who the fuck is Steve McQueen and when is he buying me home cinema?"
  • It's like every week Paul Feig has bad news for us.
  • I cannot wait for Dark Phoenix, it's gonna be such a disaster
  • Hey, speaking of disasters, there's a rumor that WB is considering Kit Harington for Batman. At least that one doesn't grope women so I suppose it's an improvement.
  • Cavill is out as Superman as announced by THR. There's mass hysteria among delusional fans. Please, this was obvious the second he made ludicrous demands for A list kind of salary.
  • Well, he is most likely out as Superman. His annoying agent started posting cryptic tweets and then he posted this. This is utterly pathetic. Trolling his own fans. Using this stuff for publicity like that. His agent is so unprofessional and he is so stupid. Now it looks like they are the ones who leaked the story to THR to get the reaction and use it in negotiations. And it's hilarious how that video shows what a wooden actor he is. If this is some bizarre strategy in negotiations WB should kick him out and Netflix should re-think if they want to deal with this child. Not too late to recast.
  • Also if his side is leaking things maybe WB should play this game too and make sure gossip websites pick up certain disgusting blind items about this guy.
  • Apostle trailer is dropping next week!
  • On Monday we are also getting new trailer for the nanny that better not win with my boo in the box office fight.
  • And on Tuesday Captain Marvel trailer is finally getting released.
  • Picture from Ad Astra starring Brad Pitt. Trailer for that is dropping soon too.
  • Extremely worrisome news about The Conjuring 3 - it's not known at the time if Wan will direct it. James needs to direct it. He needs to stop leaving his franchises to die in the gutter of shit.
  • Tom Hardyis recording a rap album. Also there's a plot leak about Venom and apparently the creature forces him to dance in public at one point. Tom, what the hell are you doing? Get a grip, gurl.
  • This week I continued my adventures of watching dumb stuff on Netflix and saw the entire Hangover trilogy.
  • The third one was just straight up bizarre. For starters no one had a hangover other than in truly embarrassing mid credits scene. It was more a drama than a comedy but I don't know what I expected given it began with the giraffe getting beheaded and then a funeral scene (mind you, not for giraffe but for Jeffrey Tambor, so no tears were shed). I laughed twice - when Chow was butchering "Hurt" during karaoke and Cooper went "what the fuck am I watching?!" and during robbery scene when Chow was supposed to cut wires and said he was colorblind, then adding he is also dyslexic.
  • Phillips is like Apatow, he should stick to the laughs because when he tries to move the audience it's both lame and boring as hell. Bonus points for my girl Melissa, since I'm pretty sure this movie was still better than that ejaculating Muppet abomination.
  • The second one has gotta be one of the laziest sequels ever. It's literally the same movie as the first one, just much less funny and in a different setting. The monkey was amazing, though.
  • The first one is hilarious, though. It still made me laugh so hard and it's such a fun film.
  • I also watched Case 39 (it's so bad) and Limitless (it's so stupid) so in addition to seeing Cooper get tasered in the dick and have a used condom thrown at him I also watched him fight with hornets for 5 minutes, dying anyways and falling on a toilet and witnessed him licking the blood of a dead criminal off the floor.
  • In 5 months this guy is gonna be Academy Award winner y'all.
  • Now to the best part of RF...
  • We are 1 month away from Hammer boo in the rain and a bit over 3 months away from submerged Feral boo.
  • Oh, God bless water.
  • Jason had another amazing con experience
  • I made a mistake of watching both episodes of SNL with Hemsworth hosting.
  • After he said that his penis is too large to have sex with a woman in one of the sketches I had to pause it and I rock back and forth for like 5 minutes.
  • Good God almighty.
  • I love you, Australia. All the most wonderful things are from there.
  • I really don't know when I see that soldier movie. I legitimately fear for my health.
  • And finally we have some new footage from Bad Times at the El Royale:
  • OH MY GOD.
  • Does anyone else just wanna run in that rain and jump up and just land right on....

    Screaming Sunday - Mandy

    $

    Movie rating - 84/100
Plot: A psychodelic tale of a quiet logger named Red (Nicolas Cage) who lives a life of serenity with his wife Mandy (Andrea Riseborough), in their dream cabin in the woods. But when the leader of a deranged cult (Linus Roache, who played Batman's dad in Batman Begins and I cannot stop being shocked by it after seeing Mandy) becomes enamored with Red's wife, he and his people terrorize the couple, leaving Red spiraling into madness. The psychodelic goes full grindhouse as Red, armed with a battle axe and any drugs he can find, goes on a violent rampage, enacting his revenge on the cult in the most gruesome ways.
The heroes: Nicolas Cage forging a battle axe as he is wearing sunglasses and a T-shirt.
The antagonists: Weird demonic things with blade penises + really high cultists.
Best scene: It involves a porno video, lots of blood and maniacal laughing.
Oh-oh something's not right line: Bring me that girl.
What makes it so great? There is really no way to accurately describe or prepare you for that movie. The closest I can come to accomplish this is saying that you will feel high even if you are watching it completely sober. The film is utterly insane - at one point of it Nicolas Cage lights a cigarette on a head of a demon he just killed. It's about 10x more crazy than Drive Angry but it's also incredibly stylish - I don't expect to see a better looking movie this year - and it has wonderfully atmospheric score by late Johann Johannsson. Don't read anything more about that film, just go ahead and watch it. I promise you that you won't see anything like it this year. That said, I wish we saw more of Cheddar Goblin.
Scare factor:- 2/5 evil pumpkins - There are some very scary ideas thrown in there and the sheer viciousness and madness of cultists is very unsettling.
Gore factor:- 4/5 bloody Leatherfaces - Lots of gore, including amazing chainsaw battle.
Is there a twist? No. There's short post credits scene, though.
Life lessons from the movie: 1. Never laugh at a man who is jerking off. 2. Never tell Nic Cage you will suck his dick.
Unsuitable for: People who live in the woods.
Repercussions: Fear of mac and cheese.

  • First trailer for Captain Marvel is here, along with the poster. It's really good but they are gonna need to really knock this out of the park. After all, she is gonna appear out of nowhere in this franchise.
  • I do love that moment where "HER" turns into "HERO". My God, I hope this literally killed some incels when they were watching this.
  • There's a cat on the poster and I need that cat to be in next Avengers and interact with Thor.
  • We are getting new Marvel shows focusing on the supporting characters in the franchise. You can just sense how happy Hiddles must be. He has nothing other than this.
  • Trailer for Daredevil 3. Eh. Let me know if Bernthal shows up, then I'll see it.
  • Here's Gaga and Cooper on the cover of the Italian Vanity Fair.
  • Neko Case (I'm not even entirely sure who that is) tweeted this about Bradley Cooper. It's completely ridiculous and who knows what that batshit woman even meant by that but it's so freaking funny I kinda call Cooper'beige demon' now.
  • Muppet parody of the A Star is Born trailer which you simply have to see.
  • Green Book won audience award at TIFF.
  • I saw the trailer for this for the first time this week and it is really awesome. Great song, great editing and Viggo (holy shit, he plays an Italian) and Ali look like they are definitely getting at the very least nominated. Beige Demon better watch his back.
  • The circumstances around the movie are so interesting - the guy Viggo is playing was actually in The Sopranos and this is Peter Farrelly's movie. As in the dude who made Dumb and Dumber.
  • Also:
  • Sweet Gawd Viggo still got it.
  • Oh good. Because what we were missing is Sean Penn's "thoughts" on #MeToo.
  • And in even worse news....
  • Trailer for Apostle. This looks really violent and gritty. Oh yeah.
  • Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter on the set of The Crown.
  • Jesus Christ, Man. Jason is gonna have to go on SNL and hang dong now to win that box office battle.
  • They have Streep in there so you know she is probably getting nominated just for showing up.
  • *disgusted noises*
  • God, they even have Angela Lansbury. Mario thought she was dead so they are practically bringing people from the beyond here.
  • I mean obviously families will go see this instead of Aquaman. If men of the family are buying the tickets there is no way they will bring their wives to see something starring Momoa so that they feel like inferior species, you know, just in time for Christmas, while their ladies lust after this guy.
  • No, you guys seriously. This is not just about me. This is about the....greater good. I think Jason absolutely needs to striptease his way through talk shows now.
  • Nicolas Cagethe hero of the people.
  • Also look at that picture. I cannot even imagine being on this level.
  • Seriously though, Nolan sounds like he is from different planet with his anti-Netflix bias and see everything in IMAX motto. I'm glad Nolan has such strong stance - in his chateau or villa where he is walking around in mink thong and drinking swan's blood or whatever he is doing in his spare time when he is not putting masks on Tom Hardy or writing about characters with dead wives - but most of us don't have the luxury of seeing everything in cinemas. Or like me even if they could afford it, they just don't have the energy. There is a reason why instead of going to cinema few times a week I come home, lie down on my bed and watch absolute trashfire on Netflix.
  • That reason is I am tired. Maybe Nolan shoots heroin in his eyeballs and isn't, but hey, I can't do that. I need to stay alive till December 21st.
  • Two new Venom posters. One of them is really great, another....
  • Let's just share this priceless comment from reddit thread about it - Welcome to Sony, please watch our movies so we can get more cocaine.
  • Seriously, the quality of these two posters is so drastically different it's as if Eddie Redmayne stood next to Jason Momoa.
  • Though I will say this much - the horrid one takes me back to early 00s. To the times before reign of MCU, when we had embarrassingly shitty but so bad it's funny CBMs and tons of equally bad but entertaining 'rock' music like Bring Me to Life.
  • (is that a fucking space ship on the left?)
  • Clip from the movie. And TV spot. This is gonna be so entertaining
  • First picture from that Joker movie, of Joaquin Pheonix as titular character, and here are the pictures from the set
  • And here's screen test with first glimpse of his make up.
  • The most horrific thing here is that I have the same haircut.
  • This was terrifying so here is Alexander Skarsgard with a puppy.
  • Funny pictures from the set of IT part 2:
  • New trailer for Girl in Spider's Web which is marginally less terrible than the previous ones but it's cocaine studio so it's not gonna be good.
  • So on Friday I watched Rush for obvious reasons. Really, though, how deaf do these geriatric fucks in the Academy have to be not to nominate Zimmer's score? Did they have a stroke at the sight of Hemsworth's bare ass and the blood flooded their eardrums and they couldn't hear?
  • Actually...that sounds like something that could have happened.
  • On Saturday I watched Mandy which I already talked about (it was amazing).
  • I also decided to see The Mummy because Netflix has it and I have never seen it before. It was fun, and it's certainly better than the quality of stuff I usually watch on Netflix.
  • I rewatched The Handmaiden which was so good instead of watching just a bit and going to sleep I saw the whole thing (was super tired the next day), also it turns out I have an extended version of that movie which I never realized before.
  • I finally saw Solo and that was a perfectly fine adventure film. I feel really bad that it flopped because Howard delivered a well made movie, the cast was great and Alden really managed to do a good job. Rian Johnson tarnished the brand so bad we now live in the world where Star Wars movies flop. Solo was so much better than The Last Jedi. It was entertaining, I cared about the characters and there was no weird stuff like Skype Kylo and that Jesusing back to the ship moment. Honestly, this franchise has Isaac but I doubt I'll see the next episode in cinemas.
  • So my new thing is studying to take the bar. AGAIN.
  • I failed three times already (this is embarrassing), over the years. I'm basically Patrick Wilson in Little Children only my ass isn't that nice.
  • And the exams I failed were not even the bar exam, just the initial tests that gets you pre-approved for official lawyering so naturally now I am gonna try to skip all of that and even though I failed easy level I'm gonna go and try to win on master level.
  • What can go wrong, right?
  • Technically I do practice law and my job is not bad but the pay is ridiculous. And given situations like this and the fact I most certainly won't marry rich (fuck, it's looking like I won't even marry poor) I really deserve/have to be at least paid well. So you may see much less of me these days.
  • Good news for you guys and your enjoyment is that now that I'm assaulting my brain with even more legal stuff I'm going progressively more insane:
  • This is Friday.
  • This is Monday.
  • This is Monday when I came back from work.
  • And this is Wednesday.
  • And that's later that day.
  • And even later that day.
  • Oh....my....God.
  • oh what an amazing dad he is!
  • Chris shared new photo from the set of Men in Black and adorable video.
  • Whatever he is doing with his hands here I want him to do to me.
  • Dakota gets it.
  • Look, here's the thing. If there was really a cult led by Chris Hemsworth I'd run to join that cult so fast my underwear would literally fly off so swiftly it would kill whoever was behind me.
  • I feel this is the good place to end. So - happy weekend!

  • These two just keep on winning.
  • Gagashone during yet another A Star is Born premiere. Amazing
  • And here's premiere in London:
  • Today her and Bradley are going to be on Graham Norton show (a little taste). Bradley was on Conan on Monday and it was easily the longest interview I ever saw Conan do. Bradley was there for about 20 minutes and he was really great. He had so many fun anecdotes and seemed super laid back and friendly.
  • Here she is on Ellen's show. He dog's name....I like her even more now. While I'm also very sad right now.
  • Here's new TV spot of Cooper's solo song. Whewwwww. My God.
  • And here, finally, the music video for Shallow:
  • There's a new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Johnny Nine Digits and there's a lot to unpack here.
  • I'm not even surprised that J.K. Rowling - the same woman who just randomly said a male character is gay to score points with LGBTQ crowd - did the link to Harry Potter series by having Nagini, Voldemort's snake in there.
  • And I'm not even surprised that she doesn't see how many problems there is with making Nagini a woman who is cursed and eventually turns into a snake. We all remember her being like what's the big deal with hiring Depp so reprehensible person acting reprehensible again is no shock.
  • Her incredible audacity is really surprising though. Bitch sits there saying she knew this for years. Yep. I too when I write a book don't use hints or foreshadow stuff, but I sit on a twist for 20 years and drop it only when we are doing a prequel story.
  • Sounds legit.
  • That's totally what happened there.
  • Leaving aside this shit, the fact that they are gonna be cowards about Dumbledore being gay and the fact they are making sure a violent drunk gets the money and keeps his A lister status....that is a great trailer. You know, if you lobotomize yourself and forget all the stuff I've just mentioned.
  • Like Judi Denchdid, apparently. These old timers don't get the pass for being old. Old doesn't mean you can contribute to the horrible state of the world with your garbage takes.
  • Tom Hardyis hot again so let's rejoice!
  • He seems to be having so much fun promoting Venom:
  • First the nanny and now this goddamn robot.
  • Also now it turns out that Cheney movie, Vice is also premiering on Christmas.
  • Trailer for Creed 2 which I'm sure will make so much money.
  • The trailer for Dark Phoenix is here. The trailer is actually not bad and will probably turn out to be much better than the actual movie. But Good God, isn't Sophie Turner in her 20s? This is horrific booze bloat. She looks like female Ben Affleck. Raggedy Miguel aged like milk as expected yet at least he is delivering some real acting in there and he is easily the best part of the trailer. Also yey JLaw is finally dying!
  • I swear to God it's like there is a race between Sony and Fox over who does the dumbest possible thing.
  • Tom Hanks snapped after they were snubbing him out of Oscar nominations for years. He will not be ignored now.
  • Ethan Hawke, who still didn't issue an apology for his demented claims about Loganis still talking. Is he gonna be out there in the news, talking about random shit until the Oscar nominations are announced and he gets absolutely nothing? He is isn't he?
  • Look, I think he is amazing in First Reformed but his hot takes are gonna make me laugh when he is snubbed even though he is currently my win.
  • The man dissed Logan. Again I will repeat - if he shat on my carpet I'd be less offended than I am now.
  • I saw A Simple Favor which was so much fun. It's a bizarre movie, a real mix of genres and tonal shifts are jarring but it's so entertaining. It could have easily been better and my God is Anna Kendrick just too much - she is never believable as a human being with all that quirk and energy - but Blake Lively was an absolute revelation and the film was tons of fun.
  • I saw both Con Air and Face/Off on Saturday and they are both so much fun with the latter being genuinely one of the craziest and most unique movies ever made.
  • I rewatched Silver Linings Playbook. Damn, that was a weak year for Best Actress. Cooper carries this movie, same way he carried American Hustle. This whole sports angle is unbearable and way too much but overall it's a very charming and touching movie. And Cooper is freaking hilarious here.
  • I started Maniac and only saw two episodes so far. The show started terribly with a really boring episode. Frankly, this makes me not want to continue because this is the dumbest thing to do. Episode 2 was much stronger, why not just start with that? And I hate those opinions 'ooh give it 3 or 4 episodes'. Yes, because I have so much free time, nothing better for me to do then give something 2h to see if it's not a complete waste of my time.
  • Granted, I did use the time I could have used on watching more Maniac on watching 8mm where Cage and Phoenix pointlessly wander around shady basements for two hours but my point still stands.
  • Netflix used to at least knock it out of the park with the original series. What the fuck? This is going downhill now too?
  • Also they just removed Avengers - so the only Hemsy movie is Ghosbusters - and added Ted.
  • Bitch, I pay you money.
  • Earn it.
  • What the hell is happening with Oscar Isaac's career?! Life Itself - a trainwreck where his dog's name is "fuckface", I am not kidding this is actually this beautiful little dog's name - and Operation Finale - apparently such flop that it is landing on Netflix next week.
  • New information about Aquaman scenes. And here's my baby in his iconic costume.
  • For the love of God, WHY?!
  • Someone remembered12 Strong exists.
  • We have first reviews for Bad Times at The El Royale and they are quite good but this is what really matters:
  • How is "dangerously sexy" any different than what this merciless bastard has been doing for years?!
  • This is Chris' new house. Boo, what the fuck are you building?!
  • There was no Dark World livetwet from me but there was this.
  • And finally to celebrate the weekend and the fact Hardyboo is hot again, watch this:

    (spoilers!)

When I sat down to watch Paul Schrader's First Reformed I knew absolutely nothing about the plot of this film. I kept guessing what will happen. I thought maybe Mary is going to be attacked by her husband so that she would have a miscarriage and then the priest will avenge her. Then, as Michael kept talking about them having a girl and Mary said she is expecting a boy I thought maybe she is a liar and the vest was actually hers. Then I thought maybe she is manipulating the priest into killing himself. None of those things happened.

The film is remarkable because it pulls off an incredibly difficult thing - showing how a seemingly rational person can - almost - do a completely irrational thing - and then, even more impressively the film doesn't even reap the rewards of that and doesn't go for that ending. The entire film we see Toller live his quiet, small life and we get to know him better with each second we spend with him. We see him as a good, calm man, keeping a diary, collecting his thoughts. A man who has had a tragedy in his life. A man who feels responsible for the death of his son. Someone sad, lonely, who just goes through the motions, doing his job and not expecting anything good or happy from his life.

Then as he meets Michael, he is starting to have trouble helping him and helping himself, because while Toller seems very sure of his faith (a rare thing, whenever we see a priest as a protagonist there's usually a crisis of faith) but he doesn't really know what his faith means in ever changing and progressively more destroyed world. Toller shares Michael's and Mary's concerns about the state of environment and cannot figure out what God's plan is. Will God forgive people for destroying his creation? Or will there be nothing to forgive because the Earth was supposed to be destroyed?
So we spend every moment of the film with Toller and we see him changing from a kind man, eager to help the others to someone who is ready to blow himself up in front of people (the vest was a suicide vest so it seems that the explosion wouldn't really hurt other people, physically). As the events escalate - as Michael takes his own life, as Toller's body starts failing even more so than before and as he starts seeing how serious the climate change really is - he decides to actually go ahead with it.

Then there's Ethan Hawke's work which only elevates the writing - there's one scene in which Toller furiously lashes out at Esther, his friend and a woman he slept with once, who was just trying to be kind to him. His anger is completely disproportional to her prying and he seems to be practically disgusted with her, finding her and her concerns pathetic. This is such an explosion of his own self loathing - he finds himself practically worthless so Esther's concerns about him are worthless too, as opposed to the concerns of Mary and Micheal - the people who saw the bigger picture, saw beyond the individuals.

Then there was a scene with him eating sushi in restaurant and commenting on "life's simple pleasures" where I became convinced he was going to blow himself up. If there is one thing the film was not subtle about, at all, it was what an asshole the main guy in the corporation was. That sushi scene was directed in such a manner I thought Hawke was gonna pull a machine gun from under his habit and just end them there. But none of this was as distracting as Amanda Seyfriend's work. It's not really that she is bad, it's just that her acting suggested that there is more to her character, something truly sinister she is hiding.
But even with all of that, you just cannot see the ending coming. Schrader's goal was to make the end ambiguous. I don't like ambiguous, so here we are with me trying to work out what exactly happened. Apparently Schrader kept changing things around until he got pretty much 50/50 split among test screening audiences on whether or not what they saw in the ending was real. I'm surprised because for me the ending clearly leans towards one answer more than the other.

I think the key to understanding it is the relationship between Toller and Mary.

There's never anything sexual about them. It's just Toller trying to help her in any way he can. There's the most controversial scene of the movie between them, with Mary being distraught and worried and Toller calming her down - per her request, like her husband did, with her laying on top of him and the two listening to each other breathe. During the scene we suddenly break from very realistic approach the film was taking so far as we see Toller and Mary beginning to float above the floor.
First Toller and Mary float over the beautiful sights of nature and then we see the destruction, the trash and the taint. I found the scene to be symbolic of Toller slowly detaching himself from being someone who wants to function in the world and opening himself to the idea of sacrificing himself for an idea and for the greater good. And what amplified it was that he was sharing that moment with Mary, someone he was helping, someone who wanted nothing from him and someone who was making him happy. And I think this scene was necessary - we needed two breaks from reality. Just one in the ending would make it even more bizarre for the audience.

I don't believe what we are seeing is 'traditional' happy ending in Hollywood meaning of the word. I don't think they really kissed and lived happily ever after. Toller sees Mary and decides not to go through with his plan not to give her a shock of seeing this and probably feel somewhat responsible considering she is the reason he had the vest. And most importantly he sees that even though he asked her not to come she came anyways, because she cares about him this much. Toller kept rejecting love - the concept that God can forgive people even though they keep destroying what was given to them, the concern from others - and he was about to hurt Mary. Ashamed, all that was left was his hurt and he punished himself for what he considered doing, hence the barb wire.

We saw Jeffers trying to get into the room Toller is in and fail. Why have a moment like that if not to suggest there was no way to enter the room? And why the abrupt cut to black in the end? I think in the end, as he drinks the poison and he is in pain, Toller is going insane form it and he desperately needs to feel some happiness. I imagine when you know that this is it you feel fear and you feel desperate. Desperate to not be afraid. So his mind immediately goes to the one person who he let in his heart recently - Mary, who appears in the doorway and uncharacteristically calls him by his name. And they kiss - even though there was no sexual feelings between them prior to this moment - they kiss because he has seconds to live and how else can you feel intense closeness and connection to another human being in such a short time.
First Reformed is not an easy film. It's sad and it's heartbreaking but it's also riveting from start to finish. It's the only movie I saw this year that I thought of for weeks after watching it. It's also really unique - the way it is shot and the way the story progresses is so refreshing and surprising but also feels very old school, like it was a movie that was made years ago. The film puts its flawed protagonist at the center and it makes us observe his choices. It never judges him and it leaves the judgement to the audience.

  • It's gonna be another fun weekend of me sighing at the screen while watching Aquaman footage repeatedly, but more on that at the end of the post.
  • Gaga and Cooper being adorable again.
  • Their Graham Nortonepisode was amazing. Gaga came in in that amazing red dress. I love how her style is so extra. She always looks like she is attending some big ceremony.
  • This is fucking hilarious. I really can't stop laughing, he is so damn uncomfortable.
  • Gaga was on Colbert's show last night, I have yet to watch it but it looks like she was great.
  • Cooper was on Fallon and he was really funny and they referenced the time he was there and they couldn't stop laughing. You need to see it.
  • Really cool article looking back at Bradley's roles. I am shocked they didn't mention him fighting hornets in the masterpiece that is Case 39
  • Even freaking PETA is honoring Coop.
  • Meanwhile, you can stream the soundtrack on spotify and it is absolutely GORGEOUS.
  • And I get to see it on November 30th because apparently I live in a cardboard box in Africa.
  • Trailer for The Mule which also features Golden Rocket albeit in a small role, allegedly. My God, Clint is like a thousand years old and he is still directing and acting in movies. I can barely get out of bed in the mornings.
  • We finally have the first trailer for Vice. I really love it. The music - "The Man" by The Killers is a great choice and the whole thing really looks like it's gonna be a lot like The Big Short - serious subject but a very funny movie. The performances look fantastic other than Adams who looks so stiff. The dudes are having fun and she is there with her wig and a serious line. Also lol at Carell looking like his character in Anchorman.
  • Here's the first poster for new Hellboy, the trailer may drop this weekend during NYCC.
  • The film was recently moved from January to April but I did read a script for it a while back and it was really fun to read. This has potential for some incredible visuals. Also I'm looking forward to Milla Jovovich bringing in so much camp.
  • So Tom Hardy is out there saying his favorite scenes in Venom, 40 minutes of them, were cut. And Internet truly is amazing:
  • But then at the premiere Hardysaid this. The comments under this tweet are absolutely hilarious.
  • The film''s reviews are truly a sight to behold. We all knew it will be bad but thankfully it's not "mediocre bad" it's "disaster bad" which means the film is very entertaining. I am seeing this on Monday and I legitimately cannot wait.
  • This should really make you rock back and forth in terror.
  • But never fear, because Sony is not the only dumb studio out there. Fox just moved releases around and now we have Deadpoolmovie coming this Christmas which is rumored to be PG-13 version of Deadpool. And days after getting its first trailer Dark Phoenix was moved to June. I think they may be sabotaging this thing harder than Warner Bros. sabotaged Justice League (with barely any marketing and those ridiculous reshoots), so that's quite an accomplishment.
  • This weekend is a showdown between Venom and A Star is Born in US box office. First battle was already fought between disgruntled stans.
  • Badass photo from John Wick 3:
  • Look. Look what Spielberghas done. WHY.
  • James Wanis not going to the directThe Conjuring 3 after all. This is insane. Why does he treat his baby like that? It's like leaving it on the church's doorsteps.
  • Johnny 9 Digits gave another interview and it went pretty much as you expect it to go.
  • Meanwhile, Amber is amazing
  • They are making live action remake of Lilo & Stitch. Hawaii. You know who to cast there.
  • Another poor trailer for Mary Queen of Scots. This looks so basic, like Outlaw King but at least the latter has 1. Stephen Dillane 2. Kick Ass in ridiculous wig 3. Pine's tree.
  • Fun new trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Hopefully this is good because Netflix has been throwing so much crap at people lately.
  • The Last Jedi defense attempts are now truly pathetic. At this point it's like there are more "Russian bots" than there are people out there.
  • SNL premiere wasn't very good. Weekend Update was fun along with the cold open - yes, Damon was funny. Cute that his buddies on TV always have a job for him, isn't it? Anyways the rest of the episode was kinda bad.
  • All those references to Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande were annoying and him talking about being engaged to her and switching her birth control to sugar pills was disgusting and creepy.
  • I saw Hold the Dark and as I predicted from reading the script weeks ago it was really not good. It's just such a bad choice for a book to adapt - there are no answers, there is barely any story and the characters' actions make very little sense. Skarsgard was very well cast and the music was good but the film is really not worth your time.
  • I also did a triple feature of Bradley Cooper on Saturday. I rewatched the mop movie and as good as Lawrence is in that, the film really becomes alive when he shows up. Still, what an odd movie this is. What the hell was up with all those telenovela bits? This whole film was all over the place.
  • I also saw War Dogs and he is not in it a lot but he is very good. Jonah Hill was fantastic there, but seriously the whole gaining weight, losing weight thing he does is just petrifying.
  • And then I finally saw American Sniper. I remember watching it years ago when it was released but I didn't finish it, but this time I really liked it. It was probably Eastwood's best movie since Changeling
  • I watched Men in Black 3 because yeah, Netflix. It was quite fun. Josh Brolin as Tommy Lee Jones's younger version was great. And there's an awesome performance by Bill Hader who shows up in one scene as Andy Warhol.
  • I also rewatched Ant-Man and the Wasp and that is such a cute film. But good lord that mid-credits scene doesn't fit the tone of the movie at all.
  • Here's Chris and his parents on the premiere of Bad Times at the El Royale in Spain. Jesus, look at his mother! She is probably twice my age and she looks younger than me.
  • Look at that bastard just shamelessly uploading porn like that.
  • We've just got the new extended trailer for Aquaman today so write up on that will come this weekend if I actually stop rewatching it and there is a small chance of that happening. We also got a new poster which frankly should have been the first poster even though I hate the colors here - it just looks so muted. Thankfully that new trailer is pure FIRE...

    Aquaman - extended trailer breakdown

This week WB marketing department has blessed us with the 5-minute long sneak peek/trailer for Aquaman. This footage was shown exclusively to the audience at Comic Con this year. I guess WB is really trying everything to win the war that is gonna break in the box office - Aquaman premiers the same week as Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns. Also it's curious that lately, other than Fantastic Beasts, WB's releases were only getting one main trailer and few short ones, which were all stuffed in front of other films - A Star is Born's 4 short trailers were all put in front of The Nun. If this is the technique designed not to spoil much than it certainly doesn't apply to this extended video as after months of pointlessly refusing to confirm if Arthur's classic outfit will show up, we now actually got to see it at the end of this video. My bet is that we are getting one more trailer that will be attached to Fantastic Beasts and WB will send absolutely everyone to promote the film. So here we go, let's take a look at the new footage we get to see:

(click the images for high res versions)

New shot of pregnant Atlanna and Thomas. Look, there's a dog there!

Atlanna saying goodbye to Arthur and leaving to protect him and his father.

Thomas telling Arthur his mother always knew he was special.

New images of Arthur lifting the submarine. Mera telling Arthur he is the bridge between the land and the sea.

Arthur and Mera travelling through Sahara.

Arthur and Mera arriving into the temple.

Mera trying to start the device to no success. Arthur remarks how this place was collecting dust since before Sahara was a desert which makes Mera realize they need water to start it.

Mera using her powers, I love how her eyes are glowing when she does this!

    Arthur had another idea.

Hologram of king Atlan talking about the powerful trident that gives the power to control the sees. If one wants to find it, one must travel to the hidden sea.

Images from the past featuring king Atlan. The second one is really reminding me of the scene on Aragorn's court in Return of the King.

Arthur amidst the attack on his home land.

Mera promptly destroying the device and Arthur saying that they should have written down what was said. Mera asking him if he memorized it.

Orm talking to Nerus (Mera's father) about his plan to attack. Nerus looks like a goddamn Carrot Top.

    Black Manta meeting his goons.

Manta attacking Mera and Arthur in Italy.

Impressive tracking shot of Mera escaping Manta's goons.

Mera crashing into the vineyard where she will once again show off her powers.

    Another lovely shot of Mera.

Mera, Arthur and Thomas watching the destruction.

Billions will die, unless you help us! - Mera begs Arthur for help.

Arthur kicking some fool through the shipwreck's wall.

Queen Atlanna defending Arthur and Thomas in their home. This is the single most impressive moment of the trailer. The camera work here is so awesome!

    Stunning shot of Atlanna.

New shot of Trench and Arthur and Mera trying to escape them.

New shot of Orm fighting Arthur.

The main hall of Atlantis - Arthur being brought before Vulko, Orm and Mera. He appears to be shirtless so YEY.

This is a giant crab and this is the extent of my knowledge about it.

    - What could be greater than a King?
    - A hero.

This trailer was met with a really good reaction out there so I'm very happy. I think they should have just given us a shorter trailer which didn't show so damn much but the good news is that every single sequence they highlighted has so much more to it. You think Arthur just shows up with the Trident and his new outfit that highlights his abs in the end? Oh, he has more with him. So much more.
