  • Tom had some lovely things to say on The Revenant red carpet.
  • Also in the moment he found out his pants were around his ankles. Whatever scene they were shooting there, I want to see it.
  • He even waved! I have never before seen Tom freaking 'gonna stand outside in the rain to chat with fans and not go inside to speak to press' Hardy wave to the press. He must have been ecstatic about that nomination! I'm so happy he is having a blast with this!
  • Anderson looks like one of the nihilists from The Big Lebowski in that pic, btw.
  • Tom also thanked Jane Fonda. I do hope Leo told him to move his ass to the ceremony. Tom you already missed out on hugging Harrison Ford on Globes. See, you have to attend. You miss on hugging Harrison Ford when you don't.
  • Suicide Squad! We got the amazing new posters and that badass new trailer with so much Harley in it. Leto looks terrific too.
  • We also got new footage of Jaime Lannister in s6.
  • Scream Queens got renewed for second season! I'm thrilled. I'm not sure what dirt Ryan Murphy has on people in FOX that it happened, because the ratings for the first season were horrible, but whatever! Chanels are set to come back and the setting is going to be hospital. Odd that Ryan is taking a route so similar to AHS, which second season was Asylum, but I'm sure it's gonna be awesome anyways.
  • This whole OscarsSoWhite thing is blowing up. The Academy announced some changes, which seem reasonable which is odd for them as they usually overreact.
  •  Even Idris Elba is pissed off, clearly, as he has spoke about this for 32 minutes.  Elba had some good points and as he was an actual contender he has the right to be annoyed, But other than him, this is turning pathetic fast.
  • The 'boycott' calls or that Jada video makes it look like they think they are ENTITLED to be nominated. There shouldn't be an obligation for the Academy to nominate based on skin color, they should just consider performances. And the way it will end is that soon the members will be fed up with hysterics and nominate people because they will feel they 'have to'. How is it just?
  • Elba and Smith weren't nominated but it had nothing to do with their skin color, Their movies weren't as well marketed as others and the categories are always very competitive. How is it the Academy's fault?
  • Here is an example of why I hate SJW fighting this sort of thing. I sincerely doubt Sam Smith thought racism didn't exist before this happened. Yet this kind of a hateful post is trending on tumblr. People just jumped on him, demanding his blood. He wasn't an entitled brat of an actress being rude to a journalist for 'laughs', he shared a personal story in good faith. He wasn't rude. He was trying to do something right. And people attacked him. Or how about that awful tweet that says that Best Actress nominees all look like the same woman in different stages of her life - that offensive, pathetic attempt at a joke is trending too. These people show zero respect to actors who gave performances that in most cases really deserved to be nominated. They act like rabid dogs and I'm supposed to nod and say you are right when you are basically blaming the entire world and can't even assign the blame properly? Should the worthy performers miss out just because someone imagines the exclusion of people of color among the nominees is racist when it's not Academy's fault how the industry is? Ridiculous.
  • These days everyone has to be super tolerant, super compassionate and super offended whenever someone is "abused". And that's OK. But this became trendy to the point people just see racism or homophobia everywhere and overreact with such disproportion it's astonishing. These people are prepared to absolutely destroy someone because they think that person said something 'intolerant'. I mean I don't even know who Sam Smith is other than being familiar with his Bond song (which is btw awful) but those tweets he received disgusted me.
  • Accusing someone or entire organization of racism and this whole thing blowing up is not right. I'm sure the SJW don't think this far ahead, as they are almost too outraged to get out words, but what do you think will happen when in the future a person of color gets nominated just because the Academy is scared of the backlash if they don't nominate that person? And people - in all fairness since it will happen not because of the quality of performance but because of the skin color of the actor - go 'hey that person didn't deserve this'? And then you go again with the racism claims because got forbid anyone criticizes a person of color in this day and age. How can any of this result in something good? How much minority quota would satisfy your bleeding hearts? If there are 3 white actors and 2 black actors nominated will you still scream racism because white people received more nominations? Of course you will.
  • Another thing they seem not to notice - how come you only see racism in acting categories? Gee, is it because if you looked further you would see there is no racism there?
  • Also when is the last time Spike Lee made a relevant or halfway decent film? Why would people give a crap what he thinks? And why is David Oyelowo a member of the Academy? And why does he think he was a contender? What, did Oprah and his mother convinced him he was?
  • But The Smiths win. First Jada puts up this video which obviously she wouldn't make if her husband was nominated. Then Smith realizes she is the one who wears the pants in the family and says he is not gonna attend either. What the fuck are you crying about, Will? You were nominated twice and when you lost you lost to Whitaker and Washington! Oh, the racism! Oh, the humanity! Oh, the horror! How tragic to you and your millions of dollars! And your production company that basically makes vehicles for your own family! What have you ever done to make things better? Produced Annie? God my heart bleeds, you guys. How will the Smiths live when the Academy is after them with all that raging racism?
  • Someone like Smith is the problem. He has a production company. He could easily use his influence and money to produce films with black actors and give them meaty, Oscar-baity stuff to play. But he doesn't. Yet it is Academy that people are bitching about? Please tell me you see how stupid it is too.
  •  Instead of contemplating expending the acting nominees to ten slots (facepalming so hard right here) or introducing minority quota Academy should just send The Smiths a box of tissues and remind him he owns a production company. Because apparently, he has forgotten.
  • We have Mark Ruffalo doing something very disappointing too. First he says he is wondering about boycotting. Then he goes 'I'll go because we made a movie about something important". N|o shit, Mark. I'm soo glad that you actually had to wonder what matters more - being there supporting a movie that reminds people that children are getting molested OR a bunch of people not getting nominated for a golden statue. Well done, you're a star.
  • Charlotte Rampling horrified people with her comments. Then there is this ridiculously opinionated piece about it on Playlist which never disappoints when it comes to crap journalism. People are wishing death upon her on twitter. This is madness.
  • The only reasonable voice in this from celebrity so far is Viola Davis'statement that the problem is in the industry, not the Oscars which simply reflect that industry. Bravo, Viola!
  • Michael Caine told the absolute truth yet people call him racist as well. Jesus Christ. I'm gonna wake up tomorrow and I wonder how many actors will be branded racist during the time I was asleep.
  • Moving on...
  • Kate Winslet is lovely. She told the cutest and funniest anecdote while paying tribute to Alan Rickman.
  • Meanwhile, John Krasinski had the most hilarious Golden Globes tale to tell:
  • And here is Leo reacting to the news his reaction to Gaga was a huge Internet success
  • Bone Tomahawk's directoris butthurt over The Revenant success. Apparently talent and grace don't go together.
  • 1/2 of the most cringe worthy duo in Hollywood was offended this week when the junior critic made a joke. So let me get this straight - Schumer builds her entire comedy act on her sex life which she crudely, obnoxiously and pathetically talks about all the time but then she cannot take a joke about it?  It's really not slut shaming when someone is making themselves out to be a slut.  Frankly I cannot believe any man (or any person, really) would actually want to be around this chick, but it's so she claims. Not only is she unfunny 'comedian', she cannot even take a joke! I mean if you make yourself out to be something don't act surprised when people call you out. And Jesus Christ, that was such a harmless joke. And far more witty than whatever the fuck her and Lawrence were doing on that stage during Globes.
  • It's as if Harrison Fordcouldn't take a joke when someone mentions people think he is grouchy. I feel awful making comparison between ....that and this wonderful man here but I just really wanted to show how to take a joke with class
  • So I saw Burnt. How are all those crappy songs getting nominated and something like Fire, which as far as I can tell is an original song written for the movie isn't? It's a great song. Cooper was also pretty great in the role, I really buy this guy in his roles. The film was so-so and it was strange how many famous actors where in it playing only slightly more than cameos, but it was entertaining enough. It had good energy and Cooper was actually much better than some of the nominees this year (hey Eddie!).
  • Another film I saw was Truth which was watchable thanks to Cate Blanchett and her curls but it was such a ridiculous manipulative movie. I'm not familiar with the events depicted in the film but it was so obvious the writer wanted us to feel for Blanchett's character. She plays this seasoned producer and the film's most ridiculous and probably one of the dumbest moments in any movie in 2015 is when she googles herself and reads the horrible comments and she acts as if this was the first time not only she saw such comments about herself but as if she has never in her life even heard of the concept of people leaving filth online. I almost laughed my ass off  as Blanchett kept gasping, horrified.
  • Harrison Ford's films I saw this week - The Devil's Own which was so-so. He was great but Pitt was miscast. At least the music was pretty. Then I saw The Expendables 3 which apparently flopped because it didn't have R rating. I thought it was fun - I didn't mind the lack of gore, the action was good and Antonio Banderas was hysterical.
