Screaming Sunday - The Voices

Movie rating - 72/100
Plot:  Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) is that chipper guy clocking the nine-to-five at a bathtub factory, with the offbeat charm of anyone who could use a few friends. With the help of his court-appointed psychiatrist, he pursues his office crush (Gemma Arterton). However, the relationship takes a sudden, murderous turn after she stands him up for a date. Guided by his evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog, Jerry must decide whether to keep striving for normalcy, or indulge in a much more sinister path.
The heroes: Jerry, who is a really nice guy. He just happens to kill people sometimes. Accidentally, you know.
The antagonists: The cat? No, no. The antagonist here is as much the mental illness as it is the horrible solitude that Jerry faces on daily basis
Best scene: The chase and the first kill
Oh-oh something's not right line: Did you fuck the bitch?
What makes it so great? Who would have thought Ryan Reynolds can act? He is really great here as Jerry and the film is worth seeing for his performance alone. But there's more here - some of the films elements, especially the cat talking with Irish accent, are really clever and funny and some of it are so saddening and depressing. The fact that Jerry refuses to take his medication because when he does he cannot hear his animals talking to him and he feels utterly lonely was such a depressing thing to witness.

It's rare when we see someone who does horrible things who is actually really innocent and sweet. That is one ballsy movie because you actually sympathize with Jerry and you want him to be fine in the end. The supporting cast is also really good - Jackie Weaver actually has something to do, Gemma Arterton puts on a hilarious caricature of an haughty English gal and Anna Kendrick is as adorable as ever as the co-worker who may be Jerry's only shot at happiness.

The film is also wonderfully shot and the imagery is great - the real world that Jerry experiences when he is on medication and the flashbacks to his childhood are really disturbing and bleak while the world where he succumbs to his delusions is bursting out with colors and wit.
Scare factor: - 4/5 evil pumpkins - the film doesn't have jump scares or monsters but it's very disturbing because Jerry is really likable and yet everything is going so wrong for him. Then there is the whole 'accidental kill' angle which is very tragic. The whole film is very witty and done with a lot of imagination but if you think about it there are people out there struggling as much as Jerry is and that is very saddening. Also the contrast of Jerry's worlds changing whether he is on or off meds is shattering.
Gore factor:- 2/5 bloody Leatherfaces - there is quite a bit of gore here but i don't think it's anything too disturbing. Some of it is done in dark comedy mode so it's not frightening.
Is there a twist? Not really, but the twist may be how this movie tells a really sad story under the pretense of dark, gory comedy
Unsuitable for: People dating their co-workers, psychiatrists, people who have conversations with their pets. What? We exist.
Repercussions: The next time you get laid? The first thing you do is gonna be checking what the guy you banged keeps in his fridge.

The gods demand justice in the second, insanely epic trailer for Game of Thrones season 5

Why do I even bother making plans this time of year? HBO drops new GoT trailer and everything else just disappears. After slightly disappointing first trailer and that thing they call season 5 poster it looked like the marketing is really going to be bad this year.

And now?

Oh. My. God.

The trailer's focus is heavily on Daenerys but it also offers the glimpses of all the key players, with Cersei and Tyrion surprisingly appearing in only few moments. We got actual Roose Bolton lines and more Stannis in one trailer than we got in all the previous ones combined! The bits with Sansa, Loras and Brienne are all very cryptic.

Here's the music.

New shots of Sansa. Is that a crypt on the second picture? Is it Winterfell? Do I dare do even wonder about this?
No.

Hardhome. This seems to be the big battle this season, in episode 8. Judging from these pics it seams that the leaked synopsis may be right and in this case we are getting seriously amazing ending to this episode.

Tyrion....seeing Drogon?

The wedding of Tommen and Margaery and hilarious moment with Cersei

Sparrows and the mayhem in King's Landing

New shots of Arya

Jaime and Bronn fighting in Dorne

High Sparrow -You are the few and we are the many. We serve the gods and the gods demand justice

Locations: King's Landing, Volantis, Braavos?

New shots of Cersei

The fighting in Mereen and in the pit

Jon - Winter is coming. We know what's coming with it.
Tommen being denied entry to the Keep

New shots of Daenerys

Loras, possibly being arrested?

Vale riders, no idea where.

New look at Margaery

Brienne and Podrick vs Vale knights, apparently

Jorah must be hating this.

New shot of Tyrion

Melisandre looking seriously spooked. Are the walkers approaching?

Brienne, hopefully in Riverlands

Ramsay and his delightful activities

I'll be honest - no idea what this is

Daenerys in her throne room

Never mind that sound, that's just my ovaries EXPLODING

WHY IS THERE SNOW IN THIS SHOT? This better be Riverlands!!!

I don't even want to think why Stannis' wife is crying. Have fucking mercy on me.

Volantis?

And here we have probably the most epic thing in any of GoT trailers

15 best shots of 2014

Welcome to the second Best of 2014 list! There were plenty of movies last year with absolutely stunning cinematography. But this list is a little bit more specific than this. It's about that one perfect image that showed up on screen that I won't be able to ever forget. Whenever thinking of these movies, it's impossible for me not to remember the best shots in them and they just appear in my mind instantly.

Here's 15 finest cinematic images in 2014:

15. Anna, The Guest
That movie looks absolutely gorgeous. The entire film is amazingly shot and everything looks so interesting and beautiful, even in ordinary scenes at the house David stays at, where the unsuspecting family takes him in. But it's the explosion of neon colors, especially in the ending and the beautiful main heroine of the film bathed in those colors, that stays with you the most.

14. The splitter, Begin Again
I haven't seen a shot this heartbreaking in years. I just cannot believe Dan and Gretta didn't end up together. By having Dan smile I actually think Carney is showing me his middle finger. But as far as shots go, it's brilliant. And it has Ruffalo, so here we are.

13. The horses, Foxcatcher
The film is so well shot with the cinematography having such a big part in telling the story. The frantic shot of du Pont running towards the horses he never understood and who had his mother affection, unlike him, is so wonderfully telling and unforgettable.

12.  Consummation, Gone Girl
There have been many shocking and twisted images in 2014 but none comes close to the bloodbath in the scene Amy murders Desi. There are so many fantastic shots in that sequence but my favorite is the one where we clearly see Amy, determined, angry, deadly.

11. Dan, Gretta and the city, Begin Again
These two and New York are the main characters of the movie, apart from the music itself, and this shot represents it best. Just them and the city.

10. The dog, The Interview
The surprising thing about the controversial comedy is how beautifully it is shot. My favorite image of the whole film is that of the adorable sidekick of our main heroes in the tank.

9. Approval, Whiplash
We sense hearing Andrew play in the end that he finally made it. But the moment we don't just sense it anymore, but know it for sure is when someone confirms it to us - Fletcher. With his smiling eyes. He is smiling and that says it all.

8. Dancing, The Skeleton Twins
That film is one of the most underrated ones in 2014 and also one of the most beautifully shot, but the one shot that really stands out is the moment when the siblings dance together. It's so lovely, so odd and so hopeful, much like the film ends up being in the end.

7. The ending, The Imitation Game
The entirety of the film is beautifully shot, but the sequence that stands out - because of the images, score and saddening and profound lines that show up telling us what happened to Alan and how important his achievements were - is the film's final scene where the team burns the evidence of their work with Enigma machine

6. Jellyfish, Birdman
This shot appears twice in the film. And perhaps it's for a crucial reason - there is a theory out there involving that jellyfish that is incredibly fascinating, even more so than other theories about the film. It's also an absolutely gorgeous shot.

 5. The woods, Under the Skin
There are many stunning shots in that movie but there is one in particular that deserves its spot here. The image of serene woods and Laura sleeping, blended into that shot, finding peace in nature is a beautiful illustration of one of the many themes and ideas in the book. Unlike other allusions to the novel in the movie I feel this one wasn't lost on those who haven't read the source material.

4. The spinning Endurance, Interstellar
Interstellar is the worst movie with highest highs this year. As a whole it is painfully boring, silly and most of all frustrating because there are moments in it that are some of the best things I've ever seen. One of those is the shot of the spinning Endurance, disintegrating and being chased by Cooper and Amelia who will attempt to dock it. It was almost worthy seeing this movie in theater just to see this shot and that whole scene.

3. Spider above the city, Enemy
The whole film is brilliantly shot but the one image that is bound to stay in your mind after the film - and for many months after - is the footage of gigantic spider walking on top of the city. The spider moves so slowly that chances are you won't even see it at first. but when you notice it, you cannot unsee it, much like the twists and turns of the film itself.

2. The leaflet, Gone Girl
This shot brings to mind all those distorted mirror shots that portray the disturbed character. Except here it's more - it's a leaflet with Amy photo showing the attention - attention which is one of the reasons Amy is so disturbed to begin with. The fact that it is crumpled shows the flimsy of the public opinion and the ugliness of the whole thing. It's the most perfect, telling and symbolic shot of the whole film.

1. Wings, Birdman
I could actually put almost an entire movie here, but this quick shot of Birdman spreading his wings while he is walking behind Riggan is just too cool. It's the whole movie right here - Riggan and his ever present shadow.

Best movie tracks of 2014 will be published tomorrow and Best (and Worst) of 2014 list will be published on Tuesday, February 20th

  •  Engaging in annual Stannis frenzy in 3...2...1....and....
  •  I PRAYED NIGHT AND DAY FOR YOU TO RETURN TO ME!!!!
  • AND YOU HAVE!!!!!
  • Oh, BTW - thanks HBO. Thanks for making me crazy horny for the entire month. This has been/is/is gonna be a great atmosphere to learn and work in.
  • Oh God, my ovaries.
  • He is back! he is back! My precious king is back!!!!!! Oh God, he is so beautiful. THE CLOAK THE SCRUFF SWEET JESUS
  • HEEEELPPP MEEE
  • Seriously, that trailer:
  •  Those above gifs come from the set I made this week which got so many notes. I've also got 300 new tumblr followers. I hope they are ready to read my downright disturbing personal posts about how much I love a certain British gentleman nearing 60.
  • I got in such a frenzy because of Stannis I haven't even raised some issues that this trailer suggested will be happening, because you know, D&D
  • there is a shot in the camp with Stannis and Melisandre. Is it possible that Melisandre travels South with Stannis? There is a popular theory including Melisandre and one of the main characters for what is happening in the next book and if she is not where she is in the book now...huh.
  • We'll visit Volantis. So you're telling me that not only did we have to suffer Talisa but now we are probably going to meet someone connected to her? And, and you dare telling me 'there is no time'? Fuck you.
  • It looks like Littlefinger accompanies Sansa to Winterfell. Can you please tell me how this bland little girl and mister twirling his imaginary mustache Batman will outsmart Roose Bolton? He's gonna eat them up and shit them up. I'd love to see that.
  • EW sent Hibberd to do the article this year. Yes, bravo, for sending the biggest attention grabbing hack you have. I actually suffered through this entire article today and have I got a disappointing scoop for you - that's right, this guy spent 10 days on the set and this is all I learned from his 'piece' - 1. Ramsay has a new person to torture 2. someone who is not dead in the books dies this season and apparently had they been alive they would have a lot to do as they are featured prominently in the book 3. Dorne joins opening credits 4. Ellaria got some of Arianne's lines 5. They yet again confirm Stoneheart won't be in (I swear to fucking God this better be a smoke screen) 6. Nikolaj got harassed by girls everywhere he went in Spain
  • 7. Two cast members woke up drunk and naked after partying hard.
  • Just let me imagine it was Stephen.
  • Just give me this dream.
  • Seriously.
  • At least the photoshoot is great and the best part is Arya's new look which is 1. stunning 2. something I'd want to wear (seriously going shopping for that) 3. more ladylike than that rag Sansa wore last time we saw her.
  • We also got 4 covers of EW featuring Arya, Jon, Dany and Tyrion. Because God forbid we feature Stannis. But honestly maybe it would actually kill me, those 5 seconds in the trailer came damn close...
  • Also in the other corner of my perversions - you guys! I have actual magical powers!
  • I tweeted this:
  • And then, as I do at some point of my day, I started going through Matthew Goode tag on tumblr (shut up, I have a difficult life)
  • And this! this is what I found!:
  • I haven't seen the episode yet, but I hear it's a daydream?
  • What is wrong with this woman ? You are working in the same building as this guy and yet you still haven't ripped off his clothes? I don't like Alicia. That she is stuck up is one thing. But she is also clearly batshit insane and not in a fun way.
  • I saw Before I go to Sleep. It was not good. What is up with Kidman's eyes? They were so bloodashot, they looked like she was injecting herself with heroin in the eyeballs. I kept hoping Mark Strong will bang her, giving this movie at least one lively scene, but no such lack.
  • Then I saw Mindscapewhich was really good, the ending was really silly but up until that point it was solid flick. Taissa Farmiga was pretty great in the film and the whole idea was cool - Strong played a memory detective who looks for answers in the protagonist's memory. Also good news - Strong was shirtless in the shower. Bad news is that during this moment he had a hallucination of his dead wife and child.
  • Why can't I have nice things?
  •  I've been rewatching the second funniest show of all time (after the Thick of it) The It Crowd. If you guys haven't seen it yet, do. It's so fantastic
  • Have you guys heard of this movie The Lobster? The plot is that in the future "single people are obliged to find mates within 45 days or else be turned into animals and set loose in the wild".
  • I've just seen my own future and in it I'm a squirrel.
  • Veep! The first trailer is out as is the poster for the show. I just cannot wait, there are other funny shows out there nowadays like It's Always Sunny and Archer (cannot believe I still haven't seen the last 2 seasons) but Veep is from the creator of The Thick of It which automatically makes it my favorite. Also Kent, Ben and Jonah are all back!
  • I saw Predestination which was basically one gigantic plot hole made into a movie. But it was interesting. For me all those time travel/paradox movies will always fall apart because either I determine they are impossible after thinking about them for a while or I give up thinking about them because it gives me headache. But the film was quite entertaining and Sarah Snook's performance was really fantastic.
  • As a lot of you I have been watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and it's just lovely. Funny, witty and so uplifting. That show is really pure girl power. And I have to say Ellie Kemper is one hell of an actress - she was so sweet in the Office, fearless in Bridesmaids, the worst human being ever in Laggies and here as Kimmy she is just the cutest thing.
  • I notice Jane Krakowski is getting a lot of praise. Don't get me wrong, she is great comedic actress, but here she essentially plays less dumb version of Jenna from 30 Rock. You know the performance she should be getting all the praise and awards was Elaine in Ally McBeal. That was really so much better than her playing these caricatures, as entertaining as she is.
  • But the real star of the show is Tituss Burgess:
  • He is so fucking amazing. His delivery of " and then he gets on stage and shouts "'Oh my God....they shot Versace!" - so rude!" made me watch this moment 5 times and I've been laughing so hard. The guy is a revelation. I'm not surprised - I loved Queen of Jordan episodes of 30 Rock and he was hysterical in those.
  • Have you guys seen whatChloe Sevigny said about Lawrence? I love you Chloe! And for you guys bringing up Brown Bunny - I have more respect for a woman giving her boyfriend oral sex in a film than white trash with tons of naked, crude and degrading pics of herself on her phone, flipping a bird at the backstage of the Oscars and puking on Madonna's yard.
  • So Chris Hemsworth hosted SNL last Saturday. I can't really discuss this as I haven't seen it BUT there was a rumour that Jane and Thor, my favorite Marvel couple, are no longer together in Avengers: Age of Ultron. And during SNL this happened:
  •  Really? You give the official scoop on this in SNL sketch? If Natalie Portman haven't told Marvel to fuck off yet I hope she did after this.
  • Hey, I bet you thought to yourself "You know I don't think Tim Burton can become a bigger whore". WRONG! Apparently Burton is set to butcher yet another classic story for children. Prepare to read the most horrific sentence of the week. Ready? Here it goes:
  • Tim Burton is going to make live action version of Dumbo.
  • I seriously wonder if Depp is going to play the part. No, I actually do. What would be a ridiculous thought 15 years ago is now a pretty possible option.
  • Why is Disney set on destroying their own classic? Dumbo live action? Tim Burton? Shit CGI and awful colors which are seriously guaranteed with these movies? Here we go, to traumatize new generations of viewers.
  • Look I have no kids and I don't watch animated movies because I'm always the one in the theater sobbing the loudest, but holy hell can they just stop destroying kids' childhoods? What the hell is wrong with these people? Has greed no limits? Well, of course it doesn't, but here greed meets a complete lack of self awareness and dignity. Speaking of - maybe Depp will actually play multiple parts? Kinda like those Tyler Perry movies?
  • Meanwhile Johnny is already on the set of Pirates 6, phoning it in working hard to earn money for his islands and his starlet wife, and this is btw the nicest way I can possibly describe her. And he has been injured!
  • He was even flown to US for a surgery!
  • My Goodness!
  • Guess what happened?
  • ...
  • ...
  • ....
  • He hurt his hand.
  • He really lives in a bubble, doesn't he?
  • I've been enjoying Richard Madden's tour of all kinds of talks shows thanks to Cinderella release. Apparently he is close friends with Kit Harington and Harington continuously spoils the show for Madden. Richard shares all kinds of fun Thrones stories and also there's this:
  • My God!
  • FeelingFuzzier reviews Focus
  • Andrew discusses interesting movie news from this week
  • m.brown reviews Fury
  • Brittani and Kevin share their favorite live action fairy tales
  • Anna reviews From Hell
  • Ryan shares a trailer for Self/Less which stars Matthew Goode. I'm sold.
  • Ruth reviews Lucy
  • Wendell reviews Enemy
  • Leopard shares a great post and in it some incredible songs from the 90's. In case you didn't know - I fucking love 90's and everything about that time.

  • After such a long drought we have been getting so much GoT goodies lately. STANNIS!
  • Seriously look at Harington's face. This guy is such a source of joy for me.
  • Liam Cunningham and Carice van Houten give the best interviews together. I just wish Stephen tagged along with them.
  • And here's Kit explaining the series:
  •  I saw the AP livestream of GoT London premiere and it was just horrible. My God, not only did we not get a new trailer and Stephen was not there but the whole thing was shot so poorly and we were basically treated to 90 minutes of the reporter chasing the actors trying to get them to say something
  • Harington looked so mellow I feared he was going to fall asleep standing up. We found out absolutely nothing and Selyse was there, Shireen was there, Davos was there, Stannis' entire goddamn family was there. Stephen, for the Love of God. are you kidding me?! Can you maybe just once emerge from your cave/forest hut/secluded lighthouse/the other dimension where beauty such as you lives and just give us a bit of joy at staring at you?
  • You know what love is? Love is when you watch a crappy coverage of Game of Thrones premiere for 2h on Wednesday evening even if you know Stephen won't be there.
  • But you have hope. YOU HAVE HOPE!
  • I made this this week. Oh yeah.
  •  OK so we got a detailed summary of premiere episode from those who have seen it and guess what? The prophecy scene with Cersei does not mention the last part of it. It doesn't even mention valonqar! But the funniest part is that the prophecy implies that Cersei and Robert won't have kids of their own and YET back in season 1 we had Cersei talk about black-haired boy she had with Robert.
  • you know what it means, right?
  • D&D forgot. They just forgot it was there.
  • I'm 99% sure they also forgot Balon is still alive. I bet in season 7 he is the only king left and takes the throne by default.
  • Wait, that's not all!
  •  Loras has a birthmark in the shape of Dorne and he is explaining geography to some dude in a gay sex scene in 5x01.
  •  ....from the minds that brought you such hits as burping whore, who is Tysha?, who is Arianne? what is this Riverlands you speak of? and we do not have the time for Lady Stoneheart.
  • And who can forget such classic as firecracker throwing magical children?
  • In the premiere Melisandre asks Jon if he is a virgin. Imagine Harington's face.
  • Sweet Lord, they will hear my laughter in space.
  • I finally saw Mommy. It was really great but I don't think I'll review it - it's Thrones season so I'm kinda preoccupied with that, also it would be really hard to gather all my thoughts about that one and I'm really exhausted lately. It's a really excellent movie, though.
  • I also saw Focus. The only good thing I can say about it - Margot, you are gorgeous and you deserve so much better.
  •  My apologizes for not posting anything new for the entire week. I wish I could say I was doing something...well other than what I was actually doing which was....
  • ...this week I made attempts to try and learn how to do some new hair styles. Let me ask you just one thing - how do people braid their hair?! I can barely braid a regular one, but a French one? on the back of my head? How does one do that? It's too hard. I get to braid my hair maybe 10 times since it's not that long and I already lose my way after the third one. I just wanted to have Catelyn's hair :/
  • And finally it worked. Only took....several hours...over few days:
  •  Here's the full effect with my new dress. RAWR!
  • (yes I know I've gotta tidy my room at some point)
  •  I was supposed to see It Follows but the only showing is at 3 pm - when I'm at work - and 9.30 pm - when I'm at home and I have no energy to go across the city to the movie theater. This sucks.
  •  Next week I'm going with my mom to see that new Cinderella movie. All I had to do was show her the picture of Madden and say "look, this guy is in it".
  •  Meanwhile, the saga of Madden being adorable continues.
  •  Kingsmanearned more than 250 million worldwide. I hope it means they will do a sequel. Unbelievable that I'm actually rooting for Matthew Vaughn to make more movies. That's how great Kingsman is.
  • I am dying to see Spy. The reviews from SXSW festival are fantastic. I love Melissa McCarthy and I adored both Bridesmaids and The Heat. But the biggest draw for me is Jason Statham finally in a comedy again. He starred in my favorite - Snatch - and the word is he steals the show in Spy. I see everything for this guy and apparently for the first time in a long time, he is actually in a movie that is worth seeing!
  • I finished Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Titus needs that Emmy. I laughed so hard when this happened:

  • Fisti celebrates his 30th birthday

    15 Perfect Cinematic Moments

    $
    0
    0

Andrew over at A Fistful of Films came up with a very fun idea for a blogathon called A Fistful of Moments:
We all have them in the back of our minds; those moments that make us think "man, this is what the movies are all about". We relive those moments in our mind's eye, remembering them and dissecting them and adoring them. They come in all shapes and sizes, from all types of films, and yet they all share one very important aspect; they define why we love the movies. It could be the way that the moment is cut; the way it's edited together. It could be the way the moment uses it's actors to evoke a powerful emotion from us. It could be the way that music floods the scene and draws us even closer to the moment in question. It could be a grand climax, a breathtaking introduction or a simple interchange. It could be any and all things, because for every film lover, the list is different.
You are allowed to choose between 1 and 100 moments, so I settled on 15, but really depending on day there could be far more here. Those are just the ones that I was remembered of as soon as I read Andrew's idea. Here we go:

    15. Sparkling Diamonds, Moulin Rouge!
This is the film that really got me to love movies. I remember being 12 or 13, watching it in the cinema and just sitting there mesmerized at how vibrant and colorful and alive that movie was. Nicole Kidman was just breathtaking in that and for a long time she used to be my favorite actress. Who can forget that moment when she descended from the top on that swing?

    14. The church scene, Kingsman
I'm sure there were other times where my jaw dropped during a scene and stayed that way for the entirety of such scene, but this is the most recent one.

    13. The switch, The Big Lebowski (watch)
This is one of the very few scenes during which I genuinely laughed out loud. The whole film is hysterical but this moment is simply pure comedy gold - I had to pause the movie to catch a breath.

    12. The final game, Moneyball (watch)
There is something so mesmerizing about Moneyball. It's a movie that moves so steadily, so peacefully and it is all building up to the movie's most exciting moment - the final victory for the team. It's not a shiny, epic scene but it's such a rewarding and beautifully shot moment.

    11. The kiss, Brokeback Mountain (watch)
Brokeback Mountain remains the movie which I think capture love the best. And that kiss? There's nothing false about it. It's such a beautiful and at the same time tragic moment.

    10. Docking of Endurance, Interstellar (watch)
While I think Interstellar is a painfully average movie, it is also a movie with such great heights. Granted, those heights are surrounded by so many boring and awful scenes (space bookshelves!), but when they happen, you sit there mesmerized. Perhaps that docking scene also got a lot of its impact because it's so much more engaging than most of the movie. It's quite simply epic and it's almost made the trip to cinema worth it, just to see this scene.

    9. For once in my life, Begin Again (watch)
This is my favorite scene of 2014. If there was ever a scene showing falling in love accurately and beautifully, it is this. Granted the rest of the movie kinda rips your heart but this scene fills it with pure joy.

    8. The rant, Casino (watch)
I love Casino. I could watch it on repeat. And the best thing about the movie is Joe Pesci's hilarious performance. His rant on the desert is just unbelievable.

    7. The piano scene, Stoker (watch)
This is so hot. It's just so goddamn hot.

    6. Blackwater's ending, Game of Thrones (watch)
Yeah, I'm cheating, but come on this is Thrones. Blackwater is its finest episode and though I root for the Starks and Stannis my heart skipped a bit when Tywin Lannister walked through that door. This scene is so amazingly well made, intense and perfectly acted by Lena Headey. She plays one of the worst people in the show and yet in that moment, your heart breaks for her. It's one of the best moments in the show's history.

    5. The love scene, Fugitive Pieces
It's just so beautiful. So very, very beautiful. I wish I could show you the scene but it's not on youtube. Seek this movie out, it's amazing.

    4. The assassination, The Assassination of Jesse James (watch)

I am still surprised by how much I loved this movie. It's long, it's a western and it has a very slow pace. But it's absolutely brilliant. Every single thing in this film is exquisite and the film's most important scene is truly a thing of beauty. But the best thing about is how resigned and heartbroken Sam Rockwell's character is, even before the deed is done.

    3. Catelyn takes Tyrion, Game of Thrones (watch)
II saw the first season of the show in one night. 10 episodes, one after one. But the moment that really got me hooked and made it impossible for me to stop watching was the ending of episode 4 where my favorite Catelyn calls the men in the inn to seize Tyrion. It's such an intense, fantastically shot and acted out scene and it remains one of my favorite moments in the entire show.

    2. The entirety of Gravity

I will always remember the experience of watching this movie in the cinema. It was easily the most breathtaking spectacle I saw on screen and it truly felt like a trip into space.

    1. Odile's coda, Black Swan (watch)

Black Swan is my favorite movie of all time so it usually tops lists like that. Watching Nina's journey was a very personal thing for me and the sequence of her transforming on stage, triumphing and truly losing herself is just indescribable. The dance is around 60 seconds long but it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen on the screen.

  • I can't. I can't.
  • It's not okay that the one in the middle turns me on.
  • I saw only 2 movies this last week. I haven't actually seen Twenty8K from which the above gifs are from, just, you know, gifed it for the ladies, but I did see Welcome to Sarajevo. All I wanted to see was Stephen in unbuttoned shirt (which I did). Unfortunately, I also got to see heartbreaking scenes of soldiers taking infants away from their families...Man, am I glad there was all this shirtlessness going on.
  • So there is this really long interview from Oxford with Kit Harington and John Bradley which I couldn't watch yet because D&D were there (ew) and I need some sort of liquor to get through this, but apparently this adorable moment happened:
  • In this week's entry of D&D suck - an actor wrote an letter after the showrunners told him/her they are killing off the character, stating the reasons why he/she thinks it's a bad idea. The showrunners, in front of that audience, in that video which is online now, said it only made them want to kill that character off more. What a dick move to say such a thing.
  •  And people are actually blaming the actor here? This isn't just a show, but a source of livelihood for these people. What's wrong in writing a letter trying to defend your character and trying to stay in the show? And they use it as an anecdote and ridicule it. These people are the worst.
  • The premiere in San Francisco was infinitely better than that fiasco in London. Look who was there:
  • Almost entire freaking cast wast there, even Hodor who is not in this season was there, but was Stephen there?
  • NOOOOO.
  • And why is no one playing with the Stannis doll?!
  • The answer to the question - who would you bring back? from the London premiere:
  • LISTEN TO YOUR DAMN CAST!!!!!
  • Let me tell you about my Wednesday. So I sit there, in my office , refreshing asoiaf.westeros board as one does and then I see these tidbits 1. Gwendoline Christie said Bri's storyline this season is her favorite by far. 2. a rumor from someone claiming to have seen screener of episode 2 that Bri says to Sansa that she looks like her mother to which Sansa replies 'my mother is dead' and then after Brienne and Pod escape Vale guards they...hear scary noises in the forest.
  • So naturally I jump all over it.
  • Then on imdb this news shows up - in short there is this actress Stella McCusker who looks a lot like Michele Fairley and she appears for the first time in episode 3 which is said to have an ending that will freak book readers out and is credited as 'old woman'.
  • Also at the same time another post by Hibberd showed up, claiming that he has some answers about "LS being cut" when as usual he had fuck all.
  • I went on a total Internet rampage, spreading these rumours everywhere to read other people's opinion.
  • My conclusion?
  • It makes perfect sense in my life if I get Stoneheart but she is not played by Michelle. It's kinda like 'yes, Sati, you get Stannis in the armor and winning the battle....but he will arrive in the next episode'. 'Yes, Sati, you get Stoneheart...but it's not Michelle'. Yes, sure, with make up, you can do it. But the thing is we will know it's not her!
  • Then there is another info saying that this actress plays someone in Winterfell.
  • Then there is a part of an old woman who helps Brienne who appears in few episodes which is apparently not the same old woman.
  • In short - it's a total clusterfuck. It's like trying to figure out that third Matrix movie
  •  The noises in the forest info seems legit, though. There better be the pay off there I've been waiting three fucking years for.
  • As usual George R.R. Martin is working hard on writing the books. "George R.R. Martin recently caught up on AMC’s The Walking Dead. The Game of Thrones author tells us he binged about 14 episodes in a row". My God. When I was watching Kimmy Schmidt I managed to find time to watch 1,5 episode a day. And it's only 20 minutes for one episode.
  • I know some of you are fans of Girls and Lena Dunhamso I highly encourage you to see the recent vile thing she did. Come on, you cannot defend this stuff.
  • Meanwhile, Vin Diesel said some stuff that is really...you have to read it for yourselves.
  • So Matthew Goode joined Downton Abbey and now Downton Abbey is ending? Oh, for fuck's sake.
  • Meanwhile I now only watch his scenes in The Good Wife because I cannot stand Alicia anymore. She is so boring, rigid and joyless. Also Margulies portrayal of her is more overrated than most of Meryl Streep's work.
  • I've seen Wild Taleswhich was really fun. The wedding story was my favorite and the actress playing the bride was so fantastic!
  • I had a hellish week at work this week. My contract expires on Tuesday and they didn't inform me what's next for this whole week. So today I got pissed off and just asked my boss if I still will have a job and it turns out that yes and he totally forgot that he was supposed to tell me what's happening. I work at a freaking courthouse, shouldn't it be a serious place?
  • Anyways I'm glad, because I cannot be unemployed and Thrones obsessed. Both of those combined would be just...sad.
  • Michael Keaton will host SNL on April 4th. I'm definitely going to see that one.
  • Gillian Flynn will write script for that Steve McQueen's movie. Why can't she just focus on Sharp Objects adaptation so we don't have another Dark Places fiasco on our hands?

11 things to look forward to in Game of Thrones 5

    $

    0
We're two weeks away from the season premiere of Game of Thrones 5. It's hard to predict what events from the books are gonna be featured in this season, thanks to quite secretive marketing campaign (we only have 2 trailers and 2 short TV spots) and the many changes from the books already indicated in the released footage. Also the show goes further than the stories in the books - most notably with Sansa and so far it looks that to avoid spoiling whatever happens for her next, her story will merge with some of the plots from published books.

Anyways, here's what we know for sure that's gonna happen in this season that I'm looking forward to:
    (spoilers!)
    11. Dorne
This season we travel to a whole new location - the stunning, colorful and lively Dorne where we meet Oberyn Martell's family, including his older brother Doran (Alexander Siddig) and Oberyn's three daughters. In a change from the books Jaime actually travels to Dorne to make sure his daughter Myrcella, sent there by Tyrion in season 2, is safe. Also in this storyline we have Ellaria, taking over Arianne's role in the books and calling loudly for vengeance and Bronn, who travels with Jaime/

    10. "...you vile, scheming, evil bitch" - chaos in King's Landing
Because of Cersei's actions both Cersei and Margery find themselves in life threatening situations. This storyline includes a number of similarities to Anne Bolyen's trial (ironically Dormer played Boleyn in the Tudors), sadistic interrogations, cruel septas and fanatical religious men. This is gonna be good TV.

    9. Jorah and Tyrion

These two fan favorites are gonna meet this season and I cannot wait to see Glenn and Dinklage share the screen.

    8. The tears of Sansa's fans/The Wedding in Winterfell (rumored episode 6)
I don't like Sansa. I don't like Sophie Turner. I think that everything about this girl is overrated. And I'm not particularly fond of Sansa fans, writing hogwash like 'OMG her Maleficent dress was so amazing". So truly, what is interesting to me about her arc in the show it's the hilarious outrage of her fanbase whenever something 'horrible' happens. This season Littlefinger and Sansa arrive in Winterfell. In the book Ramsay marries Sansa's friend Jeyne Poole and everyone pretends it's Arya, so that Ramsay would have a better claim to the North. Horrible things happen to Jeyne and of sexual nature too. So just imagine what happens in this fandom if in a twist it's Sansa who marries Ramsay and has sex with him, as some rumours point to. We know Sansa is in Winterfell. We know there will be a wedding. So there is a chance she is the lucky bride. Either way let me just say I'm appalled Sansa seems to be taking over the role of Manderlys who are avenging the North. Manderlys are interesting. Sansa isn't.

Also between Littlefinger and Sansa they don't have 1/10 of Roose's intelligence. They are so screwed.

    7. Hardhome (episode 8)
What is not as big of a battle as the one on the Wall last season is shaping up to be far more epic - Wildings and Jon Snow fighting the wights looks like the major battle event this season. Rumor has it we will see Night's King himself in this sequence and wights...underwater. It sounds wickedly cool.

    6. "Fetch me the block!" (episode 5)

Jon Snow executing that little weasel Janos Slynt as Stannis looks from his tower and nods approvingly. Oh my God.

Lena Headey during the shooting of the sequence
    5. Walk of Shame (episode 10)

Arguably the biggest moment in Cersei's storyline - her walk of atonement for her crimes, as she, shaved and naked, is forced to walk the streets of King's Landing. It's a beautifully written moment in the books and hopefully the show does it justice.

    4. Daenerys takes flight (episode 9)

The sequence in the Daznak Pit of Daenerys taming Drogon and then flying away on his back is quite possibly gonna be the most visually stunning moment in the show. Here's the thing though - Tyrion is also there in the show and it looks like unlike in the books, he may actually meet with Daenerys? I cannot imagine D&D being as bold/stupid as to imitate Titanic flying moment and have Tyrion mount Drogon too, but more idiotic things have happened. Either way, seeing Dany fly on Drogon is bound to be a huge nerd moment for everyone watching the show.

    3. "For the Watch" (episode 10)

People will lose their minds over this.

    2. Any kind of combat including Stannis

I don't think Battle of Winterfell is happening this season, we saw no glimpses of it in any of the promo materials. But I desperately want to see Stannis, with his mighty scruff and armor swing a sword.

    1. The third year of 'will she rise?!' paranoia.
We don't know much about Brienne's storyline this season. We know that she stays true to her oath and searches for Stark girls (though, she already found both of them, but let's disregard that fact). She may or may not hear creepy noises in episode 2 and find shelter in the woods in episode 7. There is an old woman in her storyline who is going to help her because she understand the 'dangerous situation' Brienne is in. Then there is that shot of her and Pod in the snow blizzard.

    what...the....hell?!

There are rumours of Gendry returning this season. Also Brienne appears to be wandering around the woods area quite a bit. I just want to see Stoneheart. I've suffered enough.

10 underrated Game of Thrones performances

    $
    0
    0
Game of Thrones is the show with the biggest ensemble of regular cast members currently airing - the show has nearly 30 cast members credited as regulars and hundreds of characters.  A number of actors received their Emmy nominations, there were many wins for Peter Dinklage and there is a lot of love for people like Conleth Hill, Gwendoline Christie and Michelle Fairley, whose lack of Emmy nomination and win borders on travesty. But today I wanted to focus on the wonderful performances by those who are very supporting in the ensemble - some appearing in just few episodes, some gone from several seasons and some only with the new season promoted to series regulars. Here are those who are just wonderful and contribute so much to the series being so incredibly well acted:

     10. Missandai
portrayed by Nathalie Emmanuel (season 3,4,5)

    "Valar morghulis"

Daenerys had great female characters in her storyline from the beginning - her cute handmaidens were not just gorgeous but also tough and because of them we got several lovely scenes of Daenerys standing up for women and having relationships with someone other than men who either desired her or tried to control her. But in season 3 we got the best female addition to her storyline - the charming, kind Missandai played by gorgeous Emmanuel who is so lovely it almost makes you not hate the writers for that silly romance subplot involving her and Grey Worm.

    9. Walder Frey
portrayed by David Bradley (episodes 1x09, 3x09, 3x10)

"The King in the North arises..."

Walder Frey is arguably the most despicable character in the entire series - a man with no loyalty and honor, who is responsible for the Red Wedding. David Bradley only appeared in three episodes (but said he will return in future seasons) and he is unforgettable as the appalling villain. Even if we have to wait to see him for several years once he shows up again we are still gonna be rooting for him to suffer.

    8. Alliser Thorne
portrayed by Owen Teale (season 1 - current)

"Tonight, we fight! And when the sun rises, I promise you, Castle Black will stand! The Night's Watch will stand! With me now! Now with me!"

Thorne who we saw being mean to poor Jon Snow and scared shitless Samwell since season 1 is one of the only charismatic guys in Night's Watch - thank the Lord that storyline has any, Stannis is joining that subplot this year and Harington's performance improved so much, because man, it was difficult to get into that one season 1. But Thorne really became a badass in his own right with his awesome speech in the battle episode of season 4, which was pretty much one of the very few good things about this episode.

    7. Locke
portrayed by Noah Taylor (season 3,4)

"The fuck are you doing to my bear?!"

Locke is the show's replacement for the character of Vargo Hoat, most well known for his lisp. I remember how upset the people were when it was announced that the show is creating some new character in the place of Hoat but Noah Taylor, who is such an charismatic actor, completely owned the part and gave us so many hilarious one liners ("We only have one bear", "Who the fuck is Jon Snow?"). If only the showrunners didn't write him out in such a stupid way....

    6. Maester Luwin
portrayed by Donald Sumpter (season 1,2)

    "All of them, my Lord?"

It was nice seeing someone who cared about the Starks so much, giving the boys the support while Ned was in King's Landing and Catelyn joined Robb in his war. Maester Luwin was such a kind character and his death is still one of the saddest in the series. There were also so many great little touches in Sumpter's performance, my favorite being his pride of Robb's courage as he asks him to call all the banners to defend his father.

    5. Osha
portrayed by Natalia Tena (season 1,2,3)

     "The cold winds are rising."

George R.R. Martin liked Tena's portrayal so much he is writing a little more for the character in his new books. Tena is really great in the part, making the storyline somewhat interested singlehandedly. She plays a wildling who becomes the prisoner of the Starks and in the end a guardian of both Bran and Rickon. Last we saw her she was taking Rickon away to safety and she is said to return in the future seasons.

    4. Viserys Targaryen
portrayed by Harry Lloyd (season 1)

"That's all I wanted, what was promised."

Looking back at the series, you realize how many great characters were there that are no longer alive in the show. And how surprising that Viserys, Daenerys' arrogant brother, was only in the show for six episodes - I still remember all of his scenes very well and Lloyd was just fantastic in the role, balancing the characters' cruelty, obsession with power and being a scared little boy inside so well.

    3. Qyburn
portrayed by Anton Lesser (season 3,4,5)

    "There will be pain."

Qyburn is one of the best cast characters in the show - he looks exactly like Martin described him - like a sweet, gentle, kind man. But in reality Qyburn is a monster, conducting experiments on alive subjects. We still haven't seen the depths of his evil, but we will soon.

    2. Thoros of Myr
portrayed by Paul Kaye (season 3, please God season 5)

"I knelt beside his cold body, and said the old words. Not because I believed in them, but... he was my friend. And he was dead. And they were the only words I knew. And for the first time in my life, the Lord replied. Beric's eyes opened. And I knew the truth: our God is the one true God... and all men must serve Him."

Thoros of Myr is a fascinating character - red priest who was on the verge of losing his faith, who drinks way too much and who is a part of Brotherhood without Banners. He has a real power - time and time again he has brought his friend Beric Dondarrion back from the dead. Kaye, who resembles William Hurt to a freaky degree, was just excellent in the role and he was one of the very few males in the series not intimated when sharing the screen with luminous Carice van Houten. I really hope we will see him again, perhaps even in the new season.

    1. Roose Bolton
portrayed by Michael McElhatton (season 2,3,4,5)

     "The Lannisters send their regards."

McElhatton, just like Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister, makes his character so charismatic, interesting and compelling, you are almost disgusted at yourself for enjoying his scenes, because they are both such bad men. Roose, a member of cruel Bolton house which flays people and who himself killed Robb Stark and participated in Red Wedding, is one of the most clever characters in the show - what's great is that there is also a great deal of humor injected to his scenes as he berates his monstrous bastard son Ramsay and downright trolls people (who can forget that scene where Jaime literally fall to his knees after Roose leading him to believe, briefly, that something happened to Cersei?). If there is one character who deserves to meet his end from Stannis (which is something that I really hope happens in future books and the show) it's him. Funny bit here - there is some confusion in fandom as some keep mixing Dillane and McEhatton up.

  • We got new promo still of Stannis!
  • Oh God, look how beautiful.
  •  Kerry Ingram, who plays Stannis' daughter Shireen, said that Stephen Dillane "stays in character" on set and that she doesn't talk to him between takes and only does when they're in the car being driven away from set and then he's "lovely".
  • I'm having so many feels my heart is gonna explode.
  • I really want Stannis to have a scene with Shireen again. They are both so precious. Melisandre you stay away from that child!
  • Carice and Liam keep giving interviews and apparently Davos may or may not be in a 'shocking scene' this year and Melisandre is up to no good. I really hope it's not Davos or Shireen who die but I can easily imagine a scenario where Davos dies protecting Shireen from those crazy bitches. Don't take Davos away from Stannis for the love of God!
  • Ah, the gems one finds on tumblr:
  • I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I haven't drooled a little bit at 'quiet, strong man' thing.
  • Those who were lucky to see the screeners of first four episodes shared a bit of info and apparently the show included the moment where a ten year old girl tells Stannis to fuck off in a letter.
  • Here's how it goes in the book:

  • “How old is this wretched girl child?”
Jon had to think a moment. “Ten. Or near enough to make no matter. Might I know how she has offended Your Grace?”
Stannis read from the letter. “Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is STARK." A girl of ten, you say, and she presumes to scold her lawful king.

  • Imagine, imagine his fabulous expression!
  •  the owners of asoiaf.westeros who are quite critical of the show changing things said this - "our favorite scene in first 4 eps involves Stannis.brand new, not from the books scene. Beautifully written and acted." IT'S OUR TIME STANNIS FANS!
  • And he is in all four episodes.
  • And the NOD is in!!!
  • I'm gonna die and go to Stannis Heaven.
  • One week until new Thrones! One week after I do absolutely nothing else on Mondays except for watching it, gifing it, bitching about, writing recap about it and looking at Stannis after coming from work! One week till my borderline psychotic recaps return! ONE MOTHERFUCKING WEEK!!!
  • I've been facing a lot of personal attacks this week because I believe Stoneheart can show up. I decided to give up hoping for her return. I will not be named "probably insecure and fat" by middle aged guys with small dicks living in their parents' basements .I have a law degree, well paying job, awesome clothes, good looks, great friends and an independent movie site approaching 1,500,000 views. What have you ever accomplished? Jerking off in the corner afterwards having a career by deliver newspapers on your bike?
  • We know that in episode 4 Brienne and Pod are heading North. Yeah, it doesn't look good.
  • Here's the thing that is the most shocking Hibberd of EW actually posted something useful - this new GRRM interview and I quote - “In one intriguing new wrinkle, Martin says he just came up with a big, revealing twist on a long-time character that he never previously considered. This is going to drive your readers crazy, he teases, but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. Its a great twist. Its easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, its just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved it all makes sense. But its nothing Ive ever thought of before. And its nothing they can do in the show, because the show has already on this particular character made a couple decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions.”
  • this? this is me now ------------------->
  • Is he talking about her? If he is to me It means 1. she is not on the show 2. Martin doesn't know if she is on the show and assumes she isn't and either way yet another sweet revenge on D&D. I love you George.
  • Of course he could be talking about a number of changes D&D made. Aegon,. Jeyne Westerling. Jeyne Poole. Victation. Euron....goddammit, somebody stop these people.
  • GRRM in what I interpret as "Fuck you D&D I am not letting you spoil my readers" released new Sansa chapter this week,. It was pretty good, for the first time when I read Sansa chapter I didn't find her stupid and boring. But just imagine how D&D will alter that. Sansa and Ramsay dancing and joking around. Ah, stupiditywe have no time writing but we show so many whores the fanbase explosion.
  • Seriously if Sansa marries Ramsay - and it looks she may - there will be worse reaction than when Jaime raped Cersei.
  • I saw The Gathering. It was so bad, it was so very bad. But it had plenty of Stephen which still places it above most other films.
  • I also saw Cinderella. It was so lovely! It didn't have any flying trolls, atrocious colors and money grabbing quality written all over it like Maleficent, Oz or Alice in Wonderland, it had so much charm and heart. I was smiling like crazy throughout the entire film. Oh God I also cried when her dress was transforming and then when she was dancing with the Prince. I'm so old and sentimental.
  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Rosamund Pike finally won an award for Gone Girl! At Empire awards and here's her speech:
  •  They released some new pictures from Dark Places where we finally see Christina Hendricks as Libby's plain mother. This is so ridiculous. Nothing about this woman is plain. She does has a wonderful role to play here, though so I'm hoping at least the film didn't waste her.
  • Speaking of Hendricks have you guys seen that sick poster for Gosling's pretentious directorial debut Lost River? The one with the scissors (scroll this page) What the hell? Is that what happens in this movie? I mean....what the hell?
  • My mom is away on the 3-week long trip which means me and Gustav have to get by on our own. It's tough. I'm pretty sure the department of sanitation is gonna bust in here. I keep putting dirty clothes in a bucket. I think I need to take those to the river bank and wash them.
  • Yep, this is how busy I was. Forgot Matthew Goode's birthday :/
  • I've been kinda exhausted this week - work, tracking GoT rumours - hey you laugh, but March-June is the time for me to be excited and fall into pure escapism, dealing with human resources department - I had to take one day off on the day my old contract was expiring and they kept ringing me on my day off,  I warned my boss I won't be in last week but apparently HR thinks they should be informed too, shall I also give them my freaking pin number and bra size? - dealing with crying Gustav - after my mom left he cried for an hour - managing the house, shopping etc. I managed to rewatch The Heat - I don't care what people say this movie is hysterical and U Turn which is so underrated. The aesthetic in this movie is what I absolutely adore:
  • Christopher Nolansays that you should see Interstellarmore than once to appreciate its science. I laughed for 5 minutes after I saw that and then I just asked "why the fuck would anyone do that to themselves?
  • also....what "science"?
  • They made honest trailer for it and it's just brilliant:
  •  m.brown managed the impossible - he wrote hilarious review of last year's bleakest movie, Foxcatcher
  • Andrew finally read Gone Girl

    Farewell to asoiaf.westeros

This will probably be completely weird to those who don't post there, on GoT fanboard, but there is plenty of folks who do I've been posting with for the last 2 years. I've been banned from posting there and I just want to say I'll miss talking to you guys, sharing my insane Stoneheart hopes, downright perverted Stannis musings, my gifs and my recaps.

But every owner of the site has the right to ban people, I guess. So I won't be coming back. I was banned for linkng my own tumblr post and then I spoke my mind to the admin, which as usual, when it comes to people with imaginary power you shouldn't do. But I'm in justice system. This is what I do for a living. I'm disgusted by those taking the power of speech without warming and just silencing you with 'you cannot reply'. So I did what I did. And I can finally see the merit behind those 'this is a toxic place' statements. Let it be a proof of that that all the posts expressing the puzzlement and dare I say sadness I was gone were deleted.

But I don't want to post on a place where a person with imaginary power can write you things like "your attitude isn't helpful, you should sit back for two weeks". So I won't use new accounts to come back. A place led by such people, is not worth it.

The idea that a person, contributing to a community for two years can be banned in seconds because a singe person doesn't like what she says is disgusting. I heard claims of this place being toxic a lot of times, but when you, you whoever the hell you think you are write to a person 'you can sit back for two weeks' you are displaying yourself for who you are. And you are not fit to run ANYTHING. And I feel so bad for this writer, who gave people so much joy with his series, that he has trusted you. You are not worth of that trust.

I'll be posting on imdb board of GoT. I'll be uploading my gifs on tumblr and recaps here. And I'll be trashing the censorship and the abuse of power, the people, GRRM unfortunately associates with, display, on my twitter. I'll always find the time to respond to you, my friends, those of you who were so kind, supportive and who where shocked I was gone. I cherish you a lot.

I'll miss you all and if you ever wanna talk, drop by here, on tumblr, or on twitter. Love you guys!

    White Swan, Black Swan blogathon

    $

For the new blogathon I thought it would be fun to pay homage to my all time favorite movie and one of my favorite types of characters - Black Swan.

What is black swan you may ask, Well, it has never been stated as an official term but I'd like to think the idea of a black swan/white swan is a very elegant way of depicting the duality in characters. So I encourage you to write about your favorite white swans/black swans, both in movies and in TV series.

There are so many fascinating cases of character being one thing to the outside world and completely different person in reality - Mavis from Young Adult, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, Brandon from Shame...you can choose characters from all the genres and it's doesn't matter if they are lead or very supporting.

I'd love for this to be also the opportunity to write about those fascinating characters from the psychological standpoint, so go for it!

    Here are the rules:

    1. Choose max 3 characters to write about.
    2. You can also feature characters from TV series.
    3. We are not looking for doppelgangers - we are looking for one person with two sides. For example in Black Swan you can write about Nina and her alter ego but not about Lily and Nina, which are two different people. You can write about Gollum/Smeagol but you cannot write about Bette and Dot - the Siamese twins from AHS: Freakshow - because technically they are two different people.
    4. Write about why you chose the character
    5. Provide a theory on what causes the two different sides and what are the signs and contradictions between the two, for example you can write about things like that:

12 cinematic and television gems I found because of my actor crushes

    $
    0
    0

My way of watching films? See everything the actor I adore is in. I've recently acquired such obscure stuff with Stephen Dillane that I'm amazed I even managed to find it (and thanks to everyone who helped!). I don't care what imdb rating is. I don't even care what the movie is about. If he is in it, I'll watch it.

It's a technique I employed for years and while I have seen so much shit (Idris Elba really needs to be in better movies, seriously) there are several films which I watched and absolutely adored that I wouldn't have found if it wasn't for my love for that one particular actor who is in it. And almost all of those are completely unknown to the general public, so yet again let me shine a light on these true gems I found, hoping that you guys manage to find them and watch them:

    12. Soldier's Girl (2003) (review)
    seen for Lee Pace

Based on true events, Soldier's Girl is a shocking and horrifying story of real life crime. Pace, in his first big role, plays Calpernia Addams, a transsexual performer. A young soldier falls for her and the two start a relationship. What follows is a shattering story with beautiful performances and one of the examples of how horrible the intolerance and hatred can be.

    11. Eden Lake (2008) (review)
     seen for Michael Fassbender

Eden Lake is one of the most suspenseful and disturbing horror films of the past few years. Why? Because the things shown in this film could easily happen. The movie tells the struggle of two people - a sweet couple played by Kelly Reilly and Fassbender, who are being hunted by the demoralized group of teenagers. It's absolutely chilling.

    10. Un Balcon sur la Mer (2010) (review)
     seen for Jean Dujardin

I've seen a whole bunch of movies for Jean but this one was hands down the best find. The film is a charming romance story  Happily married with a daughter, Marc is a successful real estate agent in Aix-en-Provence. One day, he has an appointment with a woman to view a traditional country house. A few hours later, Marc finally puts a name to her face. It's Cathy, the girl he was in love with growing up in Oran, Algeria, in the last days of the French colonial regime. Marc hurries to her hotel. They spend the night together. Then she's gone again. And Marc's mother tells him Cathy never left Algeria. She was killed with her father in a bombing just before independence...The film is a really lovely mixture of thriller and romance, with beautiful performances and cinematography.

    9. London (2005) (review)
    seen for Jason Statham

Jason Statham, whom I absolutely adore, gets a bad rep. People associate him with action movies and say he is not a good actor. That's not true. He can be incredibly funny, a proof of which is his work in early Guy Ritchie movies and apparently, in upcoming Spy. He is also able to meet the challenge of more complex parts, like his work here, in under seen, underrated and very atmospheric London. Ladies, Chris Evans is also here, so track this one down.

    8. Luther (2010-2015) (review)
     seen for Idris Elba

I started watching Luther right after I finished season 3 of The Wire and I was absolutely shocked when I heard Elba's accent. I was thinking 'Wow, he is pretending to have such thick English accent here!' and then I found Elba actually is English and the pretend accent was him sounding like an American in The Wire. Luther remains Elba's best work - he plays a good man with violent temper, a good cop with messed up personal life. And the best part of the show is his electric chemistry with Alice Morgan, splendidly played by Ruth Wilson. I cannot believe they are gonna ruin the show, twice - there is American remake in the works AND a feature film which is gonna destroy that fantastic season 4 ending.

    7. Strange Days (1995) (review)
    seen for Ralph Fiennes

A unique science fiction movie is a rarity. Even more rare is seeing a movie where Ralph Fiennes plays a laid back guy. Well, that's Strange Days for you. The film has awesome premise -  set in the year 1999 during the last days of the old millennium, the movie tells the story of Lenny Nero, an ex-cop who now deals with data-discs containing recorded memories and emotions. One day he receives a disc which contains the memories of a murderer killing a prostitute. Lenny investigates and is pulled deeper and deeper in a whirl of blackmail, murder and rape. Will he survive and solve the case? - and amazing atmosphere plus bitchin' soundtrack. And Angela Bassett is in it. And the film's ending contains one of my favorite movie kisses of all time.

    6. Wonder Boys (2000)
     seen for Robert Downey Jr

This is such a delightful movie which contains one of the best performances from Michael Douglas. Douglas plays  Grady Tripp, a professor/writer living in Pittsburgh who is struggling with writer's block. Whilst doing this, he also manages to get the chancellor pregnant. In the meantime, he and a college student, James Leer (Tobey McGuire) are trying to find a rare jacket once owned by Marilyn Monroe, and a college girl, Hannah Green boarding with Grady has a bit of a crush on him. Downey plays Douglas' colorful editor and he is really hilarious here. Also it's the only movie where you get to see Spiderman and Iron Man in bed together.

    5. Dark Harbor (1998)
     seen for Alan Rickman

This is honestly the kind of story Ingmar Bergman could make a movie about. A bickering couple (Alan Rickman and Polly Walker) drive fast through a downpour to catch the last ferry to their island retreat. In a flash, they recognize a crumpled body laying at the side of the road after much argument they stop, only to find a young boy (Norman Reedus) battered and bruised. An offer of summoning the police firmly rejected, the two help the boy as best they can although it certainly means missing the ferry... and so starts this thriller: a tale of twisted sexual attraction and ulterior motives. The film has terrific performances, incredibly intense scenes and very cool intrigue and twists and turns.

    4 Solaris (2002) (review)
     seen for George Clooney

This movie may not be for everyone - slow pace, cryptic story, lots of surrealism - but I found it to be absolutely beautiful. It's hypnotic and strangely hopeful, depending how you interpret the film's ending. Either way, even if it's not your cup of tea, it's worth seeing for gorgeous cinematography and incredible score alone.

    3. Burning Man (2011)
    seen for Matthew Goode

This is a true gem of a movie - incredible performances, gorgeous cinematography, fantastic and intricate story structure and haunting scone by Lisa Gerrard. It's a profound story of love, grief and returning to the world of the living after suffering loss and it has absolutely remarkable performance by Matthew Goode.

    2. Fugitive Pieces (2007) (review)
seen for One True God Stephen Dillane

Fugitive Pieces is a beautiful film about Jakob, a writer, who, when he was a little boy, saw his family killed by Nazis. Years later Jakob is still haunted by horrible memories, mostly of his beloved sister who was taken away. It's a gorgeous film about going on in spite of the pain that is in one's past and I'm so grateful that unlike the novel the film has a lovely, happy, hopeful ending.

    1. Dirty Filthy Love (2004)
    seen for Michael Sheen

This one is actually in my top 100 favorite movies of all time. It's a small TV production but it's right up there with theatrical films when it comes to quality of the script and performances. It's the finest work of Michael Sheen's career and it also has incredible performance from always great Shirley Henderson. Sheen plays Mark, a successful architect whose life starts to collapse due to his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Tourette's Syndrome. Mark is obsessed with getting back with his wife and at the same time, at support group he meets Charlotte, a woman with problems of her own, who starts helping him. While the film has many quirky and funny scenes, it's also heartbreaking and the depiction of Mark's disease is very upsetting. But it all ends in a beautiful and hopeful way.

Honestly guys, track these films down. You're gonna be making me one happy bunny if you see them!

  • I made the above set of Stephen in the movie Storm.
  • ....then I passed out for several minutes.
  • 2 DAYS TILL THRONES STANNIS!
  •  There's also this:
  • Now YOU plunge that dagger baby, PLUNGE IT!
  • ...
  • I apologize, I'm way too turned on to be near a keyboard. They should lock me up in a dungeon.
  • Look at my majestic baby on the top of the Wall.
  • So remember how last week I was hoping for new Shireen/Stannis scene?
  • Rumor has it, I'll get my wish in the first four episodes. I won't get into specifics because I want all of you to be moved when you see it. Oh my God. I'm gonna be weeping for days. It sounds so beautiful and moving. I just want to hold them both.
  • Apparently the aimless wanderer Brienne does what we all feared - mentions her oath to kill Stannis because he killed Renly. I like Brienne, but if she kills Stannis, she is dead meat to me.
  • They made Brienne into such a dumbass on the show I can see her changing her mind and simply joining Stannis within 10 seconds of meeting him. HOWEVER that beautiful scene between Shireen and Stannis from first four eps seems like the kind of sadistic 'You want to teach little Ned ride horses, don't you?' crap D&D would pull to make people more fucked up when Mel burns that little angel or that idiot kills Stannis over her crush.
  • Of course in my logic upon looking at Stephen Dillane a woman's sword (and her clothes) would fall on the ground, but Brienne is beyond reason.
  • Like seriously who cares about Renly? The only thing abominable about that whole let's kill Renly with a shadow thing was the fact that Dillane didn't undress for his sex scene. What the fuck are you doing to me with this damn show?!
  • Oh God I just want Stannis and Shireen and Davos to be happy. I want these two lunatic bitches gone and I want Stannis to meet nice, sane girl (not me cause I obviously don't qualify, also he is fictional...right?). Please please please.
  • I will be recaping the new episodes as usual. The show is taking such detours this year I didn't do what I always do before the new season - read the book it is based on - because one can get paranoia and utter confusion from trying to figure out what was in the show and what was in the books. Seriously I was thinning about one of the subplots lately and went "wait, was it in the show or in the books?'. So I'm just gonna be straight up writing about the show, only including some comparison to the books.
  • So yeah, everyone knows for most of Monday I am offline and just crawling on the floor yelling 'Stannis!', yes?
  • I made a visual representation of what Sansa fans can expect in season 5 and got pleas from disgruntled little bird fans to delete it. Oh, God, will these folks threaten to jump off buildings in season 5?
  • It sure will be entertaining to see an explosion bigger than what happened after the writers ruined Jaime's character in season 4.
  • Seriously, though, it's the point where we should start laughing at the ridiculous writing in the show. Otherwise we are gonna give ourselves a heart attack.
  •  Look at me - I've given up on Stoneheart and I'm ZEN.
  • *pulls her own hair*
  • Seriously, it's all good, man.
  • Kit Harington did the thing:
  • Honestly, this guy should host SNL! I know I spend majority of my life laughing at him because he looks like a puppy, but he is really improving as an actor and clearly has a great comedy talent too.
  • Speaking of SNL, OF COURSE I didn't have the time to watch Keaton episode yet.
  •  I started watching Salem. I was trying to get into Vikings but just couldn't. The male characters were either dull or impossibly weird. I really want to continue watching because that main blond chick is badass but I'm not in the mood right now.
  • Salem, while not perfect - the lead dude is just so bland - is really entertaining. I love that the main character is a villain - a witch Mary Sibley played by gorgeous Janet Montgomery. Oh, she is stunning. And in season 2 Lucy Lawless joined the cast so it's awesome. I'm finishing season 1 now.
  • Waiting for trailer, release date and anything connected to The Witch is torture. A24 is such a shitty distributor. Seriously, the film got rave reviews at Sundance and there is no news of release date or even of trailer. Katie Dickie said the film will be released in autumn, but there is no official info yet. This can be a huge hit and they are not marketing it at all. I'm not surprised seeing how they fucked up the marketing of Dark Places.
  • Speaking of, the film premiered in France and it got pretty decent reviews. Apparently Theron is brilliant and some even said the film is better than Gone Girl. In any case we got a new clip, which is quite promising, from the scene when Libby goes to Kill Club. And here's something really neat - Gillian Flynn herself making a cameo appearance:
  • Michael Fassbenderis banging Alicia Vikander now? Man, that chick is really climbing up the fame ladder.
  • We may not be getting that new Twin Peaks after all. Personally I think it looks Lynch just got greedy. The actors did a protest thing
  • In more depressing news, there may be one more Lisbeth Salander movie...without Fincher. This is not a good idea. I firmly believe Fincher should direct ALL thriller books adaptations.
  • True Detective season 2 traileris pretty awesome! Kelly Reilly was my favorite part of it. So fierce!
  • I tried watching Lost River last night but after a certain scene involving a scalpel I decided I'm to tired for Gosling's weird ass peyote influenced movies. Gonna finish it this weekend.

Game of Thrones 5x01 The Wars to Come

    $

We're back! And what a return it was. Season 5 of Game of Thrones opened with a very strong episode and though some of the important characters weren't in this one, we got to check in with the key players. And more importantly - The One True King is back. All scruffy and wearing a furry cloak.

Ah, how I missed you, your grace.
The opening of the episode was a flashback, the very first flashback in the history of the series. It was a very atmospheric, incredibly shot scene where we got to see young Cersei and her friend Melara. They go to hut in the woods where they find a witch, Maggy the Frog. Cersei, arrogant and condescending even in her youth, demands to know her future. Maggy tells her that she will be a queen, until there comes another, younger and more beautiful to cast her down and everything she holds dear. She also tells her that her King will have 20 children, while she will have 3 and they will all die before her.

I was thrilled that the show finally included that prophecy - prophecies are some of my favorite things in the book series and so far the show didn't really handle that element of the universe too well. But as usual, it was not perfect - there is one more thing in the prophecy in the book. Maggy tells Cersei of mysterious valonqar - the word meaning little sibling- who will kill her. This is the main reason for Cersei's Tyrion paranoia in the books, while in the show it's simply the fact she blames him for the death of their mother.

Here is a trick, though - we know Jaime is younger sibling too, they are twins but Jaime was born after Cersei....

And funny thing - in the show Cersei mentions in season 1 that she actually had a kid with Robert which unlike the books, undermines the prophecy. Yeah. The writers probably just forgot what was in season 1...

Back to the show and back to present time, Cersei is now heading to the Great Sept, on the day of Tywin's funeral. As she is climbing the stairs she passes Margaery who smiles at her. Margaery is getting way too cocky and Dormer is seriously lost with how to play that character. Inside the Sept we get to see Tywin's body with the stones on his eyes. I'm not sure whether he looked more scary or hilarious. Jaime is standing next to him and I'm sure all the non book readers where afraid we are about to get another rape next to a corpse scene between Jaime and Cersei.

Thankfully that didn't happen. The two talked about Tywin's legacy and then Cersei started talking shit about Tyrion, as usual. She knows Jaime helped him escape. The scene was really well acted and Lena Headey shows Cersei's rage as the world is crumbling around her so well. Also the scene looked absolutely breathtaking - I think this season has the best production values so far.
Next we check in with the box - and inside that box? Tyrion. Varys let's him out and we get a delightful small talk about that fucking crate and apparently, Varys having to throw Tyrion's shit overboard. Tyrion is a trooper - he drinks wine, vomits it, then pours himself another glass and drinks again. His new plan is to drink himself to death.

In Meereen the statue of Harpy is brought down. We also see quite chilling scene of one of the Sons of the Harpy killing one of the Unsullied. Daenerys wants the Sons of the Harpy to be punished and brought to justice.
There was also yet another moment between Missandai and Grey Worm in their super crucial story of Missandai trying to figure out if Unsullied can or cannot fuck.

And then we travel to the Wall where Jon is training Olly, in spite of Olly being annoying little shit who killed Jon's lady love. Janos and Alliser are hanging around judging the peasants and Sam and Gilly are chatting outside about Alliser hating  the wildlings. Gilly's baby is like right there outside covered under a flimsy blanket. Someone call child services please.
Melisandre appears and takes Jon to see Stannis. On an elevator ride 1. she asks him if he is a virgin 2. she grabs his hand so that he can touch his cheek. Melisandre - sexually harassing guys who are really not much interested since season 2. She is insane. Just insane. Why is no one fucking Stannis? This is such a waste. Jon was so hilariously confused in this scene.

He has a problem, seriously. With his red hair fetish it's a wonder he is not banging Tormund.

Ah, my one true love appears. Standing on top of the Wall, all majestic, with loyal Davos right next to him. Stannis talks to Jon about Roose ruling in Winterfell. He says he will mounts his head on the spike and in that moment I am making such sexual noises. He asks Jon if he wants to avenge him. Jon responds that he wants a lot of things. Stannis says stuff like "I shall take back the North from the thieves who stole it", "I shall mount Roose Bolton's head on a spike" so I was pretty much fainting all over the place.  Then Stannis tells him that he wants wildlings to fight for him and he wants Mance Ryder to kneel before him. He gives Jon time frame - midnight. I'm loving the way Harington and Dillane play off each other - two men of honor, with different ideas and different allegiances but filled with grudging respect. Amazing stuff.
There was also a scene of Sansa and Petyr, watching little Robin embarrass himself while practicing. Petyr receives a letter because his birds travel as fast as he can. Also the fuck is Gillen doing? He has softened his ridiculous Batman voice and now speaks with strange British accent. It's so hilarious, but he is ruining every scene he is in with his atrocious acting.

We get one more scene of them in the carriage, but truthfully the less is said about this storyline, the better.

We check in with Emo Brienne and Pod trying to cheer her up. Brienne is being a total bitch to him. I'm really starting to dislike her.
We get more pitiful attempts to woo Cersei from Loras. This time he is talking about Tywin's greatness during his funeral. It was so funny. We also get the return of Kevan, Cersei' uncle and Lancel, his son, who Cersei used to fuck. Lancel is walking the Earth now, he joined the group of religious fanatics called the Sparrows. Later he finds Cersei and he is all apologetic and judgemental. He also drops an interesting piece of information - he expresses regret over what happened to the King. As we know Robert died in the result of injuries sustained in the hunt. But what we didn't know till now is that Cersei told Lancel to encourage the king to drink, which made it more likely for the accident to happen.

Ah, sexposition! We haven't even seen Dorne yet and there is sex connected to it already, in the form of Loras and the token gay guy from brothel who the show uses to bang anyone who is gay or bi. Loras has a birthmark in the shape of Dorne. I can't. I can't with this writing. Margaery comes in acting annoying again and she hints that she is planning on Cersei leaving King's Landing.
Then we get another scene with Varys and Tyrion where Varys tells Tyrion he should help him find Daenerys Targaryen and help her get the Iron Throne. Tyrion seems interested and agrees. In the books published so far Dany and Tyrion didn't meet but something about this scene tells me that Tyrion will meet Daenerys in this season. I really liked their scene, it was well written and Dinklage played the curiosity and spark in Tyrion's eyes so well.

We got another scene with Dany and Daario. Of course, they were in bed. Daario shares his life story and Daenerys reveals to him that she can no longer control her dragons. She then visits them and is all like here kitty kitty and one of them appears and roars like insane. Well, no shit Sherlock. She locked them in a dungeon and just left them there. That was heartless. No wonder they are mad.
In a shocking development - remember when barely anyone cared about the Wall story in season 1? - the last two sequences of the episode were the highlights of the episode and they were set at the Wall. Jon goes to see Mance and asks him to kneel before Stannis. He tells him he will burn alive if he doesn't. Mance tells him that he is not going to kneel because that would make hm a hypocrite. He also tells Jon that he is a good man.

The ending scene was hands down the best part of the episode. The wildlings, the men of the Night's Watch and everyone at the Wall gathered around the pyre. Stannis asks Mance to kneel and Mance refuses. Melisandre delivers batshit crazy monologue during which we see Selyse and Shireen seated above, Selyse looking like a lunatic as always. Melisandre sets the fire and people start gradually freaking out, Gilly hugs Sam.
Jon, in my favorite moment of his so far, does 'enough!' expression. Before Mance starts screaming an arrow goes through his chest. It's Jon who shot it, granting Mance mercy. Stannis throws a 'bitch did what?' look.

    I love him so much.
Overall it was a really good episode, setting up most of storylines in a very elegant way. There were few glitches, like that Loras/Margery scene which was so pointless and Brienne moping around. There better be a pay off to it that I will like.

In the books there is a good chance Mance is actually not dead but in the show? You gotta admit they wasted Ciaran Hinds. A shame, especially that the only wildling we know and like now is Tormund. So I'm guessing Tormund ain't dying anytime soon.

The show is finally starting to do Stannis justice, but Melisandre and Selyse are portrayed like fanatics. That makes Stannis look bad, just because of the association with these two. Martin stated many times that Melisandre is one of the good guys but in the show she comes off as someone worse than Cersei. Meanwhile Cersei is painted as some tragic, lonely figure. Hopefully as the season progresses the characters will finally be shown the way they are meant to be shown, not the way the writers feel about them.

Next episode entitled The House of Black and White shows us what's new with Arya, gives us the first look at Dorne and Stannis is told to eff off....by a 10 year old girl.

  • Oh God. I almost choked to death on my own drool.
  • *kneels and prays*
  •  Here's my obligatory Stannis in every episode gifset.
  • And the lines. Oh my God. I want Stephen to do the whole thing where he begins all the sentences with "I shall".
  • There's even on the set video where we get to see Stephen behind the scenes on the show for the first fucking time in the history of the series. What a wild year, my god, he is out with people - we got 2 photos, now whole 3 seconds of him behind the scenes it's so much better that what we usually get which is fuck all.
  • I am truly not being sarcastic, I'm ecstatic about these 2 photos and 3 seconds!
  • I really may die this season. He is so gorgeous I can barely take it. And did his voice get even hotter? Oh my God.
  • Just wait till you see his scene with Shireen. OH MY GOD.
  • And! There's new promo pic!!! And hilarious thing from Facebook recap! :
  • I shall find him and propose to him.
  •  I already spoke about it in the recap and in thousand other places on the web but seriously how awesome and badass is Jon Snow this season? Kit Harington is surprising me more than any actor ever surprised me before.
  • Cannes line upwas announced and it's great -  Macbeth, The Lobster, Sicario....I really hope all of those are good.
  • So this week Cinematic Corner crossed 1,500,000 views! Thank you guys!I know I'm awful lately and all there is is Thrones talk but hopefully I'll actually see something soon and bring some variety in here.
  • Age of Ultron promo thing started and RDJ is stealing the show again:
  •  Oh and look at Mark fangirl/laugh so hard!
  • Age of Ultron looks really cool but having read the spoilers there are few things I find disappointing. And I still have no idea where Loki shows up.
  • I didn't see any movies this week. But I did start Daredevil and it's really good. I always thought Charlie Cox was kinda meh but he is very good in the role and I'm loving the atmosphere of the show so far.
  • By now I'm sure everyone has seen that new Star Wars trailer. But the question is - have you seen this?:
  •    Because it's so much better. This may be the best thing - along with 'Mountains' that came from that mess of the movie.
  • What else is new...I bought a poncho and as you can see Gustav tried to sneak in and photobomb me again (bottom left corner)
  • So we re-enacted The Lion King together.
  • ...
  • I so desperately need to get a life.
  • Work has been all right this week and just me writing it is probably enough of a jinx for all hell to break loose soon. I must start studying for my annual failure - the exam I take in the fall - and try - maybe - not to fuck it up again and actually get my law career going. Thank God I'm still 25 and look younger than this, given that I'm still just an assistant. Can you imagine being 40 and still do that? Granted, I'll probably be long dead before 40.
  • Because of Stannis' hotness.
  • But anyways....
  • This week I got a task from my boss that seriously made me feel like Cinderella or Andie in The Devil Wears Prada. She simply told me the name of the judge who was ruling in the case and the fact that the plaintiff was a cooperative. Not the name of cooperative. Not the location of cooperative. Just the fact it was a cooperative. So I had to look through all the cases that judge had in the last 6 years which was basically a thousand and search for the ones where the plaintiff was a cooperative. I swear to God at one point our bosses' boss walked in, asked what I was doing and when I told him he had so much pity for me in his eyes. I managed to find one case - one in 6 years - and dropped her an e-mail informing her that I have two days off and will be back on Wednesday. Oh gee, I cannot wait for 'that's not the one I wanted, why would you take days off when you are supposed to look for stuff for me' response.
  • The sad thing is that the actual legal work I have to do this month is so exhausting and complicated I enjoyed sitting on my ass and playing world's shittiest detective for a change
  • But hey, I can afford a poncho and scarves for Gustav because of that job, so...silver linings, people.
  • I promise to watch some movies to write about in next RF because I think we can all agree reading about my job is more depressing than if I sat through Lars Von Trier's movies marathon.

Game of Thrones 5x02 The House of Black and White

    $

The second episode of the 5th season was even better than last week's premiere. It included some truly magnificent cinematography, wonderful action scene featuring Brienne and The Wall's storyline loveliest moment to date.

We open with Arya who arrives to Braavos. She doesn't have as cool of a facial impression as the duo of Stanis and Davos had last season when they saw the Titan of Braavos. Correction - they didn't give a fuck and even look at it. Arya arrives at House of Black and White where an old guy opens and denies her request to come in. Arya stays outside all night and recites her kill list - Cersei, Walder Frey, Merryn  Trant. That list is way too short, what the hell is up with the lack of Roose Bolton? Is the show giving us the hints of people that Arya is actually gonna kill later on?
Pissed off Arya throws the coin into the water and walks away. Later in the episode Arya sees the old man again and follows him. The man changes his face to the face of Jaqen and Arya walks into the House of Black and White.

Brienne continues to be useless while it's Pod who is the brains behind operation now. The duo is at the inn and Pod notices Sansa who is with Littlefinger. Yep, that's, right. So many inns in Westeros but Brienne just happens to bump into Sansa again. Anyways, shit writing aside, Brienne kneels before stunned Sansa and tells her of her oath to Catelyn - I swear if Stoneheart is not in then every time they are actually bringing this oath up is a slap across the face of LS fans. Littlefinger, speaking with his batshit insane accent makes a good point of how in King Landing Brienne didn't even talk to Sansa. While it's the writers to be blamed for this idiocy, not Brienne, he is completely in the right. Sansa denies her and Brienne and Pod starts escaping because LF sends Vale knights after them.

Then the Bri/Pod storyline essentially turns into Benny Hill routine with Pod threatening to throw a rock and falling off his horse. But it was a good action sequence and the music was fantastic. Also you gotta love Brienne cutting the guy's sword in two with Oathkeeper.
We see Cersei who summoned Jaime. Cersei got a gift from Dorne -a stuffed viper with Myrcella's necklace in his mouth. Cersei is furious because she knows the Dornish will try to hurt Myrcella because of what happened to Oberyn.  Also Cersei has a bunch of other problems including that Margaery who Cersei calls that smirking whore from Highgarden. Jaime offers to go to Dorne and make sure Marcella is safe. He also tries to get Cersei to talk more quietly about the fact he is Myrcella's father. Ah, newsflash Jaime - everyone knows you two fucked.

Jaime goes to fetch Bronn who is currently hanging out with his betrothed Lollys. Jaime offers Bronn a better bride and a better castle if he comes with him to Dorne.
Then we finally see Dorne and its first scene is fantastic - Ellaria, looking pissed off and determined is staring at Marcella and her betrothed Trystane. She then yells at Doran, Oberyn's brother accusing him of doing nothing about Oberyn's death. Doran is mad about her accusations. Ellaria wants to torture Marcella as a payback but Doran tells her the girl is innocent and that they won't do such a thing - echoing Oberyn's We don't hurt little girls in Dorne sentiment.

That scene gave me serious season 1 vibes - the way they showed Ellaria staring at Cersei's daughter and all those boiling emotions, feelings that will lead to major developments. As much as the merging of characters and silly choices are dragging the show down - really, where are Manderlys, just how ridiculous is Brienne's storyline and Littlefinger's plans this season - the show feels very "together", it may have a variety of sets and characters but for the first time in a long time it all feels whole and connected.
Barristan tells Daenerys the truth about her father and his madness. Dany decides to grant fair trial to the captured member of Sons of the Harpy. Some new dude whose name I didn't bother to memorize kills the prisoner for Daenerys.

The whitewashing continues - in the books Dany did some horrible things, including torturing people yet in the show the however little likely but possible similarities to her father are brushed off with "I'm not my father". At least they are portraying Dany as incompetent and lost. It's kinda ironic how Varys and Tyrion are on their way to meet her when she really can't do much. On her own, that is.
Varys and Tyrion are on their way to Volantis. There is lots of feisty dialogue there including sassy exchange about a bug in the wine. I'm loving Varys and Tyrion hanging out together, it was one of the best things in season 2.

Cersei is having a chat with her new BFF Qyburn. They bring the head - she is obviously looking for Tyrion so she is having a hunt for the dwarfs. The head is not Tyrion's but Qyburn asks if he can have it. Cersei agrees to this perfectly reasonable and non-creepy request.
We get another small council scene. The just never fail.  Kevan is there sassing Cersei. I'm surprised at how calm she was, maybe she had some weed with her wine. I'm loving Kevan not having any of Cersei's shit.

The small council scenes this year are really gonna be something - the amount of passive aggressiveness there is hilarious and the looks exchanged between Pycelle and Qyburn are so funny. Then we got a lovely scene with Shireen, Gilly and Sam. Shireen who is now the primary educator of the illiterate in Westeros is teaching Gilly how to read. There was a lot of talk about Shireen's greyscale in this scene. This is definitely gonna lead to something later, I'm just hoping it's nothing horrific.

Selyse comes in and ruins things of course with her sour puss and then she talks shit about Gilly to Shireen. I really don't like Selyse. The way she treats Shireen is so cold it makes Stannis look like father of the year in comparison. I'm liking Gilly and Sam this season, they are really adorable.
Then we got to see my baby sitting there behind the desk being outraged. Why was my sweetest outraged? Because he got a letter from 'this wretched girl'. Stannis hands over the letter to Jon Snow and it turns out that the late commander Mormont's niece, Lyanna has written this in response to Stannis asking for her men to join his cause

"Bear Island knows no King but the King in the North, whose name is STARK".

This is one of my favorite moments in the books. Why? Because first of all the idea of a 10 year old girl sassing Stannis this hard is hilarious. Secondly there are all sorts of parodies of this letter. written with glitter etc. on the Internet. Thirdly you gotta admire Lyanna's spirit. And finally it shows yet again just how much the true Northmen love and respect the Starks.
But my favorite thing about the scene was Jon's reaction to the letter. He smiled, moved at the sentiment behind what Lyanna wrote. The scene also contained hilarious moments when Davos showed to Jon what Stannis does to people who disobey him - extending his hand with chopped of fingers and having the funniest look on his face.

Stannis wants Jon help to take the North. He offers to legitimize him and again the look on Jon's face is amazing. In the next scene Sam is all excited for Jon, who always wanted to become the true Stark. but they both Jon can't really abandon his wows. Master Aemon is there calling for the election of the new Lord Commander. There are several candidates, including favorite to win Alliser Thorne. Suddenly Sam stands up and gives a wonderful speech about Jon's bravery.

The votes are counted and it's a tie. Master Aemon stands up and casts his vote - for Jon. The brothers of the Night's Watch start shouting Jon's name and clapping and the Maester smiles. Jon Snow, the Bastard of Winterfell, rises as the 998th Commander of the Night's Watch.
The election scene is perhaps the loveliest moment of the Wall storyline so far. It was so well made and you could just feel the joy of those who support Jon and Jon himself. In the books there was a bit more to it which included Sam running all over the place and doing some really clever things to get Jon to win but here it was very simple and stunning.

Back in Meereen Dany is set to kill the man who disobeyed her. The crowd of Meereen gathers, calling her Mhysa. Daenerys looks around and there is a splendid maneuver here, when the camera spins around her, highlighting just how alone in making her decision Dany is. Dany nods and Daario beheads the men and suddenly the cries "Mhysa" cease. The crowd starts hissing in anger and Daenerys is chased away and forced to hide in her Pyramid
Daenerys hides with her entourage. Then alone and frightened she goes to the top of Pyramid. She hears something and turns around - it is Drogon who is at the top. Daenerys is so happy to see him, she extends her hand to caress him and Drogon moves closer but before she gets to touch him he flies away. Daenerys watches him flying and looks so alone.

I adored Emilia Clarke's acting in this moment - she is the best in her scenes with dragons where she just nails the feeling of both loving them and being frightened. There is such joy on her face when she sees Drogon, her baby, safe and alive, but there is also fear because he is a dragon after all. Emilia wasn't very good last season but this year she is much better. Overall the season feels very whole and connected but there are glitches - the logic mistakes in the production of this scale are simply baffling - we had Cersei and number of her children inconsistency last week and this week it is whole Brienne/Sansa business. It's hard to judge while we don;'t know what becomes of Brienne's storyline later and it is a saving grace that Christie is still wonderful in the part.

The highlight of the season so far is the wonderful work of Kit Harington who is simply a joy to watch. It is remarkable that an actor who was one of the weaker cast members in season 1 is now giving the best performance of the big ensemble. Harington nails every single moment and manages to do the difficult job of being interesting even though he plays noble hero.I think we have rising star on our hands here.
It was also a joy seeing character interactions between Sam/Gilly/Shireen where the characters who are simply adorable get this smaller moment where we get to hear more about them. Also I imagine a number of women were happy to see Tom Wlaschiha again as Jaqen  and even though it's just a character with Jaqen face it adds a bit of familiarity to Arya's storyline.

The episode's finest moment is hard to pinpoint because there was so much going on. The beauty of the show is that it spends pretty much 2/3 of the season setting things up and then the pay off is mind blowing. And the pay of to Jon, Dorne, Dany and Cersei storylines will blow your minds.

Next week's episode is entitled High Sparrow. In it we find out the destination of Sansa's journey, we meet High Sparrow, played by Jonathan Pryce and Jon makes his first decisions as the leader.

  •  He needs to stop talking about punishment and kneeling. I'm this fucking close to catching on fire when I watch this show.
  • WHY ARE YOU STILL STANDING JON?!
  • Look, look what Pedro did:
  • FFS STEPHEN WHY CAN'T YOU DO THINGS LIKE THAT? EVEN ALAN RICKMAN DANCED ON A GAS STATION IN A MUSIC VIDEO ONCE AND IT'S BEEN A GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING FOR 15 FUCKING YEARS NOW.
  • Oh God, the feels:
  •  Liam Cunnigham got everyone bothered because in a true Sophie Turner fashion he said that there is an event more shocking than RW this season. I'm hoping it's the certain use of daggers but if it isn't? What if something happens to Stannis? Oh God, protect my baby.
  •  Davos you fucking cover him with your body do you understand me! Cover him by throwing a child or 10 children to take an arrow if it's heading his way, I don't care, just protect him ffs!
  • You gotta love Tyrion and Varys scenes:
  • Oh my God. Veep!
  •  I love the show so much but this is the first time the writing has been almost at the level of The Thick of It - it was both funny and biting at the same time. Amazing acting from both Julia and Tony here.
  • I saw Mortdecai and to my gigantic surprise it was not terrible. Actually I rated it 7/10. It was funny, I laughed, the actors delivered good performances, the movie looked nice and the score was good. Why did everyone hate it this much? It's like The Rum Diary all over again, where the majority hated it and I enjoyed it.
  • I mean, screw you it was funny! The banter between Depp and Bettany? "'Have you lost your bearings man! Shellfish at a catered affair?". I liked it!
  • I saw that Batman v Superman trailer and I don't get the hate here either. It's Snyder so of course there is no way this is gonna be a great movie, but the trailer was decent.
  • I also saw Jupiter Ascending and thought it was about 10x better than Cloud Atlas because at least I wasn't afraid I'll slip into a coma due to boredom. Yeah, it was ridiculous ("bees are genetically designed to recognize royalty" - oh poor Sean Bean) and Eddie Redmayne was insanely bad ("I CREATE LIFE!" give that Oscar back right now) but at least it was entertaining. And I really like the kiss between Mila and Channing. What? Good movie kisses are hard to come by nowadays.
  • Before you ask - no, I did not hit my head and lost my movie taste. But when  you worry about Mannis everything seems beautiful comparing to the dark pits of depression I'd fall into if they deprive me of my Stephen love. This is all I have.
  • I also saw Clouds of Sils Maria and it was good, but it might have been a bit too metaphoric at times. The performances were great, though, well Moretz was just good but for her that's still an accomplishment.
  • Another thing I saw this week was a fox. I was walking home from work in the center of the city, right next to the bus stop and parking lot and there it was. Like, seriously, in the middle of the city. I hope nothing happened to the poor guy, I have no idea where he came from as there were no woods nearby. I felt like in that scene from Wild.
  • I swear to God, I'm not hallucinating, though you may probably most definitely think that I am.
  • Was it a sign?
  • In another spectrum of crazy, apparently Lars Von Trier is hitting the bottle again so that he can work. This guy is such a mess. He should be locked up for his own - and our - protection.
  • What's new with me? Well I have a new dress and Gustav has a scarf in the same color. Also he got a haircut. And that thing on the balcony that looks like grass. Gustav Antoinette!
  • Oh my God have you guys heard what happened on Grey's Anatomy?! i haven't watched the show in years, but damn, that is Thrones levels of cruel.
  • Attention! Mark Ruffalo is on Graham Norton tonight and next week? Kit Harington, Matt LeBlanc and Rebel Wilson. Cannot wait for Rebel to make fun of Jon.
  • Also f the new royal baby is a girl I'm gonna lose my shit so bad. What? I care!

This episode might as well be called "Everyone is dying inside". Cersei. Sansa. Jorah. Reek has mentally check out seasons ago but seriously, he reached some new levels of that this week. Also - Sansa fans. Dying inside all over the place.

In the House of Black and White Arya is cleaning the place as some shady shit is going on in the background. Overall this is far from most interesting storyline this year but the design of the house itself is really great.
In King's Landing Margaery marries Tommen and Cersei is in despair but smiles trying to hide it. In a very controversial change, a result of Tommen being a bit older in the show, Tommen and Margaery actually consummate the marriage and Tommen looks pretty much like every guy who has had the first time. Margaery uses the opportunity to tell Tommen Cersei would be happy elsewhere.

The next morning Margaery is bragging to other ladies about Tommen's enthusiasm. Cersei overhears that. Margaery shouts "Mother!" and throws shade at Cersei saying she wishes she had some wine to offer but it's too early for her and her friends. She also talks of Tommen's sexual appetite.
OK. I can take Daenerys whitewashing. Tyrion whitewashing. But Cersei?! Because three episodes in and I want to hug her and just punch that stupid Margaery in the face. First of all there is bad writing for Margaery and Dormer delivering levels of terrible that make me miss Shae. She has no idea what she is doing. The thing about Margaery is her intellect and what does she do in every scene? She continues to provoke Cersei for no reason at all.

And that wine line. That was so mean. I felt so bad for Cersei. I think Dormer's Margaery is beyond hope but I hope the show starts showing Cersei doing horrible things soon because so far we didn't see even half of the atrocities she committed. The weight of the scenes is wrong - yes, they show she is assassinating innocent little people in search for Tyrion but it's not emphasized enough. I hope they will include Qyburn's experiments soon.
We travel to Winterfell. I have not mentioned my heart breaking when, ever since the premiere, we see Winterfell with Bolton sigils, have I? Well it's me mentioning it. The place is a fucking horror show with rotting flayed bodies, two of the new ones being lifted just as Reek is passing by. Alfie Allen is one hell of an actor. He has only few scenes in this ep and he delivers amazing performance without uttering a single word.

Roose is dining with Ramsay and we find out Roose arranged for Ramsay to marry. He says he found the perfect match and in the editing cut that probably caused the screams of horror - and/or vomiting - from every single person watching the show we see Sansa riding with Littlefinger. He tells her of his plan - she will marry Ramsay so that she could take the North.

Sansa protests and Turner is really wonderful here but no amount of good acting can rescue that plot. It's asinine - a number of things here don't click, including LF claiming Sansa is not really married to Tyrion because they never consummated the marriage and that he doesn't know much of Ramsay. Ramsay is fucking running around flaying people and cutting their dicks off and Littlefinger knows nothing about this? Do the writers think we are brain damaged?
They are currently in Moat Caitlin and we see Brienne and Pod overlooking them. What follows is wonderfully acted scene where Brienne talks to Podrick about Renly. In a horrific twist that made me go all 'stay away from him you bitch' Brienne mentions her oath to kill Stannis for what he did to Renly. I like you Brienne. But fuck off.

In the next scene Stannis comes to see Jon. He is so hot in that scene I had to rewatch it to actually hear the words that were being said. Jon refuses Stannis offer to become the Lord of Winterfell and Stannis remarks how honorable Jon is. They discuss wildlings and Stannis mentions that Jon should speak with Tormund and perhaps he will be willing to compromise more than Mance.
Stannis also gives Jon advice to send Alliser somewhere because he is Jon's enemy. I was very impressed with Stannis ability to compromise here. He is softer to Jon than to other people and his scenes benefits from the fact that Melisandre, a raving lunatic on the show, is not in them. After Stannis leaves we have Davos explain his behaviour to Jon and trying to convince Jon that if he went to Winterfell he would still fulfill his vows - being the shield that guards the realm of men.

In Braavos Arya meets another girl who is in the House of Black and White. The girl is really mean to Arya. Jaqen walks in and tells Arya she needs to give all of her things up. Arya is then throwing her possessions into the sea but she hesitates before throwing away Needle. Arya hides Needle instead. Maisie Williams' acting in this scene was just wonderful, I think it might have been her best scene on the show so far.
Next Sansa arrives in Winterfell. Sophie Turner's acting here was so good - Sansa approaches Roose he says "Lady Sansa" and she has this really cold look on her face that last few seconds before she takes a bow and responds to his greeting. She then is introduced to Ramsay who is desperately trying to look normal. We then see dramatic cut to Myranda looking jealous as hell.

Sansa is then taken to her room by an old woman who says to her "Welcome home, Lady Stark. The North Remembers". This almost made me cry.

    Fine, it made me cry.

    A lot.
Next up we are back on the Wall where Jon presides over meeting with fellow brothers of the Night's Watch. Slynt is sassing him, refusing to follow his order and generally being his usual awful self. Jon goes "Olly, bring me my sword". Slynt is carried outside, not even Thorne wants to help him. Jon is shown alone in the room, he finishes the drink and he goes outside.

He takes the sword from Olly and as he is approaching Slynt, whose head is now resting on the block, we also see Stannis, strolling around sexily in the background. The same music heard when Theon beheaded Rodrick and Robb beheaded Karstark is playing in the background
Slynt asks for mercy and Jon hesitates for a moment. But then rage comes over him and he cuts Slynt's head off. Jon looks up and Stannis gives him a slight and respectful nod of approval. This is by far the finest scene of the season so far. Slynt has been a horrible person - who betrayed Ned Stark in season 1, killed babies on Joffrey's order in season 2  and showed incredible cowardice in season 4. And now Jon got to kill a man who essentially participated in Ned's death.

While there is a significant change here that is as usual unnecessary - in the book the iconic line is not to Olly and not about sword but "Edd, fetch me a block!" - it was still less offensive than changing "Only Cat" to "Your sister" last season. The nod wasn't as noticeable as I imagined it but it was still a very well done, exceptionally shot scene.
Ah, the brothel scene. Not one, not two, but seven whores. At least the scene had a purpose as they showed High Septon indulging in a little the Seven sex show. Then the Sparrows walk in a drag him outside, terrorizing everyone in the brothel.

Then they showed Septon's ass. Why HBO. Why do you always show the assess and dicks of people we really don't want to see naked? Would it kill you to show naked Stannis? Would it? Why do you do things like that HBO?

Anyways Septon is outraged and goes to tattletale to Cersei and her council. Mace is hilariously outraged at the fact Septon was in the brothel and Pycelle's, old perv, is obviously defending him. Cersei decides to see the High Sparrow. She goes to Flea Bottom, filled with poor people and talks with him. It was a very well acted scene and Jonathan Pryce is already very good in the role

Cersei then goes to see Qyburn in his creepy cave and she gives him a letter to send to Littlefinger. After she leaves something under the covers moves. Qyburn says 'rest easy, my friend'. I bet every single non book reader already guessed who is there but really....you do this but you don't do Stoneheart?
In Winterfell Reek is doing something degrading - probably picking up poop or something and Sansa passes by. Reek turns his head away in shame. Ramsay is looking at Sansa, telling Littlefinger he won't harm her. Roose approaches and has a little chat with Littlefinger about his loyalties. He is wondering why Littlefinger is willing to betray the Lannisters. You and everyone in the audience, Roose. Roose gives him the letter from Cersei and says he would like to read Littlefinger's reply to it.

Back in Volantis Tyrion has enough of sitting in the carriage and goes outside with reluctant Varys following him. The two see the Red Priestess preaching to the crowd about the savior - the Dragon Queen. Tyrion mentions how the only priest they had in King's Landing was Thoros of Myr (Thoros mention crackpot get hype 100/100!!!) and this one is much better looking. Suddenly the priestess turns her head at Tyrion and stares at him intensely. Freaked out Tyrion tells Varys to get out of there and find a brothel.
In front of a brothel the guard rubs Tyrion's head saying that it's good luck to rub dwarf's head. Tyrion responds it's even better luck to suck dwarf's cock and Varys is throwing apologetic looks everywhere. Inside of the brothel Tyrion talks with a prostitute but once she is willing to go with him he says he cannot do that. Clearly it's the memory of Shae stopping him.

But there is something else happening in that brothel. There is a prostitute there, with her ass hanging out, wearing clothes and a wig that make her look like Daenerys. There is a bunch of men she is entertaining and at another table we see Jorah, drinking and dying inside. Hard.
Tyrion goes outside to take a piss and Jorah follows him. He then captures him and says he is taking him to see the Queen...

That was a true Thrones explosive ending, one that we didn't have probably since 4x08. I am so excited for the pairing of Tyrion and Jorah - two outcasts. Overall in spite of the many issues this was a very strong episode and while Sansa's storyline is puzzling at least it can lead to something interesting, unless they go torture porn which I really don't think they dare to do.
Next week, in The Sons of the Harpy, we check in with Jaime and Bronn, Cersei strikes back and situation in Meereen grows more dangerous.

  • Oh yeah. Strolling sexily on that balcony:
  •  GoT youtube channel finally added this:
  • This Sunday is gonna include that Shireen scene. Your hearts will explode. I am still crying. So beautiful.
  • Look, Stannis got a promo still!
  •  Look at him lean like a fucking male model. He is trying to kill me.
  • Oh, that bitch Margaery|:
  • Wine shade is so unnaccaptable (she writes as she is drinking wine)
  • Varys should get some sort of award for best expressions on the show:
  • Everyone needs to see the Book Snob Dictionary
  • So Mark Ruffalo, Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner were on Graham Norton show last week and it was adorable. I love how often Ruffalo is there. That show was about 10x better than Ultron, which they were promoting.
  • Tonight Kit Harington will be on the show and I'm sure it's gonna be so funny - Rebel Wilson is gonna be there too and there is no way she won't interact with Kit in some hilarious way.
  • Why does everyone seem to have a problem with that picture of Leto as the Joker? I think he looks fine other than the ridiculous "damaged" tattoo. My God it is as if I had "I love Stephen Dillane" tattooed on my butt cheeks. The parodies of the photo are hysterical:
  • I cannot wait to see Harley Quinn, she has never been in a feature film before so I'm sure I'll love her look no matter what.
  • Age of Ultron - meh. The Bruce/Natasha romance is so horribly written I felt awful watching this - Johannson tries but Natasha comes of as needy and pathetic and Bruce comes of as coward and a jerk. The Vision/Scarlett Witch romance would be so much more interesting, one of my favorite things was Vision swooping in and carrying her out of the trouble. My review will be published soon and oh man, is it not a nice one.
  • Veep was fantastic this week, the acting is really top notch this season and I laughed so hard at Dan calling Jonah and his assistant "Yogi and Booboo"
  •  Dark Places soundtrack got released and one of the track names spoils the twist in the film. Good God, the marketing for this one.
  • However there is new Spanish (?) trailer that looks pretty decent.
  • New Macbeth pics! Please be good!
  • Kingsman is officially getting a sequel which is fantastic news. Apparently there is a rumour that in it we will also meet the American branch of Kingsmen. No offense to American guys but there is no way American gentlemen can match British ones.
  • So this is what Jonah Hill looks like nowadays ------>
  • I'm not sure if it's for the movie he is shooting now, the new comedy by Todd Phillips, also starring Miles Teller, but damn, this cannot be good for his health.
  • Laura Linney joined Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. I don't know whether to judge her or pity her.
  • This week I spent so much money on the books to study from. Worst spending ever. My brain hurts so bad from reading all of this. Work was slow this week so I was basically studying in the office. The good news is that reading these books is about 10x more useful than my method of learning  last year where all I did was reading legal acts. At least books have some sort of narrative and it's not just memorizing 10,000 paragraphs of absolutely useless, out of context information, word for word.
  • Another thing I bought were jeans after visiting about 100 stores and discovering that if you have an ass and wide hips, you are not able to fit in any jeans. If something fits my hips I literally have to make additional holes in the belt because it's about 30 cm too big in my waist. It's madness. I like my curves but now I'm actually working out because I'm sure if I won't loose few inches in my hips if I sit down in the jeans I managed to fit in (kinda) they will rip apart. Do you see why I mostly buy and wear dresses? How do Christina Hendricks and Jennifer Lopez manage to find pants?!
  • Thanks to everyone for participating in White Swan, Black Swan blogathon! I'm gonna post the roundup next Wednesday, so even though it's after deadline you can still send me links to your entries. I'm sorry I'm so late with this. I'll try to actually make my own contribution. To my own blogathon. Can you tell I've been kinda busy lately? Anyways it's a long weekend here so I have tomorrow to write this, thank God for that extra day of free time.
